The opening concert of the MPO Chamber series features two monumental works that showcase the brilliance of both composers in combining the piano with other instruments. The Quintet for Piano and Winds, Op. 16 reflects Beethoven’s early style while foreshadowing his later innovations. Brahms’ Piano Quintet, Op. 34 stands as one of his most profound contributions to the chamber music repertoire due to its emotional depth and structural complexity. For this concert, the MPO Resident Conductor Michael Laus at the piano will be joined by the principals of the MPO wind and string sections.
