All I’ve learned from Australian dash cams is that if I ever visit Australia, watch out for utes with service beds, anyone driving a Mercedes and all the Scooter Steve’s out there who look like it’s their first time on two wheels
And the Asians are like speed humps.
& all drivers wearing a lawn bowls hat, blue Falcons.
Wow more deleted comments. Was I wrong about the Asians ?
Mercedes used to be a rich persons substitute for working genitals, now its the bastion of the senile and the odd meth dealer
German cars are internationally recognised as incompetent. The scooter riders were doing a much better job than the German car drivers.
People don't realise they can ruin someone's life FOREVER by being a dickhead behind the wheel. My brother in law's 3 year old daughter became paralised because some 27 yo asshole decided it was a good idea to drive on the wrong side of the road while drunk! Please be more careful on the roads people. You are not only dealing with your own lives but also other innocent people's lives too.
It's not only the intoxicated, whatever the substance. The entitlement by too many on here that can all to readily end the same way is ridiculous.
And for the righteous DC'ers helping to enforce our road rules - you can be 100% right & still end up dead.
Sorry to hear that. Hope he got to spend some serious time behind bars.
Damn that's tragic.
I had my Ls in both NSW and the ACT. In the ACT you do a multi hour course over two days before you get your Ls where they spend most of the time reinforcing the potencial consequences of reckless driving. This included showing documentaries about people who had ruined their own lives and the lives of others, including killing friends, through their reckless driving. Those docos were hard to watch even for a desensitised 18 year old male which I was at the time. They have stayed in my mind till now a decade later.
ACT does this course in lieu of the 120 hours behind the wheel imposed in NSW and frankly I think it is a much better use of time. Most people fake a bunch of their hours in NSW anyways. Sitting someone down in a small group away from their mates and showing them the real tragedy and horror that can occur on the road is much more impactful.
@@goaway9977 While not being in any Emergency Response I have assisted police at accident sites over the decades, even to closing the Newell Highway on the northern outskirts of Dubbo in 1977 because of a "Fatal". I was 2nd on the scene. First on the scene was a former Highway Patrol Constable Chris C...... and he was busy stabilizing two pre teen girls he'd got out of the vehicle they were in. The father of one of the girls died later that day in Dubbo Base Hospital.
@@goaway9977 agreed. I honestly tried to get the 120 hours under my belt the honest way but I had no one in my life eligible to be my passenger (my father was taking care of my mother with Alzheimer's while also working) and I couldn't afford to pay $40 ph to someone for 120 hours.
What I ended up doing was driving by myself around the back streets of Wollongong without my Ls, hoping I wouldn't get nicked.
Never been in an accident with another vehicle but once spun out at the top of Macquarie Pass when it was extremely wet. It really woke me up because on that road there are B-doubles charging through all the time.
That, plus I watch this channel religiously. When I started watching this channel, soon after I decided not to renew my motorcycle learner's permit and always look left and right as the lights turn green.
Every now and then I get the urge to buy a new car-then I watch "Dash Cams" and the feeling fades....:-)
Agree
An older ute with front and rear bars to shrug off the more minor fender benders and Victoria grade pot holes is where its at :)

Just take the next exit! You don't have to swerve across multiple lanes of traffic. You see it like 3 times per compilation. Google maps will recalculate a route for it and no-one has to die
A bad driver never misses their exit.
No No No, its all about me & what I want. As Cartman says ' screw you guys', Im doing my own thing. Which is detrimental to ALL other road users. Logic & common sense are now a lost art.
I was in a box truck as a passenger once going down the freeway near Geelong. We were in the far right lane and I realized from the muted Tom Tom (this was in '09) that we were about to miss our exit. As I realized the driver was sketchy (I only just started working there), I just thought "better let it go, it will quietly recalculate after we miss the exit and nobody will know".
Then my idiot PhD American middle passenger yelled "YOU'RE GOING TO MISS THE EXIT". Well, this Tourette's/Asperger's driver cut across three lanes without even looking and a B-Double doing 100 k narrowly missed us.
After that, I decided I would rather be fired than put up with sketchy breaking of safety.
I must admit - I did once on a new arterial motorway - typical country bloke lost in the "big smoke". I thought I had plenty of time to get across to my exit in front of a B-double, but I forgot that I had the 'van on. Oops! Luckily he was on top of his game or it could've ended badly.
Agreed, if i miss a turn i accept the mistake and take the next turn or safe route next.
2:40, you are an awesome human being, I hope those little duckies grow up big and strong thanks to you.
I get that a lot where I live. Always on the lookout for the ducks 🦆 & slowing down while looking behind me to make sure no one is going too fast!

