"Porsche Design" writing on front is the worst thing they could have done, it dismisses all the luxury from the phone and makes it look like some company's giveaway.
The sound skips when you rotate the phone because both Mate 9 and Porsche Edition have a feature called Stereo+ which adjusts the volume of earpiece and the main speaker to make them sound more like stereo speakers when switched to the landscape mode. If you don't like it, you can always disable it through the settings menu.
And they are all sourced from a 3rd company. I talked with an earphone maker called Shangfai and they were proudly showing me how the Nubia and many other "audiophile" and "premium" bundled headphones were made by them.
TechAltar bingo because certain parts a made by others because all this companies don't want to be see as a monopoly my meaning is the company that design every thing and sell it to people in a price which is not good for customer so that's why these companies some of them make their own phone and the earplugs are usually make by others manufacturer which better for both sides to avoid being accused as a monopoly companies that will effects the company future operations .
MrMobile [Michael Fisher] bro I know but the phone software is just new and still need a adjustment because all brands of New smartphone products are like this when they are first came out. please bro review more about the brand more because all brands are allow to compete which each other right , please forgive me if I say wrong thank you.
Yeah, went back and forth on this before deciding on the less-pretentious pronunciation. Hey, at least you got in before the angry mob that's gonna eviscerate me for pronouncing the h in "Huawei" though!
MrMobile [Michael Fisher] But pronouncing something right is not pretentious. It's not like it's hard to say the e, unlike with Huawei or Hyundai where a person that is not familiar with asian languages doesn't stand a chance of getting close to right pronounciation. Still a very good review of a not very pretty and overpriced phone. :)
Nara P you're totally right.. but also failed to realize Apple needs half the ram and still has better memory management the best actually and needs less than 3000 mAh just to get the same battery life.. the iPhone also has a 256gb option now lol try again
Nara P lol specs doesn't always matter.. the specs with iPhones is pretty much on par with majority of android flagships now I'll say the galaxy s7 has slightly better hardware but that could be subjective it's not 2012 anymore lol apple competes head to toe now
VTEC kick in Using the ipad pro 12.9. Its a beast. But im not updating my ipad, as the new ipad pro introduce Apple always cleverly make yr old ipad slow "magically". My 6S iphone starts to get buggy and and slow one month after the release of iPhone7. I use iPhone since the 3G, I know Apple trick.
JZ VR bingo because the mate 9 software is still new so let the company that design it to update the software for better then we can review it after that.
I moved to Huawei with the P9 after years of HTC/Samsung and I'm never going back. Android 7 on the P9 is awesome and response is amazing. Great review!
killed it again. best phone reviewer out there so glad you got your own channel and brand and are doing way better than you were with pocket now! you've got almost as many subs. stay mobile!😃
Nice overview/review. I actually think that Mate 9 is a very solid phone. If i had enough money, i'd have probably got it, but i didn't, so i went with Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 64gb. Also, i agree that Huawei's software isn't the best (tinkered with some Huawei phones that my friends have), but that's something that can be fixed, and hopefully they do that soon. Their design is certainly spot on. I love P9's design, and i believe that it's somewhere in top 5 only by looks. Also a suggestion Michael. Since i recently got a Xiaomi phone, i noticed that you don't review them... I'm pretty sure that a lot of people in you audience would be glad to see a video about them since they are not crazy expensive. I'm pretty sure that you could import Redmi 4 Prime (SD 625 phone) for around 200$, probably even less. Flagships are nice, but not everyone can afford them. :/ P.S Do you also think that market is starting to shift? It's like that more phones are becoming either expensive or cheap... It's like the middle ground is disappearing. When i was looking for a new phone (bought Note 4 a week ago), i couldn't find anything in 250-400 euro range... (Well, OP3 in my country costs 550 euros, so there's that). P.P.S. Sorry about my english (i'm pretty sure that i'm not that coherent), it's not my mother tongue... TL;dr - I believe that you could try importing and reviewing "cheap" chinese phones, since i think that many more people are interested in them than in 900$ flagships. Sorry for the long comment. :)
Thank you for your kind words. :) I will certainly stay tuned. Your videos have a certain quality to them that not many other channels can reproduce. I certainly like Mi Mix, but i meant something more along the lines of cheaper phones. People buy their parents/kids phones a lot, and till now they went with Moto E/G series, but i think Xiaomi is a good contender, especially since MIUI, with all of its faults, is easy to use for a regular joe (and customizable enough for a more advanced user). The one that picqued my interest is Redmi 4 Prime (the one that i mentioned in my previous comment). It has a midrange CPU that saves battery like crazy and a beefy battery. By numbers it should have a better battery than Moto Z Play, but we all know that numbers aren't everything, and that's where people like you come in. That is important for some people that want nice performance and good battery life. P.S. I see that you're a trekkie. :D I'm a gater (Stargate fan) myself. Is there anything Stargate inspired (like Combadge that you reviewed) that you could review? :D
I don't think that is the right comparison. If you want to compare a phone to the s7 Edge, that phone would be the Axon 7. Which is more powerful than the s7 but at half the cost. $350. The Axon 7 looks 3 times better and cost a lot less (than the s7).
The Axon 7 is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor, and turned in some of the best performance results we've seen. It scored 141,989 on the AnTuTu benchmark, which measures overall system performance. That's faster than the Galaxy S7 Edge (121,906), and toe-to-toe with the OnePlus 3 (141,429), which has a lower-resolution display.
Bryan Ng the galaxy s7 score is in the 130,000 range where did you get your information? The antutu benchmark test mainly the gpu not overall performance and on geek bench the galaxy s7 is only behind the Kirin 960 when it comes to benchmarks on android
Huh? The original Comment refers to the s7? My main point is none of these phone is comparable to the phone in this video. It's more comparable to the Axon 7. Which is cheaper and about the same if not better than the s7.
King0097 That's because you haven't converted the price back from USD to AUD, plus also remove any GST that was included in the price of the flagship because US prices are Tax exclusive.
propa way actually it never did explode. it caught on fire, granted, but never actually exploded. its kind of an unfortunate Mandela effect/mass hysteria about a problem that didnt really exist.
MrMobile saw this as well and was waiting for someone to do a Review on it. I agree don't see anything thus far to justify the price.Dont get me wrong looks nice and originally liked it before they came out with any of their products. Thanks so much for sharing your Review appreciate it Deb
Just went into a Porsche design shop today, they said that they weren't carrying the Porsche Design Mate 9 in store, only the older Porsche Design Blackberry.
Disagree about the complaints on the camera software: Google camera UI is oversimplified while the Huawei/Leica camera app provides much more features but it's still easy to use, swipe up to access the manual controls is very useful.
Michael, as much as I love the content in your reviews, mixing 60fps animations/footage with 30fps (or lower) animations/footage is jarring. It's mainly when you use a 60fps transition to cut to a screen recording, which looks as though it was recorded on QuickTime at 12fps. Granted I work in post-production QC, so looking for this kind of thing is hard to shake, but my point stands. If you're looking to screen record at a higher framerate you should look into iShowU HD for Mac or Fraps on Windows. Both are able to record uncompressed and 60fps. :) Either way, great review. I really respect your opinion when it comes to tech reviews, and your reviews are always very informative, which makes staying in the know very easy. :D
MrMobile [Michael Fisher] Haha, sorry about that. I like Enterprise & keep the theme song on my playlist but the NX-01 isn't my favourite. However, it's impossible not to like it a little because it shares ques with the E & of course the Akira Class. Plus having heard Drexler defend it on Trek Yards, I certainly respect it. Now the Discovery however... (joke).
Changes all the time, but I'm currently switching back to a Moto Z to keep using the N build on it (and that JBL speaker mod is no joke for a radio addict like me).
great review. but there is nothing wrong with the camera settings set up. the pro dslr users would love it, but, of course, those who only take selfies will not.
This looks gorgeous and all.... But would anyone really pay 1.5k on a Huawei device? Not really a brand I'd trust well enough to dish out $1500 on. But the Mate 9 is an amazing phone, great features and nice build, but 1500 for that is just too much!
I'm guessing the Porsche logo is so big and obnoxious is because people will quicker forgive the blatant Galaxy S7 copy design if it has Porsche's stamp on it as opposed to an "unknown to mainstream" Chinese brand like on the Mate 9 Pro. Btw, great review.
that logo on the front 😷
Yeahhhhhhh ...
MrMobile [Michael Fisher] The tramp stamp
I hope you still have that mask :I
"Porsche Design" writing on front is the worst thing they could have done, it dismisses all the luxury from the phone and makes it look like some company's giveaway.
IGA very gaudy.
IGA Exactly. It makes it look cheap. A small, simple embossed logo on the back would be so much better.
Don't get why Porsche keeps adding that
Who is here after the announcement of the s20 Ultra? Back when $1.5k for a phone was unheard of...
The sound skips when you rotate the phone because both Mate 9 and Porsche Edition have a feature called Stereo+ which adjusts the volume of earpiece and the main speaker to make them sound more like stereo speakers when switched to the landscape mode. If you don't like it, you can always disable it through the settings menu.
superiorlion015 youtube reviewers usually knows shit about products they review.
I find it rather funny that the 'premium' earbuds they packed in are the same ones that shipped with the budget Axon 7.
Yeah, I should clarify that they're branded "Premium," not that I think they deliver a premium acoustic experience.

