I... Did not like Blue Eyed Samurai. Most of here opponent weren't that good, armor was borderline useless, the MC's combat skills and attitude didn't match her backstory. Strictly speaking, she wasn't even a samurai. Her mother, not to be rude, was some hooker who had the bad luck to be sent to service a foreign dignitary. While the base premise is good, the execution wasn't.
I am optimistic they will. As soon as Mizu said, there were 4 foreigners that she was hunting, I knew that this season was going to be just one foreigner. Since she already killed the first one, I’m sure there’s going to be at least 3 seasons, so two more seasons to go at the very least.
Ending pissed me off because of the cliffhanger and how she just left without telling anyone anything. Also, it's like the white dude didn't even want to kill her or the samurai
My idea for a potential plot twist. Maybe after she kills all of her potential fathers she realizes it was never her father who was the Westener, but her mother.
It's unlikely because, as the show has shown, women are still properties to be bartered in this time period. Before Japan closed its borders, only tradesmen, explorers, and missionaries came into Japan. None of those professions were held by women. It would've been very rare for a foreign woman to have stepped into Japan.
@@khher1979 Right, but what is known about these four men is that they were involved in human trafficking. And maybe the mother was brought to a Japanese nobleman as an „exotic gift“. Or maybe another reason, like a forbidden romance. It could also be that one of the traders brought his wife with him, who had an affair with a Japanese nobleman. Both would explain why Mizu‘s family could afford to have a nursemaid. Maybe the mother and daughter were kept hidden until the palace was raided.
@@khher1979 And to go even further than that. The trader could‘ve found out about his wife‘s affair. And as an act of revenge, he orchestrated the raid of Mizu‘s home. It would all come full circle. Mizu‘s whole life would be the product of revenge itself.
@@WeAreLegion-The MC Mizu is a woman, but she goes by HE because she has to disguise herself as a man to do what she wants (like Mulan, Mulan went by He and no one batted an eye)
So glad that you covered this! I honestly love the dynamic between Mizu and Taigen. I think they mirror each other in a fire and ice sense. They complement each other. Where one is lacking the other makes up for it and vice versa. They both even have goals/aspirations that they take too far (revenge vs honor). I really hope season two builds upon this and includes more interactions between the two. I feel as though it might be the case that they make each other better people. Taigen becomes more down to earth and Mizu learns that love can be a strength not a weakness. It could build up to her learning to love and be loved by others (although it may be a long road to reach that conclusion).
@@amukhb8608 god I really hope they don't. i just wanna see a show where an opposite-sex pair of friends are badass ass-kickers, also, there was a little moment where taigen basically got a hard-on for her. but I've been thinking, doesn't that make him gay---or at least bi? because then, he didn't know that mizu was a woman yet, and pretty much got hard for a guy.
To my surprise Akemi actually ended up my favorite by the end of it all, she’s easily the smartest character in this show 😭🙌 the way she constantly talked her way through all the men in this show was SO WELL WRITTEN, if Mizu taught her how to throw hands she’d be unstoppable 🤣
I think Akemi's mind is her strength and is designed to a show abother type of strength different from Mizu. But it would be nice to see Akemi to learn how to fight.
@@iamtoxic4663 yeah well said, one of the strengths of the series is that while Akemi isn’t a fighter shes EASILY one of the most capable individuals in the show just given the way she talks circles around other people. She’s super well written and I found it SUPER easy to root for her haha, I was worried at first they were gonna make her kinda bitchy but they made her super warm which was a nice choice.
It also helps the fact her husband does not seem to be the monster he's painted as. Quite the contrary... someone who is easily manipulated by his mother, can be manipulated by a wife too. Although Akemi had tons of gold... on her own, with no fighting skills.. how far could she go? She made the only logical choice that could lead her down to her path of Greatness. Hasta la vista Taigen lmao
Thank god you're talking about it, I want this show to get more seasons and can't STAND it not being talked about. I know it's very new, but GOD IT'S SO GOOD!
