The Heartbreaking Doctor Strange 2 Scene That Elizabeth Olsen Didn't Enjoy Filming

- Like the title of the movie suggests, "Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness" is full of crazy comic book nonsense. Some audience members are loving it, and some aren't, but based on the box office, everybody wants to see it.
One of the highlights of the movie is Elizabeth Olsen's performance as Wanda Maximoff, the Scarlet Witch - and you've never seen the character quite like this.
Wanda's mission throughout the movie takes her across universes and to some dark places, and in one scene, that darkness got pretty real. This is the heartbreaking "Doctor Strange 2" scene that Elizabeth Olsen didn't enjoy filming.

What did you think of this scene?
intense and dark
Her performance was amazing.
yeah
She is perfect for the role!!!!
what is the mater stop fricking whining
She needs an Oscar for this movie. Her acting was incredible. I’ve been following her as an actress for years. I felt for her. You could see and feel her pain and struggle.
felt for wanda or lizzie?
What blows my mind is how different Elizabeth is irl and in this movie
It was good but not that great to win an Oscar
@@lithitrabu3399 she does deserve an oscar
Oscar for this movie? Hell no. But she does deserve an award for her character arc.
I love her acting. The whole standard of a movie is made believable because of her.
@Emad Raza Dr. Strange is always the second best character when he appears in an MCU movie
Yes it is.
the character arcs of wanda and loki are my fave in the mcu. the way they struggle between what's good and evil, with one trying to cope with the loss of her loved ones and the other trying to find love and acceptance.
I want them to both meet. And talk out with each other it would be a mini therapy.
Yet people are still loving loki unlike wanda so wanda is a verry different brilliant villain arc
Scarlet Witch was Absolutely Fantastic in Dr Strange in The Multiverse of Madness seeing her Drak side was epic

In the movie, Wanda acknowledge about the scarlet witch. The scarlet witch was meant to rule everything, she said. But wanda doesn't want that. She only wants her boys again. Think again to the people who think she's PURELY evil. She's just a mother that literally DOES everything for her children. That includes her actions in the movie. If she was purely evil, she would've tried to rule the multiverse anyways just as what doctor strange thought she would do at first. And another thing, the darkhold had an impact on Wanda also. Without it, wanda would've just swept aside those who came in her way. Or maybe just throw them to walls or smth and not take their lives.
I'm a mother and i totally understand her actions. :D
That’s exactly what I say to friends who think she’s purely “evil.”
I get the feeling that The Scarlet Witch and Wanda are like two different things or opposite to each other, The scarlet witch was meant to rule everything even the multiverse she would literally enslave anyone or kill anyone that stands in her way or disobeys her orders, and for Wanda she's Far more than being pure evil, She literally wants her boys only and not anything else, She doesnt even want to hurt anyone or neither harming innocents, It depends, if she wants to knock them out or not She has many reasons and why she's doing this, Its literally the Darkhold that holds on to her and manipulates her own mind to think that killing people are the only ways to bring her boys back only to know that it wont fix anything and it will only worsen her situation, I understand her pain but that does not mean we can justify her actions and forgive easily, its better to know she should face the consenquences, therefore, She should be mindful and be aware on what she's doing
She's emotionally very vulnerable, which can be good and bad thing
Every person who does evil has a reason for it. Some ends can justify some means, but, come on. This is not merely a mother willing to kill to protect her children. This is a woman willing to kill countless innocents so she could steal the children of her alternate universe counterpart. Billy and Tommy weren't in danger and they weren't unhappy. They already had a mother. Wanda was willing to kill America Chavez, and anyone else on her path, to usurp her other self's place as their mother. That's incredibly selfish.
Empathize with Wanda all you want. Her motives are meant to be sympathetic. But don't act like her motives justify her actions.
Scarlet Witch destroying everything on her way was the best part of the movie. Every previous movie and WandaVision have been building upto this, her incredible power, being stronger than the sorcerer supreme which I think was a reference to the Ancient One.
I may be alone in saying this but when Wanda saw how 838 Tommy and Billy reacted when she showed up and how terrified they were of her, along with Wanda coming to tears, that to me was her snapping out of her darker side and lead her to realize she was corrupted by the Dark Hold and that it had to be destroyed. That being said I would find it interesting if the next time we see Wanda she doesn't have any powers and doesn't remember the events of "WandaVision" or "Multiverse of Madness" and has to relearn what happened, which in turn would horrify her and lead her to doubt if she would want her powers back.
I don’t know if we’re going to see her again because in Doctor Strange 2 near to the ending it’s shown as if she killed herself
I doubt that heavily, you see a red puff of smoke as the building is falling, she most likely teleported away.
@@herecomeslightning6068 she didnt die?
And why would that be good?
Erasing everything that she went through just for her to be a human?
@@herecomeslightning6068 I agree. As far as we know, 616 Wanda is gone.

