Сколько изящества и простоты ! Сколько задушевных и бодрящих гармоний. Потому и сердце наполнено Теплотой !!! How much grace and simplicity ! How much sincerity and invigorating harmonies ! Because of it the heart is filled with Warmth ! I listen and listen again and again ! Wie viel Anmut und Einfachheit! Wie viel Aufrichtigkeit und belebenden Harmonien ! Erstaunlich ! Darum ist Herz mit Wärme erfüllt !!! Teper Michael.
Vanhal was a bohemian composer; who (as many of his compatriots) had to leave his country to find musical resources. Thgis is the strange story of the Bohemian music in the second part of the XVIII° Century: the country in itself was indeed one of the major musical focuses of Europe, but most composers wrere scattered in Italy, Austria or Germany. Vanhal lived mainly in Italy and Austrria, and was one of the first compoosers to earn his life independently from a court or a protector. He was greatly influenced by the so-called Mannheim school. In his musical compositions, we may note several symphonies in minor mode. He was fully aware of the dramatic affects which could be got from an orchestra in a minor key, somehow veling his time style, which is a step towards a new espressivity. This syphony is a good example.
You’re quite right that it is clear Vanhal was aware of Haydn and his work in the 1760’s and 1770’s; along with Mozart and Dittersdorf, Haydn and Vanhal made up the famous composers’ quartet reported by Michael Kelly in the mid-1780’s. In English, the adjective is correctly ‘Haydnesque’.
This great name is so underrated and barely played… Hopefully he’ll reach more attention with time
Vanhal--much an ..almost ...unsung hero. Much thanks for you( and people like you on RUclips,) giving the rest of us joy. Kind regards!
Classical music from the classical period. Peerless. Beautiful piece by Vanhal I first heard on Radio Suisse Classique. Thank you for posting.

Spirited music
Very enjoyable!
Вангал любимый композитор наравне с братьями Марчелло. Каждая его симфония прекрасна.
Haydnian ? It fits within his lines specially in the A-B-ABA- scheme. Thanks.