Saw this series 2 days ago and was blown away by the animation, fight sequences, voice acting, storytelling, and overall production quality. Def up there with Invincible and Arcane as my faves. I still can't decide if I love that ending tho, but I can understand the narrative direction the showrunners took.
I saw episode 5 last night and what happened was stuck in my head the entire night right into the next morning I was so sad for her and heartbroken that was like damn it she didn't deserve that
Even more heartbreaking is that her step mother didn't betray her. She quit her addiction but Mizu doesn't have medical knowledge so she will never know it wasn't her.
@@karolinakuc4783 How do we know who betrayed her? I thought that Fowler said that she protected mizu while she was being paid, implicating that she betrayed mizu when there wasn't money anymore.
I loved this show so much! Mizu's character is such a refreshing female bad ass. She's not your typical annoying girl who's so full of herself. I love her deep confidence and the simplicity of how she dresses. Mizu feels like the female spirit striped of all embellishments and raw emotion and drive has consumed her.
i absolutely love how they represented women in this story. I enjoyed the refreshing take of not shoving down modern feminism down our throats but instead approaching these topics from a historical context and understanding the difficulties that the characters went through and how the prevailing societal situations influenced how they interacted with their environment and society and also the decisions they made to be able to live and survive in that world.
@discorabbit Riiight, that's why there's so many good honorable men in the show. Tiegen, sword father, mizu's apprentice whatever his name was (the literal epitome of goodness in the show), akemi's male servant who raised her, akemi's husband who turns out to be good but controlled by an evil women. Yup completely one dimensional show where all men are bad and all women are good/badasses instead of all characters being unique individuals with their own motivations and moral compass regardless of gender - you have brain rot
your choice of words is mad interesting like "typical annoying girl who's so full of herself"... misogynistic if you ask me. really weird. distasteful.
The two archetypal portrayals of feminine strength from Akemi and Mizu are so beautiful to see unfolding. Not that you always agree with exactly how Mizu uses her strength, but she is undoubtedly powerful as hell, more so than all these men (except maybe the spiritual strength of her Sword master). It conveys how women can be strong in sexual feminine ways, or by embodying their more masculine energies. Sometimes these warrior-female shows dont do justice to the power of the soft feminine strength, too. I love that Akemi fought as a prostitute and through her sensuality and softness. And then Mizu fought with her masculine qualities. They are like a yin yang of each other, and though not always in agreement, sort of needed each other. Mizu's character is also such a butch hottie. Ngl when I first saw ep 1 that was def a bonus😛
Absolutely awesome especially episode 5 or 6 where they had that fight where they had the camera non-stop continuously trained on Mizu was gorgeous I really hope they pick it up for a second season and see where this leads
As a special needs mom to 2 young bi-racial children (autism & down syndrome) this series really inspired me. They depicted individuals with disabilities, especially Ringo, in such a respectful and positive way. I hope that they continue this in a second season. For me personally, the weight of my 3rd year in law school has recently been weighing me down and this series really lifted me up emotionally. It's inspired me to continue striving "to be great" at wielding the law in service to others.
This show is astonishing. Will become a classic. The only misstep in self-assured storytelling is the decision to end with Mizou heading to London with her mortal enemy. Not killing Fowler went against Mizou's core motivator that "revenge does not wait". It takes her away from her "found family" in Ringo, Teagin and Akemei, characters we are already invested in. I was viscerally disappointed that we didn't get a payoff on Mizou's revenge arc or a satisfying conclusion by seeing her go back to Swordfather for her new sword, the sword she earned. It might be somewhat interesting for S2 setting in London convulsed in the English Revolution, but the third character of this series is 17th c Japan, the culture, the topography, the music. It's not a given that we'll get a S2, given the series' slow start. Just puzzling. Still, this is one of the best new series--it's right up there with Arcane.
i agree, there was so much i wanted to see at the end that i was disappointed about - Mizu leaving her new friends and sword-father and going off to London. it opened up interesting possibilities of more mysteries to uncover in upcoming seasons, but it didn't feel satisfying the way I wanted it to be. the only thing I like about her going off to London is hopefully by meeting more white people she will learn to accept who she is and realize white people are humans just like the Japanese and maybe she'll stop being so racist :D I really really hope Taigen somehow joins her again on her adventure, i loved their friendship and thought they had such a fun dynamic.
