@@imsonicnoob2112Therapist:Siren Head is not real. He can't hurt you! Siren Head is 40 feet tall but here in my country, we use the imperial system so 40 feet is 12 meters.
Ngl there was a slight uncomfortable feeling in my chest but I was mostly very amazed in a very positive way. This music was so addictive and exciting combined with these pictures.
Here’s all the buildings I know 0:26 Ryugyong Hotel 0:31 US WTC 0:56 The Kelpies 1:19 African Renaissance Monument 1:30 Christ the Redeemer 1:45 Golden Gate Bridge (with a moon) 1:59 Statue of Unity 2:10 Monument to the Conquers of Space
Something I always found creepy is when you’re in a car and your driving past a huge monument (aka kelpies, angel of the north etc) and your driving past it watching it get smaller and smaller, whilst still being massive compared to you Anyone else get that feeling?
Some of them have a bit of a liminal feel. That last one with the huge guy sitting and staring at you was the only one that genuinely terrified me. Wow. great video!
It's funny 'cause I'm Brazilian and the thumbnail of the video made my heart go crazy. When traveling to Rio, where we have Christ the Redeemer's Statue, you can see the statue from the airplane and this was so fucking scary to me, I didn't even visit the place. It's like going to Paris and not visiting the Eifell Tower.
Does the object have to represent a person or an animal to trigger this fear? For example, would you also avoid the Eiffel Tower? I try to understand this fear because I am not sure if I have it. After intensively playing Elite Dangerous for 1 year (very realistic space simulation where the gigantic is omnipresent) I developed a phobia of this game, but no fear of astronomy (photos, documentaries). I have also often had nightmares where I see jumbo jets crashing, often on me. And yet, I have been working on such aircraft for 20 years.
I getcha. It reminds me of rainforest art used in old science textbooks and some children's novels. It's very whimsical looking in comparison to the rest of the pictures.
I can listen to horror stories all day and not be shaken. Disturbed, but not shaken. But with some of these images, they actually cause my heart to flutter with fear. I realized i do have megalaphobia
The Christ the Redeemer statue is considerably small. The image evokes much more the fear of heights rather than Megalophobia; especially considering it stands in the top of a mount.
Is Megalophilia a thing? I swear these images make me feel the opposite of fear, i just wanna be there and look at it for hours while listening to my playlist and vibing
It must be a thing because i feel the same way as you. These images are just cool to me like i could stare at those things for hours in fascination. The images with living creatures or monsters are most fascinating ones.
I feel the exact same! I literally searched up “what’s the opposite of a phobia” on google after seeing this because all these images fill me with some strange wonder I can’t describe.
The organ music at the beginning is absolutely perfect because it reminds me of the villain Forte from the Beauty & the Beast Christmas movie (voiced by Tim Curry). He terrified me as a kid, not only because of his uncanny 3D-ness in a 2D movie, but because of his sheer mass.
I'm trying to make an art project based on the feeling these kinds of pictures give you. For most I wouldn't exactly describe it as scary- more awe-striking and a bit terrifying, but that's the whole thing. It's hard to describe. This is exactly what I'm looking for. Where'd you find these?
Hey, good luck with the project. Look on pinterest and reddit, just search “ megalophobia “. There might be other places to find megalophobic images but pinterest and reddit are the better ones for us.
I alsohave megalophobia, but the object has to be very large (like a cruise ship). I visited NYC once, and the buildings weren't even big enough to scare me. However, once I was close to wind mills and then a very large t.v. antenna - both were unsettling to me....
Unreal images don’t bother me oddly. The real deal bothers me tremendously. For example the pic at 0:06 of the two large hands coming g out of the water….what is absolutely terrifying is thinking about how it looks UNDER the water. I imagine a colossal statue the size of the Statue of Liberty. That’s freaking terrifying! But the gigantic rubber duck doesn’t frighten me at all.
The worst thing that could ever happened is Giants might exist
