Could you provide further elaboration on your assertion? As far as I'm aware, none of the companies that the current government has invested in have failed, as they are all still in progress.
The Trudeau government has provided significant financial support to various electric vehicle (EV) initiatives in Canada, including Northvolt's plan to build a massive EV battery manufacturing plant in Montreal. This project, expected to be completed by 2026, aims to create up to 3,000 jobs and produce enough battery cells to power around one million electric vehicles annually. However, such investments come at a substantial cost, with the federal and provincial governments contributing $2.7 billion and offering production incentives totaling up to $4.6 billion. These subsidies aim to bolster Canada's position in the global EV industry, alongside other initiatives like the Ford EV plant in Quebec and the Stellantis-LG battery plant in Ontario. Transparency in funding allocation is crucial to ensure accountability and trust with taxpayers. The success and impact of these investments will unfold over time. So we all need to be patient.
Stellantis and LG Energy Solution: In March 2022, Stellantis NV and LG Energy Solution announced plans to invest over $5 billion in building a lithium-ion battery plant in Windsor, Ontario, with financial support from the governments of Canada and Ontario.
EV Charging Infrastructure: The Canadian government is investing in EV charging infrastructure, with funding announced for 6,000 EV chargers during national EV Week, totaling CAD 45 million. Companies like Hydro Québec and Shell Canada are among the beneficiaries of these funds.
Honda’s Investment: Honda is investing $15 billion in new EV assembly and battery-cell plants at their Alliston campus in Ontario, aiming to expand their presence in the EV market.
Research and Supply Chain Support: The federal government is allocating $83.5 million over three years to support research at the Canadian Light Source facility, covering various areas including electric vehicle technology. Budget 2024 proposes a new electric vehicle supply chain tax credit to bolster Canada's automotive industry and create jobs.

@@cleopatrasnile 15 billion is an insane amount of money. This is just a handout to a company (formally Peugeot who acquired Fiat) whose CEO is partner with the WEF. This is all Davos nonsense, a massive waste of taxpayer dollars!

    • @cleopatrasnile
      @cleopatrasnile 20 дней назад

@@cleomenes01 Since it utilizes taxpayer funds, all government spending could be perceived as allocations or distributions (handouts). Whether $15 billion is an absurd amount depends on perspective. It represents a strategic investment in sustainable technology, job creation, and economic growth. The government’s goal is to foster innovation, reduce emissions, and position Canada as a leader in the global EV market. While some may view it as a handout, it’s essential to consider the long-term benefits. Investing in EVs can lead to job creation, technological advancements, and environmental gains. The government likely sees this as a strategic move to boost the economy, create jobs, and address climate change.
As for your concerns with the Peugeot and Fiat Merger, the merger aimed to create a stronger automotive entity, but like any major corporate action, it had both potential benefits and challenges. Whether it was ultimately “bad” depends on various factors, including market dynamics, regulatory impact, and long-term outcomes. So we will see.
What innovative proposals do you have in mind? How would you allocate taxpayer funds? Share your ideas on government investments that prioritize the future of Canadian taxpayers without merely redistributing funds among them.

Absolutely it can! LOL, British Columbia's electrical grid is well-equipped to handle the increasing number of electric vehicles (EVs) hitting the roads. Allow me to clarify, as it seems you haven't conducted your own research.
BC Hydro is at the forefront of facilitating the transition to electric mobility. They've been expanding their public charging network, offering incentives for EV purchases, and closely monitoring the EV market's evolution.
BC Hydro has foreseen the surge in EV adoption and has projected the demand accordingly. By 2030, they anticipate around 330,000 EVs on BC roads, with an additional 1,000 gigawatt-hours of electricity load per year. Fortunately, BC Hydro has the capacity to meet this demand.
BC Hydro's groundbreaking vehicle-to-grid pilot project for medium and heavy-duty EVs demonstrates their commitment to innovation. This initiative not only supports EV owners but also enhances grid flexibility and resilience.
With 98% of BC Hydro's electricity generation already coming from clean sources, including renewable energy, the province is well on its way to a sustainable energy future. The plan to acquire 100% of additional electricity from renewable or clean sources further reinforces BC's commitment to environmental stewardship.
Since 1980, BC Hydro has been a key player in providing 98% clean electricity to British Columbia.
While BC Hydro is prepared, it's crucial to acknowledge the challenges Canada faces in adapting its electricity systems to accommodate the increasing EV adoption. Addressing these challenges will require concerted efforts and innovative solutions.
In conclusion, BC Hydro's proactive measures and commitment to clean energy position the province favorably to handle the influx of EVs. The transition to electric mobility aligns with BC's environmental goals and contributes to a cleaner, greener future for the province.