18:41 IF YOU PUSH THE BUTTON MALAKA
yeah, that video was cut 2 seconds too short, lol
There should be a $50,000 cash bonus to any driver who plows through, with extreme prejudice, all drivers taking control of an intersection to do donuts. That'll end that problem rather quickly!
9:59 - I was going to say something about removing the protective film from the camera lens, but it appears the driver also forgot to remove the protective film from her own eyeballs!
10:42 - Damn, that song is a blast from the past...
I had been thinking that they'd mounted the camera high behind the tinted portion of the windscreen, but yeah, if you can't see the kerb ahead of you, you'd probably not notice the protective film on the lens either. 🤣
Watching that car doing donuts, my first thought was: that looks exactly like the start of the January 2017 Melbourne car attack, where some dropkick was doing donuts at Flinders and Swanston before he drove up to Bourke St Mall and killed and injured a bunch of people (6 and 27 respectively).
I was at work a couple of blocks away, kinda halfway between the donuts and the murders - not in any danger myself, but jeez it made an impression. Any situation like this now, I assume the driver wants to kill people.
i think if someone's doing donuts in an intersection and they get hit by someone with the green light and right of way, they (the donut maker) is automatically at fault and their insurance covers everything (or they personally do if their insurance decides to 'nope' because they did dumb shit)
@@foxtrot2134 that does seem likely, yeah. Just got to be prepared for that driver to be violent and possibly homicidal.
9:59 - seems like she was the passenger, that's the kind of reaction I'd expect from one. You can hear a sigh a couple seconds later, most likely coming from the driver.
So many drivers allergic to pushing the brake pedal when something is happening up ahead, they'd much rather be on the wrong side of the road at speed... baffling.
You dont always realise the other driver is going to stop half way in your lane like a twat.
So true, and they seem quite capable of pushing the button on the dash cam!
There are situations where a quick swerve is a better choice than the brakes. But in general yes, Australians are terrible at avoiding accidents when they think they’re in the right.
It's to do with thinking that you have "the right of way" when no such thing exists.

The fire and rescue response was so quick they even arrived before anyone made a call!😂
That was me on the bike, the Fire Brigade were passing through the next intersection up the road and saw what happened, Ambulance was there about a minute later in response to a collision on the same intersection five minutes earlier. No broken bones just bruises and a ride in the ambulance to get checked out at Hospital. Cheers.
Makes sense. That video *is* from the future.
@@gregedwards1087 Grateful that you got through it. The guy turning should have given way to you.
@@gcc4305, Thanks, Yes they should have given way, only doing 45 kmh according to my dashcam footage, I always take it easy in suburbia and just about everywhere else as it goes, the bike is a write off unfortunately 🤕 and at 62 that was the first forward somersault that I had done in about 40 years, don't want to do that again, still have the bruises.

Why would he slow down unless he was going to turn in and give the idiots boss a mouthful?

@@Aerhgad1 oh yeah, "thee shall not halt or hinder one travelling at the speed limit no matter what" lol - where is that rule written -- he had all the time in the world to SHARE THE ROAD, and so he should. Pathetic this sense of entitlement... "it's not on him to give way" lol
Yep! Trucks have a hard enough time trying to move across like that, have some courtesy and just slow down a bit and let him go through safely. It takes 3 seconds out of your route and you save that guy potentially minutes of waiting for the next clear gap.
10:43 A round a bout that I approach with the utmost caution.Keilor, Lincoln, Mt Alexander Road Essendon, the site of death & injury.
19:20 who wants to tell him that all those road markings meant he was supposed to give way (that's not to say the other guy couldn't have backed off)?
So many preventable incidents because of the stupid levels of merges we have. Should be a single type. Then again some situational awareness would help in a lot of these incidents too.
@@samh3157I thought there were only two, like this one, where you have to give way to cars in the lane you are changing to, and the zipper/form one lane, where you give way to the vehicle that is in front, and you aren't crossing dashed lines?
@@samh3157
I agree... The painted ones. It's simple then - if you cross the lines, you give way like any other time.
Yes you are right, but people do not know the rules in different merge situations. Dashcam owner's lane is ending, and he has to cross the dashed lines. That means he had to give way. Does not matter which car is in front or trailing - that only applies if there are no markings on the road. Called the other guy a f'ing idiot, but he was the f'ing idiot who - like many - don't know what the merging rules are. When there are markings like that, it means give way if you have to merge across them. Same rule applies when merging onto a freeway, if you have to cross the dashed lines you must give way. So annoying when people fail to do that.
Yup. He's gonna have an interesting call with his insurance with that one
19:55 at least the ute running from the police was trying to give plenty of warning. 😂
Not a ute, but yeah. When an unmarked cop car appeared next, I wondered if it was a cop's personal car attending the same call... But then when it goes past, there's no plate on the rear, and it's a bit wobbly moving lanes like an idiot is driving.
The best type of criminal, very courteous 😂😂
Nice to still see a ZB still on the beat.
@@tin2001 It would be fucking ludicrous to have such a car in the lead, if that is even a thing they are allowed to do