I'll buy this phone only if they give a Porsche car with it! 😂
Tejas Karande 😂 genius
Tejas Karande sure if you want to pay $500 a month on insurance.
lol....
well, you can get a Porsche Boxter from the 90s - 00s for less than 10k
Meanwhile phones cost that much now minus ANY charger / earbuds and whatnot.
Times change indeed
"If you didn't pay any attention to us before then you should probably start now".... you could not have said it any better, Fisher.
Waiting for the regular mate 9 review though 🙂
PorschE! You pronounce the e. Not Porsch. Porsche. PorschE.
Sorry, I had to.
Yeah, went back and forth on this before deciding on the less-pretentious pronunciation. Hey, at least you got in before the angry mob that's gonna eviscerate me for pronouncing the h in "Huawei" though!
Michi Scholl danke, dass hier wenigstens noch ein deutscher ist, der weiß wie man Porsche wirklich ausspricht
The company did release a video saying it's porschE though, so I think you might just be wrong. But you got Huawei right :)) and that's a rare one.
MrMobile [Michael Fisher] But pronouncing something right is not pretentious. It's not like it's hard to say the e, unlike with Huawei or Hyundai where a person that is not familiar with asian languages doesn't stand a chance of getting close to right pronounciation. 6gig of ram, 256g of storage and 4000 mah battery. That will be every spec of the flagship phone of 2017. Except Apple.