Don’t forget this is just the latest in HUGE payouts for these EV plants… I think we’ve topped $30Billion now! To profitable companies, no less, who don’t need these breaks, and who have signed no contracts guaranteeing local labor etc.

The EV program announced by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's government is indeed a significant initiative aimed at promoting electric vehicle (EV) production and creating jobs.
      Honda's Project:
      - Honda is set to build an electric vehicle battery plant adjacent to its existing Alliston assembly plant in Ontario.
      - The project is part of a $15-billion investment by Honda to establish a supply chain for EVs in the province.
      - The two main plants (battery plant and assembly plant) are expected to create **1,000 new jobs** in addition to retaining the existing **4,200 jobs** at the assembly plant.
      - When fully operational in **2028**, the assembly plant is projected to produce up to 240,000 vehicles per year.
      Funding Breakdown:
      - The total cost of the project, including both public and private funds, is up to $15 billion.
      - The **public funds** portion amounts to **$5 billion**:
      - Federal Contribution: The federal government will provide around **$2.5 billion** to Honda through **tax credits**.
      - Ontario's Commitment: Ontario has committed to providing up to **$2.5 billion** directly (for capital costs) and indirectly (such as covering site servicing costs).
      Cost per Job:
      - With **1,000 new jobs** expected to be created, the cost per job can be calculated as follows:
      - Cost per job = Total public funds / Number of new jobs
      - Cost per job = $5 billion / 1,000 jobs
      - Cost per job ≈ **$5 million**.
This investment is not just about creating green products but also about investing in workers and communities. The project aims to benefit Canada's economy and ensure long-term employment opportunities for generations to come.
In summary, while the program involves a substantial investment, it is intended to boost the EV industry, create jobs, and contribute to a greener future.

Now we’re throwing around Billions… orders of magnitude more money, and everyone is supposed to clap and smile and pretend we’re not facing the biggest financial crisis since the 80’s? CANADA IS IN DEBT up to its eyeballs. We don’t have money, we have record levels of debt thanks to out of control spending, just like this. Spending more money we don’t have will not fix the problem, it will only make it worse!

Let's not exaggerate; he isn't the most incompetent Prime Minister ever. I agree that it would have been preferable for certain actions to have been taken earlier. However, the relentless grip of the pandemic, which halted the world in its tracks since March 2020, remains unabated. As of early March 2023, global confirmed cases have exceeded 759 million, with a staggering death toll of 6.87 million. In Canada alone, there have been over 4.6 million cases and 51,447 deaths. This pandemic stands as one of the deadliest in history, inflicting profound economic and social disruptions worldwide.
Back in 2015, the electric vehicle market was just beginning to emerge. The technology, infrastructure, and consumer acceptance were far less developed compared to today. Over the past decade, there has been a global shift toward sustainability and climate action. International agreements like the Paris Agreement put pressure on countries to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
Maybe you can consider giving Trudeau a break? Governments, by nature, tend to move slowly; it's just the way they operate.

Fast forward to 2019, where about 5,911,588 votes, or 33.1% of the population, gave them a nod. And let's not forget the NDP coalition, adding their 15.9% or roughly 2,849,214 individual votes to the mix. With all these numbers swirling around, it seems like they've got quite the support base for 2025. Time will tell if they can keep the momentum going!