In the comics, scarlet witch killed superheroes, destroyed timelines, spread a wave of depression in another involving spiderman.
Caused havoc with Magneto. She has always gone from dark to light
Her acting was actually so good i cried at the end
Elizabeth Olsen ....WOW!
What a great performance in Dr. Strange Multiverse....❤️
I love elizabeth Olsen acting. It's really good
She's very brilliant and so Wandaful / wonderful in her acting from WandaVision to DS2MOM, I can never imagine if it's not Elizabeth Olsen who would play that role from the comics and gave life to her as Wanda Maximoff aka The Scarlet Witch.
Lol I got scared when she yelled at them 😂 I didn't know she was hit in the face 🤭
Watched the movie in 3D today and loved it. Elizabeth Olsen is amazing as the Scarlet Witch!! While it is of course a Dr. Strange movie it feels like her story and character carries that movie. After all, it is HER story.
Has anyone else seen the more heroic she acts the brighter her hair gets back when we first saw her working with Hydra her hair was dark and when she became the scarlet witch her hair started turning back to darker shade of red
I don't really see Wanda as a villain per say, her actions may be seen as villainous, but they were born out of grief, after the loss of Vision as well as any possible future they may have had.
She is a villain
She is still a villain. Deal with it
Doesn’t matter the reason, she is a villain in this movie.. it’s just that simple. All villains have a reason for doing what they do, it doesn’t make them less of a villain though. Thanos thinks he’s doing the right thing as well yet he’s still a villain and you know you see him as a villain too, you just sympathize with Wanda because she was shown as an avenger and then a mother before this movie. Serial killers have some reason important to them but they’re still bad. Now, if Wanda was killing BAD guys like the Punisher, then it would be debateable.. but she killed and attacked only innocent people in the movie.
@@bm-zy3gv omg shut up Wanda gone through so much. Wanda only experienced loosing someone in the whole MCU franchise. this is what grief and depression does to people if left untreated but this case it's all darkhold doings, it wasn't Wanda. it influenced her badly and made her do things which Wanda logically normally wouldn't do, if she was a bad person she wouldn't stop the hex in the westview which caused her lose her vision and kids again but she did it because it was hurting people. strange did the same thing but people see him as hero but Wanda as villain.. not fair.
Technically she is an anti villain.
Elizabeth should be recognized for her role in M.o.M. come next year. She totally nailed her role as The Scarlet Witch. I can't wait to see more of her playing the character.
When you realize the acronym for Multiverse of Madness is MOM.......
Elizabeth is so talented I love her work especially as wanda she's brilliant
I thought Olsen wanted House of M but thought Marvel would never have the balls to do it.
How can you have House of M when there were no mutants in the MCU
@@enadegheeghaghe6369 it's not perfect copy adaptation but it was still good.
WandaVision was more the House of M adaption & Doctor Strange more a version of Avengers disassembled. They are kind of flipped but Children Crusade is probably next. Unless they skip all the way to one of her lastest story where Wanda is forged with the dark hold defeating Chthon.
She got very involved with being the villain. In fact she kept getting reminded grief brought her to be a villain and is still human. She said she had to keep remembering that Wanda still had humanity.
Evil Wanda was 🔥 af 😍
I am now concern for Elizabeth Olsen and the toll she had to pay to give us one of the most amazing performances in a superhero movie. Hopefully she's okay.
Agreed
You can’t be serious… I’m sure she’s just fine
@@gabrielmichael3701 that performance could be emotionally taxing at some point so yeah I'm serious.

