I have been curious abouit anti hair wrap style of vacuum too. My wife's hair is not as long but still just as much of a pain. I am curious about the Kenmore BU4050 but can't find any RUclips videos on it and would prefer bagged. So glad Mrs. Lab likes it so much. Watch out Thomas.
As a vacuum collector it pains me to say this. I have 3 sharks... One absolute favorite. They are definitely disposable machines but, they do have some very nice convenience aspects of their design.
I'm a professional carpet cleaner. Last week I did a job where the homeowner had 3 German shepherds that shed heavily. She had pre vacuumed before I arrived with her shark. I re-vacuumed with my Kirby Sentria and took up tons of dog hair. Sharks seem fine for average soil conditions. But not so much on embedded hair and dirt.

Low CFM vacuums with trick brushrolls do an OK job at "surface scraping", but can't get deep down debris as you've noticed.