Bringing an electrician into the political arena would certainly spark some interesting debates! While I appreciate your sentiment, it's important to remember that elections are a crucial part of our democracy. Holding an election, despite the misspelling, would indeed burden taxpayers. Special elections entail substantial expenses, varying based on circumstances. The 44th federal general election in 2021 cost approximately $616.8 million, around $22.42 per registered voter, with inflation influencing overall costs. As for the concerns about corruption and racism, let's keep the dialogue constructive and focus on policies that benefit all Canadians.

Well, aren't you just a delightful conversationalist! Allow me to enlighten you with a breakdown, given that you seem to lack the knack for fact-checking.
The 2024 Trudeau budget prioritizes investments in the electric vehicle (EV) supply chain and job creation. Key highlights include:
      1. Investments in EV Supply Chain Research: The budget allocates $83.5 million over 3 years to support research at the Canadian Light Source, focusing on EV technology advancement.
      2. Electric Vehicle Supply Chain Tax Credit: A new tax credit is proposed to bolster Canada's EV supply chain, aiming to create high-quality jobs and secure the country's position in the automotive industry.
      3. Honda's Investment: Honda Canada's $15 billion investment in Ontario marks Canada's first comprehensive EV supply chain, expected to generate thousands of new jobs.
      4. Cost of Tax Credit: The EV supply chain tax credit is estimated to cost $80 million over five years, with additional allocations from 2029-30 to 2034-35.
Overall, these initiatives aim to position Canada as a leader in EVs while fostering economic growth and job opportunities. In essence, while the direct cost to taxpayers is the $80 million tax credit, the broader impact on the economy and job market suggests potential long-term benefits that may outweigh the initial investment. The creation of thousands of new jobs in the EV supply chain, as a result of Honda’s investment, will contribute to economic growth and generate tax revenue.

To begin with, it's important to note that Trudeau didn't cause the housing crisis in Canada. Nevertheless, his government is actively taking steps to address it.
The 2024 federal budget proposed under Trudeau's government addresses the critical housing crisis in Canada with a comprehensive plan. It aims to accelerate housing construction to an unprecedented level, ensuring that no Canadian spends more than 30% of their income on housing costs. With a target of creating 3.87 million new homes by 2031, including measures to support at least 1.2 million net new homes, the government emphasizes collaboration among all levels of government to achieve these goals.
Moreover, the budget recognizes the challenges faced by young adults in accessing affordable homeownership and commits to restoring fairness by making housing more accessible. By prioritizing housing affordability, the government aims to stimulate economic growth through increased community investment and productivity.
The Trudeau government's housing plans are among the most progressive and ambitious in recent decades, aiming to address the housing crisis head-on. With a goal of creating 3.87 million new homes by 2031, including a focus on affordability and fairness, these plans demonstrate a commitment to substantial change. Prioritizing affordability, especially for young adults seeking homeownership, sets this initiative apart, reflecting an understanding of the economic and social impact of housing policy.
Despite challenges and skepticism, such as inflation and the need for collaboration, these plans represent a significant leap forward in tackling the housing crisis.
The Canadian housing crisis has deep-seated origins influenced by various factors over the years. One significant contributor was the post-2008 financial crisis during the Harper government, which led to soaring housing prices across the country, especially in cities like Vancouver and Toronto.
Land appreciation played a pivotal role, with real estate values doubling in regions like British Columbia between 2007 and 2018.
Meanwhile, wage growth stagnated, exacerbating affordability challenges. Despite stable homeownership rates overall, inequality widened, particularly affecting millennials' ability to purchase homes. The expansion of mortgage debt and house prices began in the late 1990s, fueled by low inflation and interest rates.
This is not solely attributable to Justin Trudeau, nor is it the result of a single factor. While I do acknowledge the significance of the housing crisis and the urgent need for its resolution, it should be addressed through comprehensive and multifaceted strategies.
