I loved the role he played in Deevar. He portrayed the image of a smuggler boss very effectively
Shishir ji very nice. Iftikhar Sahb did good supporting rolls, known for Don, Khel khel mein, Sangam, Khamoshi, Aaj ka Daur, Daag, and police Inspectors in more than 75 films. I also liked his detailed work on TV in Air-hostess, where he played a retired Pilot, who help as a pilot in emergency when he was travelling as passenger.
He was the best actor to play police officer ..and his clean voice and dialogue fluency was great..greatest.
We all miss him ..still miss him and Bollywood still miss another actor to throw police uniform without thinking anything.

Iftekhar was a good artiste. I liked his role in "Achanak " starring Vinod Khanna & Lili Chakrawarty, directed by Gulzar. Role was small but very prominent. I think he was jailer in this film. He played the role very well.

Excellent. I too was under impression that Veena (Tawajut Sultana) was his sister. Very good information. Iftekar may have got much better money after 1970 to buy house in Khar but his acting was always excellent in Teesri Manzil or even in film Shri 429, Jagte Raho etc. Teesri Manzil was his best and fearsome inspector.
What about Don.. Deewar..khel khel mein..he was excellent

Iftekhar was one of the 'Taash' partners of Dadamoni, along with Om Prakash, who lived nearby.
They would often meet at Dadamoni's home in Union Park, Chembur.
I would visit Dadamoni every time I visited India. Those were the BEST days.

A minor correction: 'Ittefaq' starring Rajesh Khanna was released in 1969 n not in1959. Enjoyed the video thoroughly. Iftekhar remains Indian Cinema's most authentic Police Officer who always added gravitas to the proceedings.

Raj Kapoor cast Iftikhar as air force officer in Sangam.He did that role very well and I think that was the turning point of his life.He may have been cast by Yash Chopra in Ittefaq on the basis of his Sangam role as Yash was a follower of Raj Kapoor style of filmmaking.

I have a good respect on iftekhar sahab.
When my father was serving in Army, During early 70's He was posted at A.S.P.T now A.I.P.T PUNE.
IN A.S.P.T There was a very important Olympian named Anant Ram ,He was serving as a lone subedar major in P.T.SCHOOL.
He resembles like our iftekhar sahab.
When ever I see our iftekhar sahab in screen, I remember Anant Ramji who was a good expert in Gymnastics.
During his last Tenture At A.S.P.T
He use to perform gymnastics along with young Army jawan's During A.P.T.C core day functions