How can our thoughts on this series be so similar. 😅 I’m not a native English speaker so I find it tough to put it down in words like you did. Your comment really sums up every possible critique I could think of watching this show. I also agree that the viewers weren’t treated with a proper ending. Maybe that’s what the writers want, to keep us viewers guessing with what happens next. Guess we will have to wait to fund out. The fight scene between Mizou and Fowler at the end also felt a tad bit short in terms of cinematography if I’m honest. But all in all, a great series.
@@ppoank2768 Thank you. I mean, I guess it'll be interesting to see how Mizou navigates pre-Restoration London, but interrogating European racism has already been exhaustively done, and it'll be hard to top Castlevania for a critique of religious bigotry. My hope is that the S2 starts back in Japan with Mizou telling us her adventures in London as flashbacks.
my take on why these shows are niche is because most of us apply western ideals of story telling to cultures that do no think that way. Japanese culture has no room for sentimentality long term. Motivations change and adaptations happen very fast. Akemi, taigen, mizu and Ringo are not friends they are a group of individuals with different motivators that may seem like friendship but are more of honor bound. Which is why this story would be a bit hard to work if set in a different cultural context. Its why I was stunned on the commentary in the episode where the young deaf girl was killed instead of being rescued. People online did not view that situation in the context of the culture the characters were living in. So in that view we may not get they same kind of emotional payoff in the conventional sense of what mainstream western media gives us.
Thank you for your review. Watched season 1 during the weekend and was completely amazed by it. Strong story and beautiful animation. Can't wait for season 2
True, but zuko seeks to restore his honor so that his banishment will be lifted and to get to return home, while taigen seeks to regain honor for his messed up hair. In my opinion taigens reason to kill Mizu is really poor. Please tell me if you agree but the fact that Taigen even after Mizu saved his life and spared him in their first dual still wants to kill her after everything they have been through, makes him a really bad and selfish person. Do u agree with that or do you have a different perspective?
The writing and cast, let alone the artwork is purely phenomenal. There is so much talent to be seen I felt like I had to pause this at times just to appreciate the artwork and admire the talent of those that made it.
It was an excellent show, well done by all involved. Mizu is not a character I rooted for, don't get it wrong, I like her very much. I sat back and watched in awe as she did her thing like a hurricane or a tornado. And now with her going to london she see that the world is a lot bigger than just japan.
It’s one of the greatest shows ever. The animation, the cinematography, the script and the storyline, the uniqueness. 10/10 for me. It will be one of those shows that you will be rewatching later in life.
I really enjoyed the series and I really hope that a second season will be announced. So much potential and ideas. I wonder what happened to Taigen? Maybe, as you suggested, he went after Mizu? They had good chemistry and tension, it would be a pity if we dont see any development furthermore. Akemi is awesome at the end, can't wait to see her becoming great!
Taigen better have snuck onto that ship. I would be much more open to london if Mizu and Taigen would end up there together. Or alternatively, Taigen attempts to get to london after her and eventually gets there? I want them to have a lot of scenes together because their dynamic is so entertaining!
I hope he snuck in too 😂 Yeah they have great chemistry and I immensely enjoyed their scenes together. I can see her going back to Japan because she feels so out of place after dealing with her dad and them just randomly encountering one another lol@@realityisascam
2:29 This is one thing that mildly irked me from a historical perspective. The Japanese DID have firearms, even during this time period. They would've been a few decades old by this point, but arquebus style tanegashima would have been something the Japanese would have known about and possessed for years. And gunsmiths and gun storehouses would have still dotted the country even at this point. Now to be fair, at the very, very, very beginning of the show they clarify that its western imported firearms that are outlawed, but then at the finale they act as if the western guns are some magical game changer that the shogun soldiers were awed by and had no tactics to fight against, even though entire field manuals from the warring states period were written on how to both use and fight against firearms of this type.
