Not completely true… The difference in the tie-breaker round was just 0.1 point and it seemed unjust and biased against Aishwarya, because she was already subjected to a lot of pressure and expectations due to her successful modelling status then… It’s just conspiracy theory that she was given easy question, while Sushmita was given tough one… Aishwarya worked hard and had to fight for the pageant title as much as others (if not more), don’t undermine her struggles just to elevate others…

Depending on whether this was pre or post South African independence, I wonder whether the choice to focus on Sun City as the location rather than South Africa was a deliberate choice. I remember watching this on VHS as a kid in Zambia, completely clueless about the politics that must have been attached to the event. Aishwarya's still gorgeous.