Mister Fisher awesome and classy job as always! you are a real highlight on the tech RUclips community!
2016: Who would buy a $1500 phone?
2020: Where are the sub-$1000 phones?
I think you probably know, but you deserve to be given the praise. The quality of your videos are fantastic.
And here we are in 2020 where $1500 is basically the norm for flagship prices🤦♂️
kirin 960 is the best Android processor , period. It even outperform S821 and exynos. Amazing.
Vivek Chauhan I haven't tried all 3, but I really doubt it.
Kirin 950 already outperformed the SD821 and Exynos 8890 in real life so stop doubting and check out some actual speed test comparison videos.
JZ VR bingo because the mate 9 software is still new so let the company that design it to update the software for better then we can review it after that.
Kirin GPU is suck
daniel kudo how suck? Do you know anything about Kirin 960 GPU?

awesome review , Michael !
U r the best !
The back of the phone is absolutely gorgeous
Agreed!
Love your reviews, so relaxing.
The background music makes me remember CW's The OC, which I used to watch when I was a teenager 🤓
Lots of Pinback on the OC, as I recall. Best band ever.
awesome video as usual
I was subbed and notified of your videos and when I went to like it said I wasn't subbed

Por-Shuh...LOL... Thanks for sharing Mr. Mobile! Merry Christmas Michael

Carolina Vallario omg how much does the X cost?

