What are some of your favorite selections from Boar's Head?
Their mortadella is surprisingly not awful. Whoever wrote this has never had mortadella, though.
Prosciutto Di Parma
Londonport, even it is on the pricey side. I can not find any store local carries it. I live 30 miles north of Chicago😢
Corned beef
Top round life baby
Jerk turkey
Jerk chicken
Curry chicken/turkey

Boar's Head is overrated garbage!
@@irafinkelstein1107imagine charging $16 a pound for fucking chicken
@@plunktun2384maby in your region but not mine. I generally buy in 1/4 to 1/3 a lb increments anyway so my sandwich costs 3-4 Dollars a day. Good deal to me.
@@irafinkelstein1107 said by a person that never tried it.
It's supermarket deli meat... all it has to do is be better than Oscar Mayer LOL.
I love the olive loaf. Put it on Jewish rye bread with mustard and maybe a tiny bit of mayo. I think it's great. I also like to put potatoes chips on the sandwich too. I like to put tater chips on lots of different sandwiches.
I like the olive loaf too
I totally agree with the olive loaf! One of my favorites that I buy every week. The Lebanon Bologna is another one you have with mayo and salty potoato chips! I grew up eating that as I'm originally from there and I'm so glad the chips on sandwiches are becoming a thing! People used to see me putting charles chips on my sandwiches and I got the side eye. lol
Love olive loaf but we don’t get it here
@@STVG71I agree with you. Taste great on Rye bread
Olive loaf a great flavor just like I had on jr high sandwiches 60 years ago. the boars head trucks then looked like armored cars
I love Boars head beef bologna and beef hotdogs with Guldens spicy brown mustard..add on sour kraught, I'm in love
Add a half sour pickle and you have lunch heaven.
I worked at a Supermarket deli in South Florida which sold Boars Head products and I agree with this list. A must try if you like spicy meats is the Boars Head Blackened Turkey.
My favorite was their Cajun Turkey. At $16 a pound though, it's no longer in the budget.. 😟😒
I used to sell this stuff at the deli in NY. I thought most of the stuff was pretty good,
If you DID, then you know it's neither Capocollo or Capicola but rather 'gabbagool.' 😂
Lebanon bologna is outstanding, the texture is good, and I am someone who is turned off by soft luncheon meat. I first found it in Pennsylvania some years ago, it has found its way south. If you dont like the rind, peel it off, I do.
The best Lebanon bologna is the Seltzer stuff. I will not hear arguments on this as I work in a deli
Agreed. Lebanon bologna is the best, seltzer at that
Worst shit I ever ate.
@@captainforrix956The best Lebanon bologna was made by my great-grandmother. And before you even say anything, I grew up in PA Dutch Country
Maple glazed, honey turkey for me.
You forgot the Salsalino turkey which is really good and I love the ham.
Salsalito?
You missed the roast beef deluxe and the mesquite wood smoked turkey breast.
The liverwurst is always completely sold out because older people love it
Yes my 97 year old grandmother has a sandwhich everyday for lunch and always on her weekly shopping list is liverwurst
Thats some nasty shiet
Rosemary ham is my favorite!! Sooooo refreshing especially in the Spring & Summer!
BH is the best at my market The Pastrami and Roast Beef are my favorite 😋
Olive loaf is the only meat beside the liver loaf that has some health benefits. Sliceable liver/bologna is brilliant! And the olive loaf is the only other one I would eat again.
I've been eating all those on the shouldn't list since I was a kid, 80 years ago.......I especially love the Liverwurst on rye bread with a half-sour pickle......The Mortadella and the Olive Terrine are so tasty with a dab of mustard and some nice crusty bread...YUM.....
Wasted your whole life, eh?😂
LOL
I love 46% lower sodium turkey breast but my local grocery store feels it necessary to slice the very ends to pass off for $16 per pound. For $16 you shouldn’t get old ends of the meat… In my opinion…
Deutschemacher bologna was a thing I grew up on. Boars head is good, but honestly, who can afford 10.99 a pound these days? Not us regular folks trying to make a living and paying bills.
Their roast beef is $18 a lb now! Crazy
@rockinrob2004 you're right, that's INSANE.
