  • @jaxflfreebird

    I am on metoprolol. I am 59 and have been on blood pressure medicine since I was about 28. I was also on Atenolol. My blood work has never shown a triglyceride issue, none that was put to me. From watching this channel, and my health is in your hands Dr Ken, I stopped taking my statin. I've lost a good bit of weight lately on the Keto diet. And the best part of Keto is I can go much longer without eating and I am not stuffing my face all the time. I am not snacking. I am not eating carbs. I look a whole lot better and my self esteem is coming back too. I was depressed and embarrassed at how my weight was going. I could see this in how people looked at me and how they treated me. I'm still not a pretty boy/man but I look a hell of a lot better now. My big gut is now just some chubb. My calves were so fat that I had to pull my jeans over them. Now my pants fall right off. I can wear all of my size 40 jeans and again and I am on my way down to my older jean sizes. I owe a lot of this to you Dr Ken. Your videos are constructive in my life.

Wasn't overweight, normal SAD diet at the time that all my friends ate yet they never had triglyceride readings like mine. 30 years later, I've still yet to have a Dr. tell me WHY they were (and still are, though not as high) so high, so young, with an average/"normal" eating routine back then.

    I try not to think of pharmaceuticals as bad, since they are life-saving for many but after watching the almost inevitable cascade of medications that take place when caring for the elderly and now being elderly myself, I strongly think we were not meant to take these as a steady diet long term. A med bothers the stomach, so another med is prescribed, which causes another side effect, which calls for another prescription and so on. And the patient is in misery so his or her life can be prolonged a year or more. What life? What are we doing?

      You need to talk to a geriatric pharmacist. My mother had one who went through all her medication and sorted out what everything was for. The reality is that your doctor is not trained for things like interactions and they are only considering the current medical issue when they prescribe something. Once you take more then one medication you need to get close to your pharmacist because they spend years studying that.

      You are very fortunate to have a good doctor! Doctors I've seen spend the least amount of time they can, quick to try to prescribe statins and other pharmaceutical drugs rhat i refuse, and now I'm considered a "non-compliant patient." They also look at me like I'm crazy when I mention the keto diet or intermittent fasting like they've never heard of these before. I worked in the medical field for 37 years and know detailed anatomy, yet if I use the correct name of a body part instead of pretending I don't know, they are annoyed for some reason.

    I was put on HCTH and it raised my cholesterol. Then the doctor put me in Statins. I finally got aggravated because the statins wasn’t pulling my cholesterol down to where it was. I quit taking everything, norvasc, HCTH and statins and found a new doctor. He later put me on a beta blocker but I quit that because I couldn’t remember to take them. By that time I was doing Paleo and my BO was leveling out. After going Keto, I have an excellent BP. No meds at all. Not bad for a 69 year old.

  • @lenabreijer1311
    @lenabreijer1311 2 года назад +3

    Once you start taking medication, you need to get a good, close relationship with your pharmacist, they have spent years studying interactions and side effects, your doctor only learned to prescribe medication for issues. And frequently they are completely focused on the current issue, not on all your other issues. This goes double for specialists . When I had problems with my BP meds, they made me cough, I arranged a consultation with the pharmacist to find out the best replacement and took that to my doctor to get a new prescription.

    Dr. Berry. You say the proper human diet doesn't include any carbs or fructose. However if our ancestors ate fruit and things as they came in season, then wouldn't you agree that enjoying a few tomatoes and cucumbers and melons in the summer and maybe some blackberries would be acceptable WHEN they are in season? Maybe a potato in the fall? Please talk about this or make a video on this subject. Why its ok to go with the seasons or why we should avoid this practice. Thanks for all the great videos

I had to ask for these tests. I asked my PCP to order them which she did. Still waiting on them to come back. I suspect low thyroid. Already know i am Pre-diabetic. But for 20 years have been feeling fatigue, hair loss, most of symptoms of what was described by Dr. Berrys video. these tests should be included on annual exams or what they call "preventative care". I have been on keto 3 yrs but still have not lossed weight due to I suspect thyroid. I eat mostly keto.. Will share once I get report.

      Take any beta-blocker ONLY in the morning when you wake up. When you wake up your heart rate goes up to meet the day time activities. In the evening and while sleeping your heart rate is low. A beta-blocker slows down your heart to lower your blood pressure or reduce the workload and thus oxygen demand of your heart .

Once I went to my family doctor after that and checking my blood I was put on metformin now I’m diabetic. These doctor’s I have had are no good. I have a sensitive system I think it’s because of having autoimmune disease I have a list of medications I can not take. I have high blood pressure one of my doctors throughout my journey of bad doctors gave me a pill called ATACAN this pill put me in the hospital 3 times and the ER heart doctor finally asked me who was the doctor prescribing me this pill and I told him and he said the last 3 times I came in the ER my potassium was low and he explained you’re heart needs potassium. So I ended up with afib from this. But my current doctor tried telling me it’s my weight and I had afib for 8 years and kept telling these doctors I have a feeling like a flutter in my chest. No one done anything. I’m now on a blood thinner Xeralto but don’t understand why am I on a beta blocker again. I need a good doctor and here in Michigan they rather see you die. These doctors are seriously not good here. I don’t know what to do or where to look for a good doctor that doesn’t discriminate against bigger people. Without trying to push weight lost surgery on me not even know how I got this way.
