    Marilyn Manson is an incredibly intelligent man. If you ever get the oportunity look up an interview with him. He puts deep meaning into his lyrics and everything he says is with measured intent. Love his music. Oh and keep killing it with these videos Alex.

      That's why I hate the moms who are like "he make kids violent". I just laugh at them. If you watch top 10 times Marilyn Manson outclassed interviewers, he says how it's always better to be screaming curse words then hurting someone. This is art. When rage was expressed and not repressed. When it wasn't loaded into a magazine into an AR-15.

      @Solanstusx 5 лет назад +25

      I do feel like, at least in this case, Manson is able to convey a slightly different but no less poignant message in both versions of the song with the line "Hate every motherfucker that's in your way" / "Hate every other hater that's in your way".
      The first implies that everyone in your way is a "motherfucker", or someone who is beneath you or somehow dirty or not deserving of your attention.
      Hating "every other hater", on the other hand, implies that everyone is doing the exact same thing, trying to clear everyone out of their way in their own rat race, and by pushing all the other haters out of their *own* way they are pushing them into other people's way who push them out once more and the cycle continues until everyone is pushing each other around trying desperately to reach their higher status.
      It's very clever in a trademark Manson way to be able to censor his songs by ostensibly making the lyrics even deeper.

    • @dekai7992
      @dekai7992 3 года назад

      More precisely, it's the upper classes, the "strong" (and, in the context of MM's symbolism here, fascists now and back in Nazi Germany) who need someone to ostracise, to beat down on and to scapegoat in order to be able to feel like the strong ones and as a pretence to justify their violent acts.

He is SO misunderstood and it really is a disappointment that so many people hate him just based on face value! He has gotta be one of the most underrated singer/songwriters there is! The man is a fuckin genius and he stands as a reflection of the stark reality of American society as a whole and he forces us to take a long, hard look at ourselves right down to the bone! Thank you so much for reacting to this song and for giving Marilyn Manson the respect he deserves! Long time Manson fan - To the point where he's "Brian" personally to me. I feel like we've been friends for years. Every bullying issue, every break up, every surgery, every friend's suicide, every jail visit, every trip to the mental ward, every questionable time in my life - MM has been there to help me make sense of the world, find my iron spine again & bring me back to a peace of mind. Thank you, MM!!! \m/ And thank you, Alex, for this incredible, well deserved review & appreciation of what this song is about!!!

    Dear Alex and all of you out there scrolling through the comments,
    I'm here to suggest a very very very unknown and underrated Band. They've released their 1st album back in 2014 but they're also recording their second right now. In my personal opinion the first album is already on par with bands like Blind Guardian, Powerwolf or Orden Ogan, which you should definetly check out as well. Their called STILVERLIGHT and so is their debut album which is fully uploaded on RUclips by themselves. I would really like to see you do a reaction on their Song FRAGILE LIE. I think your channel would give them a little push, which they really deserve.
    Greetings from a random guy hoping to get some attention to his favorite band :)

    Manson is pointing out here as in other songs, many times through irony and sarcasm (as he does here), that truly being beautiful is not about being “beautiful”, it’s about being yourself, or “free”; also how those seeking only to be surface beautiful, are actually shallow and blind, and can use their beauty as a means to be cruel to others; that those particular kinds of beautiful people aren’t really beautiful at all. Manson’s art (doesn’t seem to do it justice to only call it music) has always been about the dichotomy, irony, apathy, and hypocrisy of pop culture, and how those things present in religion, politics, human nature, the media, Hollywood and main stream society at large. How we celebrate, and elevate, both the horrific and the sublime in equal measure. How that then equates to the fear, violence and sex that drives consumerism. Even his stage name, “Marilyn Manson”, was taken from two iconic figures of American pop culture, however on opposing ends of the same spectrum, and the interesting and very real correlation between the two; one being the atrocious or hideous (Charles Manson) and the other being the beautiful or desired (Marilyn Monroe). Both dominated media and the consciousness of America, albeit for completely different reasons. The point being we all have both in us, in different measure. Including Manson himself, who is both a beautiful artistic genius and someone with ugly personal demons. And this is one of the reasons I admire and respect his genius, his art, and him as a person, and 🖤his music and art . He’s a highly intelligent person, and his art reflects that. He’s also one of the most important and creative artists of all time. Not to sound trite or arrogant 🤣, to earn my Master’s of Sociology, my thesis was “Manson: The Artist We Love To Hate, The Art We Hate To Love”. 👍 in addition, I actually had the incredible honor of getting to meet and talk with Manson in person once, in November 1998. You know they say never meet your heroes, because they don’t and won’t live up to your expectations. Well, he didn’t live up to my expectations; he shattered them and completely exceeded them in every way. As much as I already thought of him as a genius and fantastic artist, I was still completely blown away by him as a person, and in person he’s not what you’d expect going off his stage persona. Completely by chance we happened to have a terrific conversational synergy and he was an absolute delight to talk with. If you’d like me to make a comment and give the rundown of that once in a lifetime, true, and surreal night in 1998, I’m more than happy to. I don’t post it or talk about it much on here, because it means a lot to me and I won’t suffer trolls trying to use it as a platform to talk shit, or call me liar, (or both); but I believe being an intelligent and true appreciator of his, you would enjoy reading it and really get something out of it. Let me know and I’ll share it 🙂

    I'll throw it out there for the fans - there is a live version of this, from 1997 in Koln, it's on a whole other level. The whole band is coked up to the gills, mad at the fucking world, Manson's bleeding after cutting himself with a broken bottle and most importantly, the sound mix is fucking raw on the level you rarely ever hear with mainstream bands like this. THere is an edge to that live version that makes me comeback all these years later