Yeah... Me too...
Logos on the front HAVE to go for every manufacturer!
Can't really justify the price when you have phones like the One plus 3T for the fraction of the price with similar if not better specs.
That intro statement did not age well, didn't it?
your review is always super and I am a big fan of you
Watching this in 2022 and can't believe that was worth $1500

One year later and everyone's clammering for the iPhone X
I love watching a video about a device that i know i will never ever buy. It gives you sense of freedom
Whatttt!! I didn't know you had your own channel. I was wondering where you went on pocket now.
ugh, those brand names on the front are hideous. all the space that can be used for a front firing speaker and they use it for letters
To be fair, the earpiece becomes one half of the dual-speaker arrangement, ala HTC 10.
Just went into a Porsche design shop today, they said that they weren't carrying the Porsche Design Mate 9 in store, only the older Porsche Design Blackberry.
why you have so less subscribers? Your reviews are best sir. I watch and like every review of yours. God bless you.
Don't know why but Music in this video is really amazing than other videos of yours.(no offence for other videos)
Even Apple will call it 'Overpriced' shit.
Exactly
0:02 the subtitles show $15000
For a minute I was like what? 😂😂
Disagree about the complaints on the camera software: Google camera UI is oversimplified while the Huawei/Leica camera app provides much more features but it's still easy to use, swipe up to access the manual controls is very useful.

My nexus 6P skips tracks on spotify or anything when I rotate the display
I watched this and now I'm thinking about the iPhone xs lmao
Can anyone tell me where I can get the wallpaper from 5:12?
another great review
got the Star Trek: Enterprise on point
That Porsche logo is too damn bold.
laughs in Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra
you can pull/slide down cropped notifs in huawei phones to see more
Michael what are your wishes for the next CES?
Hmm, the NX Enterprise on a Porsche phone? Literally the Chevrolet Spark of starhips running on a Porsche. :P
Cold
MrMobile [Michael Fisher] Haha, sorry about that. I like Enterprise & keep the theme song on my playlist but the NX-01 isn't my favourite. However, it's impossible not to like it a little because it shares ques with the E & of course the Akira Class. Plus having heard Drexler defend it on Trek Yards, I certainly respect it. Now the Discovery however... (joke).
Great review
can you please review the dell aleinware 13 and graphics amplifier with a GTX 1080
But I thought Tony Stark liked Audi Design?
Nawaz Waseem they're all VW group btw...
Felipe Augusto You clearly never got the joke.
Nawaz Waseem that's for sure! Haha just wanted to say that
lol…i see what you did there
LOL times have changed fast
Where can I find that "Dark Mode" option exactly? 📱👍
A good review as always... But couldn't read the article as I'm not subscribed to that news paper. =(
Vector Watch ? still worth having a look at it ?
It saying "PORSCHE DESIGN" at the top is like holding a sign that reads "I'm rich! rob me!
Can you do some camera comparisons? And some kind of smartphone awards of 2016 would love to see that on your channel:-)
Camera's meant to be a little noisy, but very sharp and true to life; that's Leica's style.
before I watch the video, let me guess, he doesn't like it 🙄
Cool shade, bro
MrMobile [Michael Fisher] I'm so weak 😂
the Software plagues every Huawei phone review...
nice review 😊😁
Keep making the great videos Mr mobile :) As a side note, what phone do you use daily right now?
Changes all the time, but I'm currently switching back to a Moto Z to keep using the N build on it (and that JBL speaker mod is no joke for a radio addict like me).
hey Michael what platform do u use for your chalk drawings?
2:47 HDC 10, so you mean the clone?
Just what part of this thing did Porsche actually design??
Steven D, The Porsche logo.
Steven D not a damn piece of leather or alcantara in sight!!!

Steven D Well, the logo
I love your videos
Thanks! I love making them!
Love you Micheal ❤❤❤
Oh , and I'm the first one 😬
This layout is SO CONFUSING AND AESTHETICALLY UNPLEASING
Why haven't you tested the HP Elite X3?
great review. but there is nothing wrong with the camera settings set up. the pro dslr users would love it, but, of course, those who only take selfies will not.
just slap a porsche logo on it and boom its $1500
Are you gonna do the mate 9 review? Normal version.
Saludos
intriguing review...
Wow, what a rip off. Good review though Michael!
those premium ear buds also come with a $400 ZTE Axon 7
benchmarks? is the device same as the standard mate pro version?