Another "What the F***" when brain could have been used.
It's bizarre how many of these dashcam owners see something clearly going pear-shaped in front of them.
But instead of braking, they speed up a little and brake at the absolute last moment - because making an incident more dramatic makes for good footage.
do they really do that, or are you just making up a narrative to excuse your own bad behavior?
9:59 the blue film appears to be on the driver's eyes as well as the dashcam 🤦♂️Please remove both before driving.
11:07 Organs went to numerous recipients. Thank you Todd! 17:44 You too, Jules!
Clearly no brain to donate 😂

When I got my e-scooter I made sure to take my organs off the donor registry. I don't want my organs going to a smug road hogging car driver when I inevitably die in the near future.
It would be a small funeral.
9:59 Should have gone to Specsavers...😆
19:46 What was the problem? Not that hard for a smaller vehicle to back off a bit to allow the truck to get off the road . Typical driving of big 4x4 with duckin' aerials .
yep, he had plenty of time so slow down
@@stediasse And the truck probably could have waited, he did not have right of way ... obviously.
The point is you can be as pissed as you like while still backing off a bit so you don’t end up nearly colliding. Almost like someone wanted the footage to upload.
Yes the DC was being a bit impatient however there was no break in the double lines so the truck was turning into the driveway illegally as well.
@@benchapman5247 It's legal to cross double lines when entering / exiting a property, if that is the only practicable option. Not legal to do it when failing to give way to oncoming traffic, obviously. Can't really tell what the visibility, time and distance was from the truck driver's perspective, but he knows he is in a big long vehicle so should factor that in before starting the turn.
6:25 - one of the worlds great paradoxes.

But...but....do not overtake turning vehicle!!!
@@traj7196 and heavy vehicle should use all the room available to not unnecessarily cut the corner
thinks hes in a triple road train, drives like a car driver
and look how much road he had to the left of him
Yes that bugs me. There's a few local corners where 99% of buses make it no issue, but now and again one cruises up on your outside (whilst stationary at the lights) and cuts across with their *front*. Not sure where you'd stand legally as you don't know if they are going to come across and certainly can't see the 'do not overtake' signs on the back (given they arrived after)
5:33 what the absolute! We can hear the siren and that suv still goes thru the intersection turning right and takes out the motorbike; seems like they should have heard it before entering the intersection… but perhaps they didn’t and panicked.. but the Ute in front of the can car weaving around the car stopped at the green light yielding to the lights & sirens, then even after the accident the just drive around that in front of the fire truck
1:31 the little blue car was the bravest of all 😉
I was scrolling down to see if anyone commented on this. Whyyyy didn't they just steer over to the left and carry on?? Unreal
14:43 the blue car was signalling left and looked like they were going to exit
There’s a servo mid round about. Because 5 ways wasn’t complicated enough!
Lots of nice sunsets
19:20 Sorry, but without rear dashcam to see what the BMW did, it just looks like DC car is at fault for not giving way. Doesn't matter if DC car was in front of BMW for this type of merge.
Yeah. It's a 50:50 to me without seeing the back. The speed suggests it's possible they tried to race past after the merge was started. He doesn't comment until he's halfway across, and the other car is going way faster.
But it's equally possible the other car was already too close when he started the merge.
The cammer was crossing a broken white line. He is required to yield to vehicles already in the other lane, no matter what that vehicle is doing. Because there are no ifs, buts or maybes in the Australian Road Rules, that puts him 100% at fault under the law, but insurance may try to push some of the blame onto the other driver for not avoiding the collision.
15:57 L-plater learns a valuable lesson with little cost above a little embarrassment. That could have been a hell of a lot worse.
I'm still trying to figure out why he didn't stop. It looks like he's looking forward (although I'm only watching this on a phone, so I may have missed something).
@@strikeleader5269 If you watch him, he looks over at the bike in the oncoming lanes just as the car hits the brakes. Turns back to look forward and it's just too late for his skill level. I put it down as a lesson to how quickly a lack of attention on a motorbike can go downhill very quickly, he actually did ok in the end. Didn't lay it down or end over it by grabbing too much front brake.
@@danielryan4050 I think my phone is just too small for me to see it