Well, Scarlet Witch was causing the most madness in the multiverse, hence the title. 😂
@Emad Raza sure m8, he was not cringe at all
I think writers missed a good opportunity for the Earth 838 Wanda to confront Scarlet Witch; like somehow be ready for when Scarlet Witch came back (as she knows something really weird was going on after the dreamwalk ended). She didn't even try to defend her kids. It would have been really neat to see more interaction between them.
Agreed, it would be interesting if 838 Wanda showed up in a Scarlet Witch solo movie and confronts 616 Wanda about what she did.
And what would 838 even do?
616 would've killed her is she wanted to
@@tp5487 Come now...you know Marvel writers can just make anything happen however they want as convenient to the plot right? I mean, America was able to defeat Scarlet Witch by "believing in herself." So picture this - SW bursts in on 838 Wanda, Wanda runs in front of the boys, blocking them from SW, yelling at her to leave now. SW gets upset and blasts her, but W puts up a shield or something (which is of course strong enough to prevent her from getting killed by the shot) but gets knocked away. The boys start throwing things at Wanda and saying "leave our mom alone...etc" and the rest happens as in the movie, but with perhaps more dialogue between the two so the emotional part is not so rushed.
@@inbloombtfl America did not beat Wanda. She even said that she couldn't beat her. All she did was outsmart Wanda.
Haha thanks I dont remember exactly how that scene went but my point is that whatever is needed for the plot the writers will make it possible…and America willing herself to suddenly control her powers at just the right time is certainly a convenient, albeit not so creative, way.
Lizzie deserves a recognition for her acting in MOM. Oscars Hello!!
Who is Lizzie?
The dark side of Scarlet Witch... The Method Actor, lol. Method acting opinions aside, I really liked the movie and she was great in role, he performance was multidimensional.
If any of the Avengers that had the best character development it would be Wanda..they literally made her go through so much and grow through through so much in every movie.. and then in her own show she has the limelight to get called as the scarlet witch finally... I hope her character settles down in the best way possible and she is shown protecting the world and universe alongside other Avengers...tho when the Avengers were there she hadn't had much scenes (although one of the best scenes in every movie) now the old Avengers aren't here..I wonder how much is gonna cover everything in phs 4
I'd totally Wanda the multiverse if I had the power to bring back what was taken away from me.
She destroyed the temple of cthon at Mount wandagore, in the comics when she destroyed that temple ( which serves as a prison to an elder God cthon) she released it by accident. Cthon is a God of chaos magic, creator of the dark hold, father of many demons. Her dying in the temple and destroying the temple is no coincidence???. Mayb it is set for.another movie for later? I don't know mayb I'm over thinking it. Haha
I don’t think she died. I think she encased herself. But there was a flash of her chaos magic before the tower completely collapsed.
@@Illyria1217 it was her magic leaving her dead body
I think Marvel may be slowly setting up for the eventual introduction of Magneto & Chthon in the MCU, since Wong name dropped Chthon in the movie and since the Magneto actor, Ian McKellen, tweeted how he'd like to play Elizabeth's dad (Magneto was pretty much Scarlet Witch's dad in the comics).
She’s definitely not dead
She may not be dead... there was a bolt of her chaos magic right before the screen faded to black, it was fast so if you blinked you would miss it. I think the writers just fave us a clue that she somehow teleported out
Wasn't crazy about the first movie and Doctor Strange has been one of my favorite characters since the late 70's. Hopefully I'll enjoy this one. I also wish they would have shown his mystic energies more like they were drawn early on in the comic books. Not the same old orange circles with geometric shapes. We also need incantations. Oh well. Just me, I'm old-school. Lol
As messy as the story can be, or how disappointing the final showdown is in terms of action, Wanda is a well written, well acted character.
We all know SW is heading that way thanks to her comics origin, but they did it too soon and in a way where it is difficult to redeem her. Sam Raimi thought it would be fun to make her go full baddie, even if it means throwing away her character growth from WandaVision. And the whole "corrupted by Darkhold" is a lazy copout. I enjoyed it especially since Olsen was amazing, but I wish they didnt do it right after WandaVision. Or maybe she was possessed by Nightmare or something instead.
Really spent 4 minutes to explain this little detail that took seconds when I saw it before
I don't think she's evil, she's just went through her "awakening" if we can call it that, becoming who she was meant to be. But she's still an avenger, she's still a character that is said to be a good guy with some drawbacks... Not every hero can be perfect!!!!
You could say there's similarities to Angelina Jolie in Maleficent. She was good and when betrayed wanted vengeance and came across evil and dark but she still showed her maternal/good side. Loved those movies.
I’m just glad that she had a redemption arc at the very end where she destroyed the dark cold temple thrown thingy
She like Thanos in IW made you really feel for them... upon the most lovable/rootable and understandable villains in MCU history.
Where is it from the comic book illustration shown in this video, and is this worth reading, or not so much?
I'm just upset that we didn't get any more of RALPH BOHNER
even tho the boys were Not her kids shes still loves em really good
Wanda went full tyrant as a villain in Dr Strange 2 it was frightening.
When method acting happens accidentally

