The truth is that the Govt just didn't keep up, especially due to the fact that Nigeria suffered Intermittent military regimes which disrupted Govt policies, birthed corruption and non accountability, thereby affecting the power sector.

Also, like Chandie said, there are areas within a state including Lagos that enjoy better electricity than others. For example, Bariga, Gbagada and Oworonshoki areas of Lagos mainland have good electricity... Like you can go days and weeks without putting on your generator set.
On the electricity, the population of Nigeria should not be an excuse. more people means more taxes to the Government thus more resources to solve the electricity problem. Nigeria has more natural resources like Oil. If Kenya had such resources at their disposal we could be producing enough power to support all our neighbors.

It's true Nigeria export electricity to Nigeria and Benin and that's because of an agreement the country has leading to the daming of river Niger. So special preference has to be given to these countries regarding electricity. I'm not sure, but they 'may' enjoy better electricity than us. However, that is not to say that Nigeria should not be able to generate enough electricity for it's citizen given the enormous reservoir of natural gas, petroleum and other natural resources we have. Majority of Nigeria's electricity is generated from sources other than water but corruption in government will not allow for the effective distribution of this essential commodity
So after many explanations, you guys still think Nigeria supplies electricity to Ghana? How many times must we tell you guys that Nigeria doesnt supply electricity to Ghana? There is 2/47 electricity everywhere in Ghana and Nigeria is struggling to give just 5hrs constant power supply to only Lagos and you guys say you supply electricity to Ghana, does that make sense to you?
I’m yet to enlighten myself about the gasline/power connection Nigeria has with Ghana so no comments on that but , Nigerians Across most states in the country experience more than 5hrs of light daily . You sell a product and I patronize you, we buy and pay cash. You don't give it to us for free. If selling your product and I buy, pay for it and take it home, whatever I choose to use it for is non of your business. Moreover, gas can.be used for different things, example, for domestic use, mechanics can also use gas for their welding activities, vehicles can also use gas to power their engines instead of diesel and super. You can also use gas to power a power plant to generate electricity. Take note, gas cannot convert into electricity, you can only use it to power some electricity generating plants just like you use diesel to power your generators in Nigeria to generate electricity. Take note again, Ghana is no longer buying gas from Nigeria, we produce our own gas to power our power plants now in our own country. Thank you.