Mizu straight up said "not a japanese pistol" in the first ep, implying there are japanese designed firearms. But then edo were protected by... archers. And clueless commanders. A very minor issues, but while it's fine to make up alt history. It's less fine to contradict what the world buildng already established beforehand.
@@burneden Exactly. I’m thinking the shogun fathered her and his wife is behind wanting baby Mizu murdered to save face and as a denial to Western influences within the shogunate.
@@burnedenbecause Women had really no path in life in that time period other than to be married off or sold to a brothel. She was also told to be a boy because they knew the half breed was a girl.
@@ani-ma-tion5326 That still doesn't explain it. Were all girls disguised? no? so why her? They know shes a half breed because of her eyes not her gender. Unless of course the 4 want to eliminate their bastards. But why? People have bastards all the time. Unless unless the writers didn't really go that deep which is a bit of a let down then.
I really hope more people start covering this show, it’s honestly one of the best shows I’ve seen in so long 10/10, the action sequence at the end of episode 5 literally had me screaming at my tv us was so epic 😭🙌
Fowler's got some mad cunning manipulation skills - he talks Rizu into helping him. Helping him get safely out of Japan (and on the road back to London). I imagine leaving Japan would have been more dangerous and deadly for him with her help. It's the everyday people who would be most likely to try to kill him or not help him.
This is now one of my all-time favorite shows. It was so well done from the animation, the writing, the storyline everything was absolutely beautiful and artistically creative. I am so excited for season 2 #BlueEyeSamurai #BlueEyeSamuraiSeason2
I think it is a great show in 2023 to me. I feel like I watch live action and animation together. The cutscenes, the characters and many things in this animation remind me of dreams, painful memories, nightmares and hope. Not to mention that many people call Mizu demon but that doesn’t make a few people that remen in her life called her that but cheers her, protect her and heal her. I hope season 2 I will see more of her heart open up to those people. I just really really love this show that I could cry!
I just randomly decided to put it on for background noise and it was captivating. I actually stopped doing what I was doing and was hooked immediately. I’m really hoping there is a season 2 and more to come!
fowler is also a master manipulator... keeping himself alive by saying those things to mizu... i hope mizu at least cut off one of his arms or something...
i can see why this show was stated to be 4 seasons long... first season is all character intro... 2nd season is about miz in london... she prob wont get to those mentioned other two white guys until the end of the season.. 3rd season could see her back in japn... we will also be able to see how akemi deals w being someone in charge and using her father etc
Good story, compelling as well as gorgeous. Overloaded with seemingly (i'm no expert) historical details on 17th century Japan, city life as well as the natural surroundings, there is so much to enjoy. Of course, the action is brutal, but bears also mythological features: the tribulations of Mizu, the main character, are more than any human could possibly endure. Her skills are more than legendary. Of course you know she never dies: that would have meant end of story, you know this, but the beautiful film-like rendering and the psychology of the characters makes it believable. The plot is extremely simple, of course, but the many side stories of the epic journey of this character, make the series rather human and very, very enjoyable. In some way, this reminds me of Tolkien's Lord of the Rings. Even the antagonist Fowler character gets some human profile, as he tells us in the last episode what he had to endure as a child in Ireland in those days. It explains some of the evil he shows as a character. Dialogues are mostly intelligent and give profile to the cast of characters. There are no flat characters in this series, and, judging by how many there are, i think this is a huge accomplishment. I binged it in two evenings, was ablazed at the ending, and look already forward to the next series.
So when you say ENDING EXPLAINED, all you decides to do was to recap the season and throw in few “perhaps” and “maybe” before you ask everyone what they think. So misleading.
