Interestingly, however, we see Bomin's eyes drift up to focus not on the girl, but on Joochan's character at the very end, so now we're faced with the question: was it the girl Bomin was looking at, or was it actually Joochan? And in fact, this alternate reading is equally as plausible because of how well Bomin performed and the camera work. Since Joochan and the actress are always positioned next to each other, it's very difficult to pinpoint the object of Bomin's gaze. The acting doesn't show anything about a love triangle either; Bomin ultimately pretends he doesn't notice to keep the status quo. One other thing of note is how Bomin is coded black here (both his suit and the umbrella), while Joochan's suit is white and the umbrella is red. Black is a color commonly associated with nothingness and death, so it's implied that he chooses to be passive and he hides away his feelings.
