Thanks for this comparison, made me realise that from now on I’ll have to switch brands after staying with Samsung s series for years…. What a shame :/ s8 to s10 were honestly such nice designs too
Removing the headphone jack I don't mind as much because I use wireless headphones these days anyway despite my phone still having a jack. But removing the SD card I agree is a foolish move. Therefore I might consider one of the A series phones for my next upgrade because I can still expand the storage using a card and not have to cough up more for greater internal storage.

One bad thing I've noticed on mine is wifi sometimes doesn't seem to work on my phone only, since it's a firmware issue. I just use 4G for about 5-10 mins then wifi is fine again for a while. Battery life could be better, around 3-4 hours constant and very heavy usage, 7-10 hours medium usage, and over a day with little usage. The phone while holding it feels perfect for me too. I have S9 since avgust,2019. One Ui 2.5. Battery is poor. It's software problem because I changed it. Last for less than 2 hours. Screen is also working badly. Its starting to flick if I put light to medium. Low and hight is okay. But Camera is really great. When I bought the S9 I was choosing between S9 and S10e. Really liked that S9(S8) design so I decided with S9. S10e is smaller (like small phones) and now have one Ui 4, but I choose S9. From other designs I like s22 series because of the simetrical bezels and I liked S10 series cameras. I also like curved display. I will wait for few years so they can upgrade camera to be under the glass.
Im currently using a samsung s9 with a custom android 12 rom, still going strong and with gcam everything becomes just great. Only downside i wish its battery life was longer, i can only get 4-5 hours on a heavy use.

I have an S10+. I was watching this video to see what's out there upgrade wise, and i don't see a need to move off yet. the S10+ is the best phone i've had in a while, and I still love it. The idea of going through the hassle of switching phones doesn't even seem worth it right now, and i'm at 2 years on the 10+. It's just as fast and responsive as ever.
I had a regular s10 which broke, so I was obligated to change it. Got the S22, which I absolutely love and even wanted to get, but having had those two during this month I can confidently tell you if you get an S10 for a great price and with a new battery, it should last you for years. Had mine for 3 years and it never felt slow. The difference between the S10 to the S22 is really not that great
@@greenfalcon1568 The camera is much better, I noticed it is a bit slower on each shot because of the processing, but the quality is notisable. Betery life on the other hand is worse, im not a heavy user but it wont last a full day without being mindfull of your use
Basically when you look at them side by side you realize how insane it is to pay for new phone EVERY year. Maybe new model in every 2-3 years makes more sense. For example, differences between S10 and S22 are ridicilous. If you really think what is actually making difference, it is getting different kind of phone like Fold or Flip serie model.
Samsung should have at least upped the PPI on the S22 Plus to further justify a 200 dollar price difference with the S22. The S20 has a Amoled display with 563 PPI. The only time you get that type of quality in the S22 series is the S22 Ultra, which is an oversized phone for an average consumer.
That's what I'm saying. I got the S22 Ultra because I wanted that WQHD+ resolution and the S22 and S22+ don't have it. Kinda dick move from Samsung. Either way, can't wait until my S22 Ultra hopefully arrives tomorrow.
I had my S9 for over 3 years and its honestly great. Only recently I've upgraded to the s22. I'm upset with the removal of the aux as well as the micro SD slot. The removal of the SD slot was the dumbest thing samsung has ever done.
I had to s20 plus, loved the phone, amazing display and great all around. I recently got the s22 ultra. The main reason I upgraded was I cracked the camera and screen. But the s22 ultra is an amazing phone. The s pen brings so much functionality and everything about it is fantastic
I got the S10+ brand new on launch day (after having every single Samsung phone since the original galaxy S). I loved the S10+ so much I kept it for 4 years! Only just recently got rid of it for S23 Ultra which I am loving but the S10+ was fantastic I don't think any other Samsung phone has "hit" like that and just been so good in every way. And then also still managing to stay excellent for nearly half a decade! Well done Samsung it really was fantastic, I'm hoping the S23 Ultra will serve me just as well 👌
I go from s10+ to s23. I don't like the designs of s20-22 at all. The battery life of s22 is not good also and I returned it actually. Now I like a small phone and s23 seems to be perfect for me.
Watching this on my s8 that I've had for almost 5 years. I'm considering upgrading to either s20 or s22. I LOVE the camera on the s22 but I'm bummed it doesn't have the headphone jack or sd card option.
Using an s9 and imo I'd rather deal with the bezels than have a hole punch, the screen is amazing but the battery is probably the s9's biggest weakness
hello any chance you will make the same test with the Plus versions? I'm really curios to see how my S10+ holds against the s22+ which I want to purchase
From the s3 to the s9 I upgraded yearly with a couple excursions to the note series. Since then I've held onto my s9, but every few months I consider upgrading to the s22, but the reality is that it still doesn't make much sense. There are a few new things of course but I still can't bring myself to drop 800 to 1300 depending on if I find a used example or had to go new.
I have S10 now for 3 years and I am thinking about going to 22+. Do you think it is worth the change? Keep in mind that with all the preorder bonuses, it will cost me about 400-500€. My S10 has no problem, only the battery is at about 2500mah (from original 3400mah) after 3 years and barely lasting full day (I have wireless charger in work, so not a big deal during a normal day). What would you guys say?
The Galaxy S8 is an old smartphone I think. I recommand to change this phone, then I'm not forcing you. But the problem of this phone : 1. The fingerprint sensor is badly placed, I explain: it is located to the right of the camera which means that we will constantly leave fingerprints on the camera and results, we end up taking failed photos because of that. 2. The AndroidOS is Android 9 and in 2022, we're on Android 12 and it require an S10. It's a shame to miss a lot of news. 3. This phone is so brittle. You drop it once, the back will be completely broken, and the worst part is the expensive repair.
@@boulognevinguyen315 i disagree, i accidentally ran over my s8, i have dropped it so many time in a span of 3 years. The screen is cracked but still working perfectly. The only thing protecting it this whole time is a 14$ case from amazon.
I consider upgrade from s9 to s10+. For 200s used. Important things for me is mostly the screen + battery. I dont really care so much about camera. So the 5.8inch to 6.4 wil be great addition. Also AUX is nice since i use it in my car. Ofc you can buy adapter for the newer phones, but its just one thing less to think about. Might also go for s20 fe if i find it around 200s, because rest of phones sells 350+ used
I will buy the Galaxy S10 because the os of this phone is One UI 4.0 (the latest version of this phone which is not avaiable on the S8 and S9). The galaxy S8 is on One UI 1.0 and the S9 : One UI 2.5
I ended up upgrading from an S9 to an S20 FE and I don't regret it at all. The upgrade is significant enough to appreciate the new features and the speed without the cost of a more expensive S21 or S22. Ended up costing me 450€ brand new from Samsung's website thanks to a discount.