Try $19.99 a lb for the Turkey !! As of 3/2024 !! I think last yr. It was $11/lb !! 😖😖😖
The people that review these items don't understand the history. It originated in NY, and in its early days would only be found in a deli. The selections back then were much less, but to the faithful that grew up on Boars Head, nothing comes close. It kills me that deli culture is dying in NY and when Boars Head decided to become available in grocery stores, that didn't help. I'm glad it's available out of state finally. For those that lived in the NY area from the 70s on, grew up on Boars Head. The classic items are still around, mostly the ones this reviewer didn't like, and I think that's mostly age related. As a transplanted NYer, I live in the Chicago area, and are really glad I can get Boards Head at the local supermarket.
Boars Head all beef Hot Dogs are the best I have had the pleasure of eating.. Most Grocery Stores have carreied this brand of Hot Dogs. Very Good tasting Hot Dogs.
I agree. BH natural casing all beef hot dogs are, far and away, the very best🌭
My favorite is their Garlic Bologna! 😋
Mortadella ❤️
You messed up not trying the salsalito turkey! I’d say it’s one of boars heads best meats!
I truly enjoy their 🍖 ! I have become fond of London broil / cracked pepper milk turkey. Great for grinder 🥪
The Sweet Slice Ham is the best deli ham ever. A shocking omission.
I think the Black Forest ham is better. I do love the Sweet Slice though.
My favorite is the no salt added turkey. It’s low calorie, low fat, no sodium, and packed with protein. Makes for really healthier sandwiches.
New title for this review " let's dump on Boars Head"! Even the better comments were qualified.
Wegman's own charcuterie meats are much better than anything from Boar's Head, and it's a bit cheaper. They have the best sopressata to be found outside a true deli.
The maple honey turkey is the only cold cut turkey I'll eat. I worked in a high school cafeteria where they sold Boars Head products and they let us have a free lunch every day. I always said if I ended up getting another job I'd go out of my way to buy the Boars Head stuff so I could keep eating the same sandwich. And I ended up doing just that because the stores near me don't carry it. I have to drive to a store two towns away to get it. The cold cuts at my local store, (ShopRite in central NJ,) suck, especially the turkey. It taste completely different and it's disgusting.
My Deepest condolences. Living in Jerk me off. Aka New Jersey.
I love olive loaf. There's a Boar's Head plant in town here.
The olive loaf and lebanon bologna are do die for! Put them on the right bread with the right condiments and the lebanon bolonga with some thin potato chips and you have some very good sandwiches!
Thanks!
I tried their Chorizo Chicken Sausage and was pretty impressed by it. It was quite hot.
What you should do is not let the cringy people at Mashed tell you what you should and shouldn't be buying.
Hey, as a deli counterman, I can give you a better heads up. And offer you a free sample, so you can taste for yourself. Why take their word for it?!? Come see me!
When I go back to Michigan I have to get some of that Yale Bologna !😀
Boars head mortadella. Beef Bologna. Low sodium ham. Roasted Turkey. I shop at an out of the way store, just to have my favorites. These weird types seem aimed at catching those looking for novelty.
😂😂😂
Every time I fly home to NY I take an empty suitcase I bring back sandwich meat and Italian bread
I love Lebanon bologna... can get it sweet or unsweet, which is what I prefer. Yummy on a soft roll with Provolone cheese. I miss it since moving from Lancaster, PA to NC.
Lebanon bologna is awesome.
Thrie mesquite smoked turkey breast is really good, as is their peppered ham
The only good Boar’s Head deli meat is the olive loaf. It’s fabulous.
I like the olive loaf as well but as they noted the olives are much harder than the meat which kinda loses the point of it.
Didn't know they made that. I'd love to try it.
Keep your stinking hands off of my olive loaf. I know it's junk food, but I like it . Olives and bologna mixed together. It's genius on white bread with yellow mustard and a sack of kettle chips
I haven't had a bronx combo in a while, deluxe ham, cappy, Genoa salami, olive loaf, sharp prov, hot cherry peps
garlic 🧄 bologna 👍👍
I love the Turkey Pastrami and their Ham!
