Nice birds wow - and Ace as usual come thru for the win -- you.ll have to pick up some of those hand warmer packs like Lucas gave you that time - nothin worse than cold fingers cept maybe feet - thanks again for sharin take care
Did the birds in that first ditch act like public land birds?? 😂 As you might imagine, this particular video had me laughing out loud in multiple clips. Nice somersault on the cacklin' Rosie, and the reverse cartwheel on the 2nd bird, especially how you got him into position for it with the first shot placement. Superb hunting, especially considering the conditions. 🎉 I won't even deduct much for you only being out there under an hour, vs our 5 hour tour trying (and failing) to nab that elusive 3rd bird.
@@UplandOhio thanks! I probably tend to underdress just a hair, if anything, but by now I'm usually pretty comfortable. Long Johns & my normal brush pants. Tshirt under a somewhat heavy long sleeve tshirt, under a medium weight fleece pullover. My vest keeps wind from whistling through my core. Light fleece stocking cap. Normal pair of socks. Uninsulated boots. Either my medium-heavy work gloves or my heavy gloves. That day it was the medium-heavy gloves. They were fine, except for the 1/2 mile walk (which was quick) on the upwind side of that shelterbelt. I even had hand warmers in them. I really needed my heavy gloves, but my fingers still would've probably gotten cold. Fingers are a problem in wind like that at those temps, no matter what I do.
@@lilbrowhydaw Thank you! I’m looking to make my first trip to SD next season (solo & no dog). And I want to make sure I’m prepared for any type of weather. So, in the off season, I’ll be gearing up with stuff that won’t break the bank, but can layer well together.
I was thinking the same thing as I waited for Ace to retrieve that first bird. How in the world was he able to stay focused on finding that bird and how was he not led astray by the scent of other birds. I assume you don't take for granted how great of a dog he is 😊.
@@Talons_N_Tails thanks! I see bald eagles frequently, but don't recall ever seeing a golden one in eastern SD before. But after a little research, there's no doubt that's what it was! He seemed just a tad bigger than most bald eagles. I was obviously impressed.

I used to hunt a cold day and my feet were numb😂You are tough guy
@@sun99149 if you say so. 😆😆
I know you did a gear rundown before. But, I’d love to see what type of clothing you’re wearing for such a cold & windy day. Great videos as always.

That’s an Aberdeen Golden Eagle. Nice hunting. They always flush when you are blocked by some branch or twig. I know the feeling.
I suppose it could be, although I thought they were blue & gold.
I wish my WPAs looked like yours do 🥳👍
@@DuckbumSD I'm pretty lucky to live near so much amazing public hunting & accompanying WILDlife!
I tried to road hunt with my dogs on these cold windy days but they just walked with me on the road.