I went from an S9 to an S20FE and finally to an S22 plus. Even though I miss the headphone jack and microSD card, I can’t deny how beautiful and refined this phone is. It feels like an iPhone in the hand but running Android inside. Plan to hold on to this phone for as long as Samsung supports it.
I'm looking to upgrade my s9 as well for better performance in games, 120hz, bigger screen and better battery life because my s9 has started getting bad and needing charged multiple times a day. I'm between the s21 FE and the S21+ because they're bigger and within my budget, 22 series is too expensive for the bigger models.
I think S22 still ranks up , although it omits the micro SD card and headphone jack, but they gave replacement. When you have up to 512GB, 1TB storage in your phone, of course you no longer need SD card slot or even headphone cause you can connect wireless to earbuds. S22 supersedes besides it's 5G and better software, display , processor, etç
The future galaxy flagship phones starting with the S23 is gonna have the same camera model with the S22 but with more optimisation just like the iphones with that unique camera model ✌️
I think the square-boxy chasis since s22 series is the most horrible downgrade. The feeling in the hand is not natural, is like holding a non ergonomic shape object not following the galaxy bloodline of the past. I mean, S7 Edge.. wow... S8 till S20 were outstanding design and a really premium feeling in the hand. If they return to natural ergonomics... mixed with snapdragon chips, they would nail it!

@@cobaltblue5523 go for S22 without a doubt. The cameras wont disappoint. They are great. Oversall i would say S22 is an 9/10. A great phone
I didn’t realise they took out the sd slots and headphone jack. Those are both factors in staying with Samsung compared to apple to me, i don’t get why they’d get rid of sd slot tbh.
If you have 512GB storage, I don't see the need for SD card

I love both.
Things got really crazy in the late 2010's. Bezelless displays, triple camera setup, punch hole cameras, notch cameras, teardrop cameras, pop-up cameras, high refresh rates, 2k to 4k screens, so many changes were taking place! Now we've kind of plateaued with new features in phones.
That’s why iPhone dominates. Hardware plateaued
Software hasn’t

The s8 , s9 and s10 design were so beautiful and premium looking. I personally find the S20 and up way uglier. If only Samsung would bring back that design, I'd buy in a heartbeat
Ew what the fuck s10 s9 s8 looks trash compared to s20
Yeah absolutely agree, I actually love the curved display, I think it gives the phone more character and makes it more interesting. Plus the bezels are actually smaller. The S20 reminds me of the A series too much and the S21 and S22 look kind of generic and boring.
S21 and s22 dont look ugly though I dunno whats happening to you but S8 and s9 design doesnt look soothing for me or any other people too, s20 Doesnt look trash, it just looks Like a mid range phone on the back but the quality is ok... just like telling a person to dont judge a person by its look, S20 and up Are more Capable and ...Design is useless when the Phone's specs are trash
I think the S22+ looks the best. It just looks and feel like the perfect size.
The funny thing is that the main big difference between these phones (atleast from the S10 to the S22) is the camera
I just bought the s10+ a couple days ago. Upgraded from the s8+, i love it.

@@blake6624 I've had no regret tbh. It's much smoother at 120 hz, much faster in terms of loading apps, sending files, etc. And the camera on it is wonderful as well.

Got the S22, which I absolutely love and even wanted to get, but having had those two during this month I can confidently tell you if you get an S10 for a great price and with a new battery, it should last you for years.

The Galaxy S8 is an old smartphone I think. I recommand to change this phone, then I'm not forcing you. But the problem of this phone :

When you have up to 512GB, 1TB storage in your phone, of course you no longer need SD card slot or even headphone cause you can connect wireless to earbuds. There is no reason to upgrade except for Android updates
Horsepower and battery life still not bad
I think the square-boxy chasis since s22 series is the most horrible downgrade. The feeling in the hand is not natural, is like holding a non ergonomic shape object not following the galaxy bloodline of the past. I mean, S7 Edge.. wow... S8 till S20 were outstanding design and a really premium feeling in the hand. If they return to natural ergonomics... mixed with snapdragon chips, they would nail it!