*great recap video* Can't have enough praise for this show and the people behind the show. I don't understand how big companies like Marvel and Disney, with all their resources and money, can't produce shows to this level of excellence. This show is pure love of storytelling without any hidden agendas. *Masterpiece* gets thrown around a lot, but this series, from all the short clips and behind-the-scene videos I have seen, is truly a masterpiece in storytelling. It shows rather than tells, letting us feel and figure out rather than just being spoon fed. It treats us as individuals with the capacity to see and hear the nuances of what is shown and let us deduce the why and the what and the how. It has a great balance of drama and action. I'm *THIS CLOSE* to paying for a subscription to NETFLIX just for this series. Maybe when season 2 comes along, it'll push me over the edge to pay for it. you have a new subber in me. 👍
oh you can't possibly expect that girl-boss indoctrination from Netflix sticks to an original culture. But it has to be(come) British or American if it is foreign and worth something. You can't possibly expect for Japanese story to remain Japanese if it becomes popular!
@@cetterus Not difficult to read, but makes little sense. The rest of the characters are still in japan, this is a split pov show. She has every reason to go to London, it'd make sense for the men to leave Japan.
I want to think that Mizu finds out they werent actually a product of rape but their parents were actually in love and married. Since Mizu's life was so violent that was a possibility that hadnt even crossed their mind and would probably be the whiplash of a fucking century, especially since it was probably forshadowed in the brothel that they deny parts of their soul like love to go down their path of revenge AND Fowler implying Mizu's potential father as the worst one of all was a cheap attempt to hurt them.
This show was amazing! One of the best things (maybe the best!) I watched this year. The stunning beauty and incredibly well-told story with every character deeply portrayed. I can’t wait for more. Thank you for discussing this!
Absulutely loved this show, evrything fits perfectly and i am totally hyped for season two. Again i ask myself, how does Netflix do this trick, bringing out a series of such quality right out of nowhere ? mentioning Mizus list (her tattoo) and the fact that she now has names and the last scene reminded me of Aria Stark in Game of Thrones, where she is on a ship too, sailing to a new horizon
Netflix has done a good job of not sensoring its shows too much and being open minded, such as this, the Dragon Prince, and others. They also spend a ton of money on distribution, so they're bound to get some hits.
@@pagliaccisghost269 im totally with you. I was more reffering to the visual approach in BES, mizu standing at the reling looking for more adventure to come
Amazing series, honestly. Episode 5 is a masterpiece. Also, how could you miss the opportunity to show Mizu's dads when you said "daddy loves you very much"?
I think if one makes an animated series for adults, the plot should be more realistic. When Mizu tries to get into Folwers castle, is too much. Also the end, when Fowler could have killed him many times, but after waiting 10 years and his plan gotten foiled, he immediately enters in discussion with Mizu on London... its always sacrificing realism for plot. After he has been "imprisoned" 10 years in this castle, he lets Mizu imprison him in a boat and get him to England... just too much in too short time
This was a top Quality series. I am super excited for season 2. I don' t blame Mizu for having such a heart. Life has been unfair to her so she is a product of her environment. I wouldn't say her heart has hate, as she was hated for being a mixed breed. Very similar to racism in America. Overall the series was perfect.
I had watched this video just to see what it was about, then I watched the show for my self and OMG it was amazing, I loved the characters, the story, and the animation. So I'm really excited to see were season 2 will start and end.
this and Captain laserhawk were the best series of this year. Truly a masterpiece, I can't wait for the second season! (will you also consider review Captain laserhawk? it's really really good,)
This was such a good series. I hope they have a season two it truly was well created well acted well directed. I just everything about. It was really good. I I enjoyed this series. Hope they have a Season 2
We need MORE!!!! When?! Best show yet! The fight is out of this world! Her rage and determination to get revenge 🤯she’s unstoppable ✊🏻 Tagan and Mizu need to end up together, they’re meant to be and Akemi needs to restore the mess left behind and tule all those suckers 😂
The creators did mention in an interview they wanted a love triangle after the interviewer mentioned wanting to see a kiss between Mizu and Akemi. So we’ll see how that goes down. If not Akemi, maybe Mizu will meet another woman in London. She could use a female ally.
