I'm suprised that Pixar hasn't decided to make A Tin Toy Christmas after all this time, I mean I know a lot of aspects were used in the Toy Story movies but considering how much technology as progressed and how many times they revisit their stories, it makes me wonder why they couldn't do the same with Tin Toy

They did give Tin Toy a cameo in Toy Story 4, meaning they created a new model for him, so I guess they hypothetically could just reuse that model for it. Though part of me doesn't want it to be made after all this time because it just wouldn't feel the same with current animation as it would have with early CG.

Another note about A Tin Toy Christmas, the way they phrase it in The Pixar Story documentary, when they were asked by Disney to produce a feature, they first didn't think they would be up to it because they thought they needed to get experience with making a 30-minute special before committing to a feature
Someone at Disney then allegedly told them "if you think you can do 30 minutes, then you can do 90 minutes"

On a similar note, did you also hear about the missing deleted scene from A Christmas Story? It was a second fantasy sequence of Ralphie imagining himself after he gets his BB gun. As he imagines he's fighting along side Flash Gordon, the set design, the costumes, and the props for the lost scene in general all look incredible. Defiantly at least worth a read on the LMW.

  • @edmccray212

The It's a Wonderful Life claims are incorrect. Around 1990 there was an It's a Wonderful Life Book by one of Capra's biographers and here's the real story.
The Lord's Prayer scene wasn't George, it was Uncle Billy. It's cited in the book and script pages are included. It was filmed and if you watch the finale you can see the jump in cuts. It went right before Mary says "Mr Martini, how about some wine?"
The Potter stuff is more complex. There was no ending where he died counting the money. That's an urban legend. In the script he was supposed to pass by George's house and see what was going on and sit on the front step sulking knowing he'd been beaten. In the final version he left the money on the doorstep. These were written before Lionel Barrymore was cast and Potter wasn't written to be in a wheelchair. Once Potter was in a wheelchair this ending became cumbersome because you'd have to have his good ferry him in and out of the car and in the chair. It couldn't be like the script where Potter shows remorse. Capra got more letters on Potter getting away with theft than any other detail in any film.
Another deleted sequence in the book is the Heaven sequence. It was written to be a fully realized sequence where we saw Heaven. The identity of the angels were Benjamin Franklin and the writer Joseph Kearns. A lot more detail on Clarence being the screw up of Heaven was also included as well as funny lines like "If this works out, I'll believe in fairies from now on..." It wasn't shot because Capra thought it was too hokey.
The opening sequence of Bedford Falls was found in the editing room. If you look at some of the shots you can see George run into the shots just before it cuts away. That's because without some sort of prologue on Heaven the audience was confused.
A found lost media item concerning this film is the original score. Parts of it weren't used and the composer never forgave Capra. There's been 2 CD releases of that score and you can find them on youtube.

Them wanting to insert a laugh track into a charlie brown christmas is the most prime example of dumb company executive decisions.
Also more on it's a wonderful life becoming a "classic" is because of how poorly it did at release. That caused it to be a dirt cheap nothing movie for tv stations to spam replay around this time and since it was on so much people begin to just naturally associate it with the season.

HIGHLY personal case of lost media of my own- There were these DVDs that I believe only went into circulation in Canada. (I’m in NL myself) I had about 2 or 3 of these… I remember I got them as Christmas gifts. They were called “Children’s Theatre”. There’s very little info online about them aside from the scattered box art. These came in volume sets. 1, 2, etc. I’m not sure just how many were made but all the box arts are some cheap, tacky and CREEPY as hell looking clip art, and the one thing that absolutely stuck out to me as a kid on every one of them is the ugly jester on the top. They all featured (from what I remember) creepy, experimental shorts that ranged anywhere from the mid 60’s to early 80’s, similar to the vein of Sesame Street. I don’t remember much of what happened in them but a little black boy skipping around while some really trippy stuff was going on, I believe there were video filters over him and it looked very disturbing, and then I remember there was this one animation… I don’t even remember what it was but it truly disturbed me in a way I can’t even describe, I remember the distinct feeling it left me with, almost sickening. It was a trippy Sesame Street-esque animation that I cannot even remember the details about… But all I know is that it scared the shit out of me so hard I never ever touched the DVD again and it just got scratched up and thrown out eventually over the years. I had kind of just brushed it off as something trippy I saw as a kid and nothing more until when I was working at my local goodwill centre recently and I saw like 2 more of them. I hesitated to get them because I didn’t want my co-workers thinking I was nuts… But they were gone the next day. I was kinda pissed… These DVDs are ALL lost media and as far as I’m concerned I’m the only one who actively wants to find them. Their footage is nowhere to be found online, I’ve checked absolutely everywhere. Only some box arts, not sure if all of them are online. I am so mad that I had the chance recently to save 2 of them but didn’t. From what I can tell these DVDs are very very rare… If anyone has them at all… PLEASE upload them because I’m absolutely dying to see what terrified me as a child. All I know is that it was contained somewhere within the first 5 volumes. Merry Christmas LSSQ, and everyone!

Kind of surprised you didn't mention the June Foray version of Frosty The Snowman. What I mean is that the original airing of the special had Karen and the school children voiced by veteran voice actress June Foray, but later airings gave Karen and the kids different voice actors (June also voiced the teacher which is still there)

One thing to note is The Wiggles did film a video for Yule Be Wiggling that released in 2001. The Wiggles didn't to a tour instead of a VHS, they did both just like most of their albums. Maybe what your sources meant to say is they did a tour before filming a VHS? The tour footage is lost so you did get that correct. Interestingly enough I remember seeing clips of this tour circulating on RUclips when I was a kid since I do recall Henry the Octopus with the Santa hat and also the Yule Be Wiggling stage props.

I know this isn’t Christmas related but this reminds me of a time on tv idk if it was MAD or adult swim but it was Dora either turning into a werewolf or being ate by wolves, I’m sure it was just my imagination but I can’t find anything that’s close to it lol

And I tried talking about it on the lost media wiki but I never got an answer. So, I was wondering if you could help out. I would really appreciate it🙂

Okay. Nightmare Before Christmas DID have merchandise when the movie first premiered. The movie only did so/so, and the merchandise went quickly on clearance or was generally odd to find. Not hard, but somethings were quite common, some things weren't. Now, in the very late 90's or early 00's, the movie started hitting the cult movie circuit and the value of the 90's toys skyrocketed on the second hand market to the point where a poorly distributed line of large bendable carded figures were valued at hundreds of dollars mint. Eventually the Goths got it, Disney realized it was a Hot Topic gold mine and slowly released those collectible figures and very goth dorky things. Now it's mainstream and the merch is everywhere, but there was a time in-between its release and to early 00's where stuff just didn't exist.

It wasn't directed by Tim Burton. It was directed by Henry Selick. He's stated in interviews that he's tired that many people call it "Tim Burton's movie" rather than his own.

I have a vague memory of going to a wiggles concert where they dressed up Captain Feathersword as a Christmas tree, but I could be thinking of something else because I’m pretty sure when I was growing up Sam was the yellow wiggle. I think there was a point when Greg was the yellow wiggle when I was a kid, but I don’t think I ever saw them in concert during that time. But I could be wrong, I need to check pictures my parents took, maybe videos too, but I don’t know.