Pffft, I love olive loaf. Your description just made it sound all the better. Some of us like texture in food. Pablum seems more to the narrator and whomever they represent's tastes.
i love boar's head bologna and liverwurst, even better together
In this video I know that BOARS HEAD dominates the market but many delis don't offer prosciutto or spiral ham to make it VIRGINIA STYLE and prosciutto is not cheap And the besy well known brand is PROSCIUTTO DE PARMA which averages 25.00 per pound and try speck and forget mortelle which is bologna with fat specks and you can see it but I like cold cuts either as a snack or a sandwich on whole grain toasted wth lettuce tomatoes onions mayo mustard and a little hot Asian sauce for a slight kick pickle and coleslaw with FRENCH FRIES and a side of mayonnaise and black pepper good meal with a hot soup of the day as I really don't care for chicken noodle as that is old something different from the norm and we are in the winter and people want something to warm up the body excellent flavor and packed with vegetables and a protein item to give us energy and nutrients lunch and dinner good meal
I love their curry chicken. Great in wraps
I LOVE Boar’s Head meat! Stop putting them down! They are the BEST deli meat ever!!
They're overrated, not saying bad because they aren't, just overrated.
Cracked Pepper Turkey and Salsalito Turkey are the best poultry ones they make. Their hard salami is meh, but their Genoa is solid, as is the salami In the white paper. I actually love the olive loaf and Lebonon Bologna. Board's Head American cheese is the Best!
Boar's Head horseradish pickles are phenomenal!
Wegman's London Broil is definitely better than BH. Better seasoned, meaning it's a tad more salty and lemony.
Very similar to their chipotle chicken is the buffalo chicken which is also great, def on the dry side but I heat it up and melt cheddar cheese on top and always have the meat touching some mayo. I am also a fan of the smoked turkey and Black Forest ham. The roast beef is honestly 50/50 some times it’s complete shit. I usually just make my own by sous vide a bottom round and I have a deli slicer at home so it ends up being ALOT cheaper and A lot tastier. But now after watching this I want to try making the smoked turkey I bet smoking it fresh is even better.
Boar’s head has a big presence across coastal Georgia
As a deli counterman, starting in a Jewish deli in Boston, you can almost always do better than Boar's Head. It's for customers who are paying for the name. And if you see a sandwich shop that advertises serving exclusively Boar's Head meats and cheeses, beware! You're paying too much for second and third rate!
Boar's Head corned beef would taste great for someone who eats it with mayonnaise and American cheese on white bread. Top round?
@@irafinkelstein1107 In the Jewish home and delis I grew up in corned beef and pastrami were always brisket. Top round is the only thing you see in a supermarket deli..ugh.
I worked for Boar’s Head for 25 years. They do have both Corned Beef and Pastrami from the Navel cut. Sold mainly to delis. Definitely has lost its first rate status due to its growth over the years, but not third rate. I’ll put their Mortadella up with almost any other that’s domestic.
My favorite deli meat
All Stores Please Lower the price of all Military and Local for all Brands of Deli. Meat Products and Accessories and Production Cost Now That's too much $$ The Whole World Now 🙏🙏🙏
I love boars head liverwurst. It’s the only liverwurst I eat. Get it kinda thick half slice of cheese and a little on mayo on the bread. Shit slaps.
All Stores Please Lower the the price of all Military & Local for all Brands of Deli Meat Products & Accessories & Production Cost Now That's too much $$ The Whole World Now 🙏🙏🙏
Oscar Mayer makes the best barbecue loaf there is it's delicious
Just finished my Corned beef today and o agree it is the best. My favorite is the no salt turkey breast. I have to give my kidneys a break and it taste like freshly cut turkey off the bone. Boars Head is favorite deli meat!!
All Stores Please Lower the price of all Military and Local for all Brands of Deli Meat Products and Accessories and Production Cost Now That's too much $$ The Whole World Now 🙏🙏🙏
Somebody used to sell peppered ham, just ham with coarse black pepper. Don't see it anymore...
Grew up with that stuff overall good deli stuff😊😊
Their liverwurst is very traditional. I love it myself.
I disagree with this channel’s assessment of some of the meat…they have their taste preferences and I have mine. While theirs is young and inexperienced, mine has been developed for over 60 years. I’ll rely on my developed taste preferences.
I didn't hear the "shouldn't" part of mortadella. ?
