I am living for this “Alec and his dad” content. Clearly you inherited your love of craftsmanship from him, and in turn you’ve passed that inspiration on to so many of us, so from all of us 👋 thank you Mr. Steel
Being a father myself, I'm confident in saying that your dad is probably immensely proud of you and elated to be crafting this with you. I can only imagine that overwhelming feeling.
Seeing Gervas, the house and the wood workshop brings back a lot of fond memories! I'm very glad he's doing so fine and you get to spend some quality time together in these trying days!
As a woodworker who has enjoyed watching your metal work, this is probably my favorite episode/build that you've ever done! Amazing craftsmanship! Both you and your father are awesome!
Draw knife, spokeshave, shaving horse, froe ... even splitting logs by hand. Your dad is as a true craftsman as it gets. No wonder you're who you are today, Alec! :)
Cherish these moments with your dad and learn all you can. I spent a good bit of time with Grandfather in his shop and miss it dearly. There's something quite special about working with your family.
My dads from England, I was born in the states. It was so relatable to here Alec’s dad keep correcting him when he said rear legs. It’s such a British dad thing.😂
This was incredible! I want to learn more about green woodworking, would love to see a video featuring Mr Steele Senior where we learn about the wood in-depth: splitting, when to carve, how to dry, all that good stuff
This just made me smile ear to ear throughout the entire video. I LOVE how these two ARTISTS and true CRAFTSMEN showcasing, passing on, and sharing their amazing skills. I LOVE the beginning where you guys go over so many styles and techniques, and a brief history too. So fascinating. This has to be one of my favorite videos on this channel ever. AWESOME!! Thank you Steele Dad and Son for sharing this gem of a video. And man, that's also a beautiful workshop too. Huge props to the DAD for teaching Alec early (like that shaving horse jig, with an attachment where little Alec could reach of which now grown Alec STILL uses @ 9:49 LOL hahahaha, and mini-Alec pics with power tools).
I would absolutely love seeing Alec teach his dad some things around the forge. He already has such a creative mind and understands form and craft, I think ye would pick up on it very easily. And then after that, you two combine your efforts to make a wood and metal piece that combines both your passions.
A series on makers like your dad would be awesome. True craftsmen and women should never be lost to time or convenience and bespoke items are works of art.
This was a tearjerker of video for me to watch!!! I've seen pretty much every video since you were way back in your first shop! And this is the first time you and your father have worked together in a video.. it solidifies everything I've ever thought about your skills.. your dad is a great artist, and maker. you have carried it down, and brought it back full circle to him being in your videos!! you guys should make as many videos as you can! A full-blown blacksmith/ woodworker build would be amazing to watch!! Projects such as kitchen tables with wrought iron features and Wood construction would be great... Or even better you make the tools that he makes the chairs with!!?? A handmade table and chair set with wrought iron features fit for A King!!...????

I enjoy how after all these years you are still learning from your father. A master craftsman. More videos of you and him with his expertise would be fantastic!
I’m sorry for your loss. The only positive I could say is that your dad must’ve been a fantastic father and friend to be so well loved and missed so dearly.
For me it was my granma and granpa. My father is ... meh ... When we build something and I didn't do in the perfect way at first try it always was "You are doing it wrong, you can't do it. Step back, I will do it!" Alecs dad has the energy of my granpa. Very lovely and down to earth. Don't know how my dad became how he is. Maybe his 12 years of military service are the culprit...
As someone who has been without my father for nearly 20 years, this video has brought a smile to my face and tears to my eyes. Good on you Alec, going back home to be with your family, great video and can’t wait to see the next one. Cheers from Louisiana.
Great to see green woodworking being prompted in a fun and educated way to a younger audience... although the craft is making a comeback, in a digital age it's proving hard to capture the interest and inspire younger generations. Thank you and well done Alec and Dad.

The contrast of the calmness of his dad and him jumping everywhere is awesome
We now have a good idea of what Alec was probably like, when he was a 14-year old.
Alec's dad seems like he would really be a patient teacher. Explains Alec's love of working with his hands.
His father is the prime example of what I would believe a retired gentleman from England would be like. Very soft spoken with a sweater vest and cap
Yes that's what I was seeing too love it
Hard not to imagine him driving an old Triumph or Morgan down a lovely English B-road.
A bit more tweed and he's got it!
As an Englishman from the next county over, I completely agree, although his accent sounds a bit too posh to be a carpenter by trade.
