People hyped this game up way too much. I kept my expectations in check and found it to be a really fun game with a lot of potential. But certain individuals who over-exaggerate it as this big bad Smash Bros killer have hurt this game's reputation, leading many to see it as an underwhelming launch when the developers never promised all that much to begin with. The devs have all my respect and I hope the game becomes less broken in the future, but it's such a shame to see Nickelodeon and Viacom pretend it doesn't exist, and have GameMill do all the PR work.
Whats more, as per the dev note, we finally have some evidence that more than just Thaddues a houseplant and a janitor are working on the game. Confirmation that they plan to be seriously working on the game for atleast another 4 months is good news enough.
I think I'll need to wait more until more content to beef up the game comes out before eventually buying it. Garfield sadly is not enough yet for me to consider it and even then my excitement for him wasn't that hyped considering him and Shredder got datamined beforehand. Although they said those two were meant to be in the base game so it was kinda obvious Nick or someone from the higher ups were rushing them to get it out in the rather barebones state it's currently in at the moment.
I do really enjoy this game, even if it is fairly broken. I love playing as Ren and Stimpy and Garfield and will crack out a few games per night for shits and giggles. Hell, I did fairly well in a tourney today(even if it was only for one match lmao). The game is fun and it scratches an itch that games like ultimate and rivals are a bit too slow to scratch, even if said speed is what allow the competitive scene to break biweekly. It feels like the party game that Sakurai was aiming to make with less polish but a similar amount of love.
really hope the game gets in a better place soon so people are interested in it more again also thats the first time ive seen blue pat mentioned in a while lol
This game having a $50 price tag is insane and the main cause of its downfall at the end of the day. Say what you want about ult but for that price you’re putting yourself in direct competition with the best platform fighter currently out.
It's most similar to melee and the advantage over melee is the significantly lower barrier to entry. Ultimate is just a bad game so not much argument to make there
