Very cool to see those fossils coming out of the mountain. The similarities are also fun, like the metasequoia. Looking forward to part two, thanks for bringing us along!
Ok, ok, you are officially my new favorite channel. Been subbn for awhile now. You and your awesome adventures continue to impress. To me, your channel has it all. I really love everyone in the rockhounding community. You always make me laugh and I like feeling like I'm right there with ya. Tiny request, give us a better longer look at some of the rocks and fossils. I just love fossils and would like some better detail at what your finding. Love your excitement and how you feel like your in a wonderland. You do such a great job of making me (us) feel like right there with ya. I do have a question...how much in general no exact amount needed does one pay or need for a claim like that? Just a curiosity thing. I'd never realistically be able to have one anywhere near you. I don't know if its monetary or you need to offer up set amount of minerals each year? But, I envy you having such a wonderful claim. I'm super happy for you yo have such a blessed claim. Couldn't happen to a cooler dude as far as I'm concerned. You even got raspberries there! Damn, bro, lol! I bet you even got a lil fishing hole for salmon! Keep on rockin, Jarrod! Be safe and take care. Appreciate ya, buddy 😁🤘
Bro. That is the nicest comment. Thanks. Really, that makes me happy. For sure, my camera skills are poor! This video was from last spring when I had to switch from my gopro to my phone, I think I improved since then. I was able to get the old footage when I got the gopro working again, so now I have all my cameras operational and I learned lots so far, bought new goods and am feeling comfortable with it now, so I think this coming summer I will finally get it all tightened down. Mineral claims in BC cost about $30 a cell for the first year. You need to hold a free miner certificate for another $30/year. The cost goes up every year, but there are ways of offsetting costs with work on the claim. A cell is approx 21 hectares. My claim is about 14 cells
@@Cliffwalkerrockhounding Thank you for answer my question. 🙂👍 And you are definitely getting better with your camera and video skills. I have an older gopro and need to try to get a newer one, maybe a drone too. Its good to know that your appreciated and all the hard work doesn't go unnoticed. Your an excellent steward in our community. 🙂
Hope you guys like it. This one is me trying to understand this part of the mountain and its ancient history. The next episode has better fossils as I hone my skills and learn to focus my fossil-vision. Enjoy!
Man, it's sure nice to see sunshine and beautiful green everywhere! Great video, that was an awesome day! Thanks for the shoutout too! By the way, darker layers in a lacustrine deposit often means high organic content. Good place to look for carbonate film fossils, I would think!
Thanks! I'm not sure I found any ferns yet, but I would love to. Smithers is quite a way north from where I am, but I found some bivalves up that way years back.

You bet! We have so many similarities. We are the pacific nw

Very cool fossils, I have a couple fern fossils my parents gifted me, if I remember correctly they came from a place close to Smithers.
Thanks! I'm not sure I found any ferns yet, but I would love to. Smithers is quite a way north from where I am, but I found some bivalves up that way years back.
So very cool ...!