"The character she [Elizabeth] thought she knew"
Who she really know at all because her character was written in a completely different place then from where she was at the end of Wandavision. Yes, she was looking for her sons and would do anything to achieve that goal, but her experiences in Westview taught Wanda that what she did and how she hurt other people was wrong. So for her to come back and completely annihalate Kamar Taj seems like such a wild card. Yes, it could be argued that it's the influence of the Darkhold, but hinting at it better could save the audience a lot of confusion how Wanda went from morally redeemable character to mass murderer.
she's not a villain!!! she just wants to go to a different universe where she still has her family. everyone else who're in her way are the villains.
You do realize by her doing that she's risking the annihilation of an entire Universe because of her selfishness.
I love her I really don’t even care if she kills everyone……don’t come for me pls

@@JitendraSingh-qd7jk ok🙂
That doesn't sound stronger than Scarlet Witch, considering she's been ordained with the ability to rewrite, rule or destroy the multiverse. I mean, without hesitation, Scarlet Witch easily destroyed all Darkholds in every universe & conjured up destructive monsters to hunt down America Chavez across countless universes.
@@xiamariansupreme72 well sure but if wanda dont get redeemed later down the phase line someone with the abality to create actual universes would be a big interest for wanda assuimg she doesnt discover what sex is
I wonder when we'll see Magneto actually claim Wanda and Peter as his children in a movie...
That's how Heth Ledger was method acting for The Joker.
Anyone who sees her as a villain should ask themself, what they would do if this happened to you. And you were forced to do, what she did. Unlimited Power. More Force than anybody could conquer. If you'll see a sliver of choice, how your coming life would look like - wouldn't you take the opportunity - and fight for it with all you powers? She's not a villain. She's a very powerful victim.
They should have named the movie Scarlet Witch and the multiverse of madness.
Its called Dr. Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness, because Dr. Strange is the 1 that has to correct/fix the multiversal madness that Scarlet Witch caused. They're basically each other's Ying & Yang in the movie.
@0:52 Eric Foremans mom easter egg.
That smack side. I see it clearly and then she scream at the boys. I know she feel terrible for doing that to them but alas the film or storyline is directed like that so...ya
You didn’t even show the scene????
wanda could have just warped reality again to bring her family back but this time in her orchard
But Wanda probably knows that won't be good for her sanity, cause she had to give up her hex family in Westview. She'd ultimately know that a hex family isn't real & won't last a lifetime. She wanted a real family, real kids that won't disappear from existence and that can exist in the real world, outside of her controlled hex space.
Professor! Professor Charles Xavier!
Omg. Of course shes made out to be a villain. Everything she has been through had made her a villain. Woman - trauma - bad things - villain. Almost every man in the mcu - trauma - bad things - hero.

But Wanda doesn't want another hex family, she wants a real family that can exist in the real world. A real family that won't disappear outside of a given space. She doesn't wanna have to control the space they're in.
She acted so well but rhe script did her dirty. If fans have to do hw then so should the writers and directors. Watching "key scenes" is not the same as watching a well writ story arc.

It's disturbing to know that Sam Raimi didn't even watch WandaVision... This explains the continuity issues and why Wanda sounds and feels so different. I definitely feel like Sam Raimi wasn't a good fit for the film and he should have done better.
There are no continuity issues
I think its writer's fault not Raimi's
@@rottengalaxy they (the writers I would assume) just neglected to show her transition/corruption through the darkhold on screen. She just goes from end of Wandavision, seemingly mostly at peace with her grief, to her next on screen shot as already full on evil villain. Just felt wrong to me

Not to mention some of the most specific exposure, like the book taking a toll on it's user, isn't given until we meet the final version of strange in the final act. Like, what was the point of Wanda saving Westview knowing she'd lose her family, and all her character development for that matter, if they were going to undo all of it in MoM? I get it, I just don't like the execution. There are many other writing issues that were odd like no vision, America's power just being "take-able" by any sorcerer like that's ever been with any other character besides Agatha, the unexplained destruction of every darkhold, America saving the day via PEP TALK, or why wanda even can't just recreate her children again with a corrected spell.