I loved every second of the first season. The action sequences, the dialogue and the depiction of the characters. They didn't made another woke shit out of it. Everything was historicly genuine. The social standing of women in japanese society and those of mixed ethnicity during the Edo period. Mizo's way of fighting doesn't portray her as a man with boobs. Her physique is the result of a life-long devotion to sword fighting. While some of those fights resemble those of Quentin Tarantino or John Woo, they draw a fine line between the over-the-top anime style and realism. The result is a piece of art (in my opinion).
Great story line, great voice actors and the story line well written with the choices a individual will make to succeed and the price that will be extracted from the soul.
I really hope the show itsef is aware that, in order for Mizu to be born with blue eyes, BOTH of her parents would likely have had to carry the recessive blue eye gene. The characters wouldn't know that, surely, but this little detail sounds important. Especially after Fowler's whole "how little do you know" speech
Hope Mizu and her Husband in episode 5 was a permanent sort of thing. It was a beautiful relationship. It broke my heart when she has to kill him. I still cannot get over the episode 5 and why her husband snapped suddenly and later realised his folly. Further, was her mother really alive? was that husband real? or were those just hallucinations for Mizu?
I believe it was a scenario caused due to mizu constantly being on the edge of dying, like when people who were about to die but didn’t tell about „hallucinations“ they experienced while unconscious. I believe it was the creators answer to „What would have happened had Mizu‘s mother survived?“ or in general: „What would‘ve happened if Mizu had lived a completely normal life?“ Spoilers for the end of episode 5: As we can see from the pitiful end of Mizu‘s parallel life as a normal wife with a normal husband, it did not end well for her. The transition from that idle domestic life to the absolute slaughter of everyone by Mizu‘s hands was definitely saying, that even if Mizu had end up in a different place with different circumstances, destruction follows her everywhere. You could say her path was always meant to be one of death. No matter how she ends up, where or with whom, her destructive nature will never allow her to live a normal life. Even if it was never her intention to destroy. We can actually see that during the scene where she play fights (by her standards) with her husband. He suddenly begins to waver and we can see how in his mind he hesitates trying to counter Mizu‘s strikes. In the end, she dooms everyone. Even her own mother, who we aren’t even sure of is her mother. It all plays out like in a hysterical, almost ironic theater play. Except it is, it is a theater play. A „What if?“ question.
@@camtungo4003 Honestly, I'm pretty sure the episode was not a what-if scenario but something that happened to her. Seems like a brief period after she left Master Eiji and prior to killing the first foreigner man. She gets hurt and finds her "mother" once again; and so, she decides to live peacefully. She is then tragically betrayed by both her husband and "mother" in the end, of course. This exemplifies her being unable to be welcomed or have any sort of peace; and as you said, really showing that destruction follows her. Therefore, she becomes the cold-hearted onryo and aims to once again go on a path of vengeance, to kill the one responsible for causing her a life of misfortune. All in all, really great episode and the parallel to the puppet show was mwah - chef's kiss.
@@yo_yo_master99 It wasnt a hallucination, It happened before she killed the first white guy before the series. She found her mother and stopped her revenge quest, but then it all fell apart.

Small fire had no chance of burning the whole Edo, Japan had fire force (that what they were called) to deal with it. It is said that the big fire was caused by Meritor shower that set fire to many places and overwhelmed the Fire Force. Also Japan did have foreigner during that Era. A LOT of foreigners but they were restricted to Edo and the Southern region. Guns were controlled but were common, however western firearm and most important western gun powder (which was way better than Japanese gun powder) were not and they were NOT CHEAP nor easy to made. Highly unlikely that Fowler can access to huge amount of western gun powder.
I read they were dealing with hurricane type winds that season which helped the fire spread faster. We know foreigners weren't allowed in japan during this time, the show tells us at the very beginning. Fowler had been saving money for 20 years by secretly trading with the shogun. He could probably afford whatever type of gunpowder he wanted.
