ABOUT THE OXFORD UNION SOCIETY: The Oxford Union is the world's most prestigious debating society, with an unparalleled reputation for bringing international guests and speakers to Oxford. Since 1823, the Union has been promoting debate and discussion not just in Oxford University, but across the globe.
The Oxford Union is deeply grateful and encouraged by the messages of support in response to our determination to uphold free speech. During our 200 year history, many have tried to shut us down. As the effects of self-imposed censorship on university campuses, social media and the arts show no signs of dissipating, the importance of upholding free speech remains as critical today as it did when we were founded in 1823. Your support is critical in enabling The Oxford Union to continue its mission without interruption and without interference. You can support the Oxford Union here: oxford-union.o...

He’s talking really about political activism and trying to crow-bar ideas about the law into his world view.
    Hubris.

    I don't think he is a King's Council anymore?
Justice is not about what YOU want. It's about what's best for everyone. Jolyon speaks as if he already knows what is justice and that because the law doesn't agree with him it's wrong. Why should the world follow his beliefs?
He appears ideologically captured by his own fiercely held political views and his view is clouded. I know, I have been there. He confuses law with politics and that's not what law is. I believe he supports giving children dangerous puberty blockers that stops them fully developing as adults. Trans is an ideology It is people who have decided they are trans because they have been told that by equally captured people. Activism / ideology and law should not be mixed. Activist lawyers threaten our democracy.

I think negotiation is fine but you want to go in quite hard at first.
Tbf I think activists tend to be more radical than the communities they come from.
I think most left voters in the UK want a bit of common sense socialism, i.e renationalise water and rail + better rights at work. Very few people are out and out Trotskyites.
Likewise I find most people from minority backgrounds just don't want people to be racist and are against institutional discrimination where it exists. They don't want hardline SJW policies.