Not entirely sure but could be HEB havent had it in awhile but salsilito is sooo damn good but any deli has gotten more expensive. Id rather cook a steak and have extra for breakfast and sandwiches or other dishes. Steak and eggs is always good the day after but you either have to do it medium rare at first so you do low and slow in the oven but steak and eggs you could get away with setting the microwave lower and cook it or just eat it cut up in a sandwhich cold but i still like it cooked a little. If it is more medium no need to really cook unless just searing it a little
Lebanon bologna should only be Seltzer’s or Weavers only. Boar’s Head it’s completely terrible but it has a brown sugar kick that is not typical for Lebanon bologna.
Chorizo serrano is really good.
I have nothing but love for all the Boarshead products and yet your give them no love whatsoever. In business for over a hundred years for a reason.
Boar's Head liverwurst is great.
love the salami, and the soppressata
Who makes your lists? You left out the best selling items. You omitted the beef & pork bologna (that you referenced slamming the beef bologna), the Genoa salami and the deluxe ham.
UNFORTUNATELY New Zealand doesn't have a great delicatessen selection😢
No Lebanon Bologna beats Seltzers. Go for the red label only. The sweet and other flavors aren't as good. Put butter and mustard on some great bread with Seltzer's Lebanon Bologna is an EXCELLENT sandwich.
I love deli meats, really don't agree with Mashed at all on this, most weeks I have to decide between Dietz and Watson and Boars Head for who has the better comparable products
Boars Head deli meats are the best thing out there other than a local deli making their own meats. Some of these reviews are really off with their assessment of the
products. Whoever did this review have probably not been to a good Jewish or German deli. I have eaten German inspired liverwurst since I was a small boy. Boars Head liverwurst is as good as any out there.
I used to work in a deli. I like the Cracked pepper turkey, buffalo chicken the best. Their salami sucks.
I'm at a loss for words.
The name Mashed actually refers to the brains of these writers
You guys say should or shouldn't but then barely get into why it's bad beyond the Pineapple Turkey
Liverwurst is delicious in limited quantities
Olive Loaf! My favorite.
Personally, I don't know why anyone has a "controversial" issue with certain food combos (like ham and pineapple). Everyone is different with their own taste, so why should ANYONE shame others for what that other person likes? Do you, and let them do them. Stop judging others y what YOU like, and let people just live. Then there's the whole idea of "trendy" foods (Oh that is so last year) is utterly ludicrous!
As an ex deli worker, never again. Too much work
Lebanon/ Sweet Bologna are regional things. If you arent from Dutch Country, you dont understand it. Boars Head should just leave it to the local companies to make lebanon bologna
Liver is not "offal". Pastrami is supposed to be brined, peppered, smoked POINT BRISKET, not "top round". At least they clearly labeled it "Top Round", and not just "pastrami".
All Stores Please Lower the price of all Military and Local for all Brands of Deli Meat Products and Accessories and Production Cost Now That's too much $$ Thats too much $$ The Whole World Now 🙏🙏🙏
Just buy some liver at the store and fry it in olive oil for a few seconds. Eat it at the stove. Best and cheapest health food in America.
IMO Boars Head turkey products are good. The rest of their meats are overrated. Find a good Italian and German deli and taste the difference
sure dont agree with most of what u dont like
Give me a break. Liverwurst is awesome with mustard and a glass of milk, from a cow, not a nut. lol. Some old-fashioned Lay's chips too. Of course, "Fagatarians" might not agree.
I freaking their love olive loaf and (not beef) Bologna.
I base my life upon Boars Head teachings..
Boars Head Turkey products taste like old turkey. Like Thanksgiving turkey after 2 weeks. I want to enjoy 😊it but I can't! I've tried several times. Chicken Chipolte is good as is , so is Tavern Ham.
Wow who payed you off? This was a hit piece…
Boar's Head delicatessen products are remarkably expensive for what they are. The really insightful video would have compared & contrasted identical deli meats between BH and a competing brand, and suggested which one provided the better combined value in terms of price and taste.
As it stands, this video is merely the author's subjective take on things. That's not to say the opinions are uninformed, but as the Comments section makes plain, individual tastes and preferences are wholly subjective by their very definition. Thus the suggestion to broaden the metrics used to offer the recommendations.
The roasted turkey and oven roasted chicken were left out of should!
You're exaggerating the narration on olive loaf. It's divine. If you don't like it, then don't eat it, more for me anyway. To say it's like "gristle" is bogus.......
why the fuck is mortadella a shouldent? thats the best taisting one there.
Hit job