Please do a video on BES, covering the origins of the asteroid Mizu used to forge her sword. Im surprised no one’s talking about it. The fact that, Swordfather discovers that the asteroid produces a different sound whenever he hits it three times and that its one of the strongest metals he’s ever come across, just makes its origins as mysterious as Mizu’s.
Anime is like music, it's an art form that has people with good and bad taste. Frankly, I want to see more anime like this show instead of mainstream-generic shounen trash that gives anime a bad name. Thank you Think Story for bringing attention to a hidden gem.
So many problem with anime boils down to how fast they have to churn out episodes for the schedule. And how cheap it must be to turn a profit. I read vinland saga and the first 4 eps please me so much, it's worth seeing even if you already read the manga multiple time due to how sublime the directing was. But at ep5 onward, cinematic qualities took a nose dive outside the action scenes. We come back to usual anime boring dialog shots reverse shot, mouth flapping and exposition dump instead of cinematic visual storytelling. I'm sure if the staff were given more time and money to cook, the quality would have been as consistent as this series. Alas they were not.
Honestly I don't know why some good anime or animation like this always not from Japan animation studio. I think it's about "time". If they got more time, we will get good qualities in terms of story, characters, animation, music and cinematography. Japan always rushing like when they started the project, they need to finish and airing the anime on that time. That's why I kinda miss the old anime because the animation is more fluid and has great story with good cinematographer. Sometimes, we got good qualities on all of these terms from japan animation studio if the story or show was from Western like Cyberpunk Edgerunner and Star Wars: Vision season 1 because Western publisher will give more time to them than Japan animation studio did. That's why, most of animators now love to work with Chinese animation studio since they got more time and high paid.

I absolutely LOVED this show! I was so happy that you covered it because no one is talking about it.
Indeed 10/10
Corrrrrecttt nothing online! It’s an exquisite series
Exactly, it boggles my mind that not many content creators aren't covering this. It's so good. I think I'm going to re binge it this coming weekend.

I hope they don't make them a couple I fking despise it lol
Yeah couldn't have said it better 💯
@@amukhb8608 god I really hope they don't. i just wanna see a show where an opposite-sex pair of friends are badass ass-kickers, also, there was a little moment where taigen basically got a hard-on for her. but I've been thinking, doesn't that make him gay---or at least bi? because then, he didn't know that mizu was a woman yet, and pretty much got hard for a guy.
Taigen is going to be relieved when he finds out Mizu’s a woman. He was starting to catch feelings 😂
@@mgnathGood point. It’s something I’ve noticed as well. Probably it’s a rumour instructed by his mother to make them fear the shogunate

I hope a lot of well known reviewers review this one... at least its #3 most searched anime and 5th top ten in USA netflix
Saw this series 2 days ago and was blown away by the animation, fight sequences, voice acting, storytelling, and overall production quality. Def up there with Invincible and Arcane as my faves. I still can't decide if I love that ending tho, but I can understand the narrative direction the showrunners took.
They're staying close to the real story and events that unfolded in real life. These people ACTUALLY lived!!! 😮💪✌️
I'll take your word for it since I don't know anything about the Edo period in Japanese history. 😉🤓
Totally agree with you!!!! 👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿
Aww, thanks@@Rosebuddz_Revenge. Cheers!
The show was a 10/10 tbh, But i didn't really like the voice acting.
Her husband was such a crazy twist. My heart hurt for her so bad seeing her actually be happy. And of course.. That didn't last.

@@mercynamikoye9084but they do shove modern feminism down our throats in this 😆. “Men bad, women badass” is the story
Loved everything. Binge watched the whole stuff in 2 days
Akemi is the absolute worse.
The swordfather artist dialogue was so good, especially it hit me hard as an actual artist.
I hope you can be great at law
Maybe the ship never reached london.got wrecked before it went far from Japan yada yada yada..... just saying
How can our thoughts on this series be so similar. 😅
I’m not a native English speaker so I find it tough to put it down in words like you did.
