Paul, you have the most amazing talent. I'm constantly impressed by the virtuosic brilliance of your performances and by the sheer disciplined economy of your hand movements. Just incredible.
His hand efficiently is legendary, see his bumblebee, it's literally one of the best recordings out there. Watching Paul has genuinely helped my technique, the trick is, you can't learn it from watching, you need to know what he is doing. Weight placement and rotations you can't see, it took so long for me to work this out, Dorothy Taubman showed me how to see this, thank you.
My coonhound has respiratory problems.. for whatever reason, I decided to put my headphones on her ears (lowering the volume to minimum of course) and started playing this video. I watched the video as she listened, and when the slower and lower notes were played, her breathing lowered also. When it gained tempo and higher chords she started breathing fast and heavy again. IMO, there is more to music and harmony than we can currently comprehend or appreciate.
Thanks for this upload and the Sonata project! I request uploads for the first three early sonatas that he wrote when he was 12. The unpublished ones. I think they are WoO 47. I would love to hear your interpretation! I really enjoy your videos on Beethoven's early works including sonata one and this sonata!
@Alejandro Rodriguez Agreed! I also enjoy the second sonata in the key of f minor. It seems like the beginnings of the his first published sonata and the appassionata!
A bientôt.
This is beautiful. I struggle with knowing which notes to omit. Beethoven is quite different from Mozart in that Mozart is very structured and methodical, while Beethoven tends to be less coordinated and a bit scattered in his composing, especially regarding the piano. Yet somehow, his music is breathtaking. He reminds us that breaking away from the expected structure of music just might give us what we need.

Well, I hit the like because he is doing an outstanding job, learning all those works then propose simultaneous reading and listening. He has a great repertoire and he is obviously very motivated. But this is not top playing, sorry. It is mechanic, not inspired and not colorful. It is good, correct playing, that's all. There is so much going beyond the notes that is entirely missing here. Now, should we only comment when we think is 100% positive, or also give opinions more controversial? I think both should be done, now Paul will decide if mine stays or not.
must be them small phones. you have to like Beethoven to like this which i do. i cannot see any other reason no matter what other music critics think. this video wasn't meant for a piano lesson from Julliard school of music or Eastman etc. this is for us classical music lovers that want to learn how to play piano and cannot afford private lessons. not everyone can play like Artur Schnabel, Anna Fedorova, or Vladimir Horowitz. Thanks for Posting Paul Barton. this is worth a subscribe. ps you can tell who are some of my favorite pianist
I like watching you play, is there anyone else you would recommend me that plays piano music with the score written and a video playing - like yours.. I like reading the score while someone plays it..
Im learning this piece, and when I listen to other interpretations (like this one) I dont understand why they play the first movement that fast. I mean, it is fast, its allegro. But that should be around 130 to 150 bpm right? And every recording I've been listening to, play it at 180-190 (including this one, of Paul). Why is that? Sorry for my english
It doesn’t matter about the page length . Its about 5 minutes long. Im learning another beethoven song thats 4 pages and nearly 9 minutes. I believe you can do it. And a lot of it is repetitive so go at it man and spend some good time on it to memorize👊!
Вторую часть слушать не возможно, Где легато? Пустой звук не наполненный. Вообщем быстро это не есть хорошо На Бетховена эта музыка мало похожа . Удачи

Yep, he is so very actually totally extremely horrendously weirdly happily truly
Correct
Barton is a fantastic musician, he knows what he wants and how to deliver it, super nice.
He really captures the starkness of the Adagio, which is my favorite movement of this piece. It was hypnotic.
Incredible! I really want to learn this now, it looks fun.
Later this won’t be fun believe me🤦🏻♂️
@@Topi- yeah :D playing it for few months now
GeTuKo LoPe me too
@@Topi- The sonata is hard to sound good when you play it, it's actually really hard to make it sound like what the pro's are doing
Overall the sonata isnt toooo hard... its a fun and doable piece. But ofc it isnt easy either. Making a Beet sonata sound good is the hard part
Paul your hands look so simple and easy, and yet the sounds that come out are enchanting.
Always click Like before watching... and I never regret!!! Such a great Artist and human being.
What a beautiful sonata and fantastic execution. Love it
So Kool when you hear a Beeth piece for the very first time, like hearing a miracle!

Why is it that this early on into Beethoven’s life, and I can already hear his iconic “pathetic” peace in there?
@danky - - want to compare s. 5, op. 13 ???
Watch "Beethoven Sonata No.8 “Pathétique” (Score) Paul Barton, FEURICH piano" on RUclips
ruclips.net/video/vjzykep5VPw/видео.html
danky yes, “comes close to matching the Pathetique for dramatic power (rhetorical silences, material presented in unison, dynamic contrasts)”
That's because they are both in C minor

This Sonata is one of my favourites.
And you nailed it 👌
Favorite, you mean
Joshua Chen piano ... English spelling...😚😊as found in the Oxford dictionary...😂
Thanks so much Paul, I was already learning this sonata and was looking for an interpretation to model after, and I think I've found the one!
Amazing Paul!! Thank you so much!!!
I love that one arpeggio so much, it sounds so good
So beautifully played
Wow, by far the best interpretation ever of the Beethoven 5th Piano Sonata, even better than Barenboim's or Buchbinder's. Incredible Barton!
Amazing work sir, as usual!

thank you
Amazing interpretation! You are is 4th B of Music! Bach, Beethoven, Brahms and Barton! Bravo! 👏👏👏👏
Hello Paul! How do I have more precision when you played, in the long jumps ? And when he played faster? How to improve accuracy

Stanislav Stanchev is A1
There's a channel called Pianifico as well. I love watching the scores with the music, too - very relaxing. ❤️
Merci!

far easier than youd think, i have it to relative proficiency right now (tempo slightly slower tho) and it took a couple weeks tops

Эта соната вообще мало похожа на Бетховена. Наверно, написана по молодости, когда он ещё не стал тем самым Бетховеном, которого мы знаем.
Third movement sounds very spanish to me.

It sounds sped up for some reason lol, good perfomance anyway.
Stupid fast tempo - the music needs to breathe. It is not marked Prestissimo.