19:24 DC driver's lane is ending and he is attempting to merge. He sees a car beside him and says "Dude". At this point he continues to move to the right instead of holding the extreme left. Take a look. That was a deliberate crash.
Yes, dashcam vehicle is clearly at fault there. If crossing dashed lines to merge, you must give way. More people should learn what the merging rules are.
True true Stuart
Looking in his side mirror, he probably thought he initially had room. he didn’t expect the other car to speed past him to try to overtake, when he had started the lane merge. Then again, by the time he said ‘dude’ he should have taken evasive action to avoid the collision, when he saw it beside his car. If I was in the car behind, I would let him make the change whether he was in the right or wrong.
@@heredownunder you speak like he didnt know what was coming. I think he just wanted to be in front.. it would be handy if we could see what traffic is behind
@@heredownunder Yes, avoidable by both drivers, but bottom line is the dash cam vehicle / driver had time to react and avoid even after saying 'dude'. There was enough time and space, even at that point. Defensive driving and giving way to those at fault is usually better than dealing with insurance and repairs, but it's clear who was in the wrong here. I wonder what the results of a breath test would have been.
15:00 surely the Haval indicated wrong as had their left blinker on as they changed lane and continued around the round about. And unfortunately the Forester who pulled out coped the flack from the motorcycle DC.
Watch it again the haval had their right indicator on and then changed to the left indicator to indicate they were exiting left
pretty sure he thought the haval was going to exit before so hd tried to go then hes like oh sh¡t a white car so he stopped in the middle of the road so he didnt hit the white car
The law still requires you to give way to vehicles in the roundabout - even if they are indicating earlier than they should.
Actually the Haval had his right blinker on for the exit to the right and as it went past the straight though road it started to indicate off the roundabout. He used his indicator correctly. Even if not you have to giveway even if indicators are misused or nit used at all.

19:20: It would have been helpful to be able to see the traffic behind the DC driver here. While legally the DC driver is required to give way (since his lane ends with a dashed line), I wonder if the SUV vehicle deliberately accelerated to "claim their right of way" so to speak? If the SUV deliberately accelerated, then the SUV created an unsafe situation. 19:47 stay out of an industrial area if you do not want to give way / have courtesy for a truck.
Let's not even mention double white lines.. April fool!
Thank you for including the ducks crossing one... made my day
Good to see a Landcruiser get caught👍
8:10 I spent a few years working in the office building there at 423 Pennant Hills Road and would make a left turn out of this street on my way home every day.
This exact scenario probably happens every day. I dealt with people trying to turn right when I was turning left countless times.

That particular intersection in Nowra is one of the worst in that city. As a resident of that area I can confirm.
@@johnnichol9412 Someone ran a red light. Did you watch the video?
@@TwoRandomAuzzies He's asking why is that intersection worse than the others (why do more accidents happen there than elsewhere)
@@TwoRandomAuzziesActually, two people ran a red light. That light was amber well before the camera driver crossed the line, which makes it a red light for him as well.
This is what we have come to, Good luck I drive now.
Those scooters are a menace...something needs to b done about them urgently b4 someone is killed.
you didnt see any of the dumb car drivers?
@@bryandavisent5621 That you on the scooter Bryan? Would explain why you're commenting on all the posts related to the idiots on scooters
@@creamygoodness42 I know right 😂
Yes I did c those stupid drivers...but the scooter really upset me as it could lead to such dire consequences if an accident was to occur.
I think you will find that there have been many, many serious injuries and fatalities due to e-scooters.

"Mercedes, O Mercedes."
Ernest Hemingway, *Death in the Afternoon*
Remember the 3 prong motto. "I drive Mercedes, I make the rules, out of my way you other fools."
@@QueRulous-zd8rv That would be the origin of the three-pointed star :)
2:00 without the leadup it could be an honest mistake. You can encroach into an intersection on green, given the number of people these days running late Reds, it is possible they just got trapped, with people already coming across.
@@neilgerace355 Indeed, you are correct.
10:00 I'd like people's opinion - which is worse, the video quality or the driving ability?
Try watching Arkansas State Police dash cams. The PIT often offenders at 100 - 150 mph.