They better get a season 2
Am I the only one seeing how much taigen reminds me of Zuko. Not only the voice but also his personality and goals in life.
Yup! The guy trying to get back his honor
London about to get real. She better get on her gun skills.

Agreed. It’d be bummer if they didn’t have any scenes together in season 2
@@realityisascam No way he's on the ship, he's staying by Akemi's side no matter what.
@@ruedizzle317 ?? how is he gonna stay by akemi's side when she's married to the shogun's brother?
Its a clown show
Mizu straight up said "not a japanese pistol" in the first ep, implying there are japanese designed firearms.
But then edo were protected by... archers. And clueless commanders.
A very minor issues, but while it's fine to make up alt history. It's less fine to contradict what the world buildng already established beforehand.
It's a mystical idea of Japan. Not only guns were comon but samurai embraced their use by that time just like western knights did.
I think there will be a twist that Mizu’s biological mother is the European and her father was an important Japanese noble- maybe even the shogun.
That's a pretty darn good theory.
There has to be something. I question why it was so important not only to disguise her as a boy, but also why such a high bounty was on her.
The Story is beautifully told in the quiet moments and less words. Wonderful.

Fr tho, for all we know the other two guys are dead and Fowler is just leading her to an ambush 😅
i can see why this show was stated to be 4 seasons long... first season is all character intro...
*great recap video*
Can't have enough praise for this show and the people behind the show.

@@cetterusWhat are you on about😂
@@ani-ma-tion5326 oh cmon. It is not that difficult to read. Is it?
Honestly my favorite part was the puppet show storytelling interwoven with the real story. Clever and beautiful.

Yes, but unlike Game of Thrones, many of the people in Blue Eyed Demon, actually lived. There are old stories about them all.😮✌️
Netflix has done a good job of not sensoring its shows too much and being open minded, such as this, the Dragon Prince, and others. They also spend a ton of money on distribution, so they're bound to get some hits.

After he has been "imprisoned" 10 years in this castle, he lets Mizu imprison him in a boat and get him to England... just too much in too short time
if we dont get a season two I'm gonna be so sad

This was a top Quality series. I am super excited for season 2. I don' t blame Mizu for having such a heart. Life has been unfair to her so she is a product of her environment. I wouldn't say her heart has hate, as she was hated for being a mixed breed. Very similar to racism in America. Overall the series was perfect.

Absolutely loved the show...looking forward to season 2!
I have a feeling that Mizu is not only gonna have a thing with Taigen, but also, with Akemi. That would satisfy me very much.
I just watched the first episode and now I'm addicted! I need more!
Netflix better get more seasons 😩😩
I never watch animation but I took a peek at this one and I couldn't stop watching. Excellent story.
I believe it was the creators answer to „What would have happened had Mizu‘s mother survived?“ or in general: „What would‘ve happened if Mizu had lived a completely normal life?“
Spoilers for the end of episode 5:
As we can see from the pitiful end of Mizu‘s parallel life as a normal wife with a normal husband, it did not end well for her.
@@camtungo4003 Got it mate! Thanks!
@@yo_yo_master99 wasn’t a hallucination
This show hooked me from start to finish!!!!!!!! Such an amazing story!
Mizu's mother may actually be one of the 4 whom Mizu sworn her revenge on.
This is a great show. Voice cast is amazing. Animations are terrific. Need to see 3 more chapters.
I was hooked from episode 1. I wish more franchises had compelling protagonists like this.
Strong female badass awesome relatable protagonist
What was relatable about
Mizu??
Need a season 2. London is wild.
i feel this show has everything...great writing, visuals and topics without shoving any agenda down our throats as with most shows nowadays. Its just a great story
He could probably afford whatever type of gunpowder he wanted.
i think the final plot twist will be her mother is the one who actually white.
So i saw that you made a vidon this and ran to go binge it and...I WAS NAH DISAPPOINTED!!! Everything from the storytelling to casting was just peeeerfect!!! HONESTLY I WISH SEASON 2 WAS OUT NOW!!!
