Loved this!! I totally relate to the nerve racking feeling of “do I remember how to do this” before the first day! Definitely feeling that this year, especially after being out on maternity leave for a while. But I know after the first day of school all those jitters will go away!
Yay! Love these types of vlogs! We always had crazy fire alarms before school started too lol! Love the green top :) Duties and copies are my least favorite teacher chores.
As I watch your videos I do feel like you are a friend. Things I love to see are how you make lists and think ahead to things you think you might need. I really want to work on my lists to stay organized.
Going to conferences and out of county professional development is so important for your growth as a teacher. Seeing new ideas and techniques, trying them out is so important.
Im in college for elementary education in north carolina. In one month I get to have my first experience going to a elementary school and helping out. IM SO EXCITED!!!
I love your energy. I moved overseas to Turkey 🇹🇷 7 years ago. I started teaching ESL in person and online. I started exclusively teaching privately a few years ago- not on a platform. Lesson planning can be very time-consuming because I teach various ages/ levels. I am trying to get better with my work/ life balance. I read Because of Winne Dixie with a student after you mentioned it in one of your videos. She loved it. I can't wait to see your lessons/ activities this year. I enjoy book recommendations for students and PD for teachers. Have a great start to the year!
Love your spinning the wheel reward. I think that makes sense for the upper elementary grades. And I loved hearing about the conference you went to. I wish I had know about it. My parents live in FL do I could have stayed there.
I didn't enjoy the mailbox sorting thing either. I got rid of my mailboxes at like year 3 of my 26 year career. I started using "take home" folders that go back and forth everyday. When I pass out fliers or corrected work, the kiddos put them right into their folders that they keep in their desks. They come in and part of their morning routine is to put their folder into their desk and at the end of the day, they put it in their backpack. If they forget their folder, then it goes into their backpack. It works for me and NO storing of work or sorting required. 🙂
I love the Q&A! You answered my question. I love professional development so much. I hope you have a great year. I would love to see some writing processes you talked about from the conference and/or how you teach writing.
Yay 🎉 a midweek surprise video. Wishing you a wonderful brand new school Year filled with joy, fun times , eager to learn students, great staff and beautiful days ahead. Any vlog is a good vlog for me. Not a teacher here but sure do enjoy keeping up with your cozy comfy life ❤. God bless you. 😊
Thanks for answering my questions and many others 😊. I look forward to seeing if your able to share read alouds along with an activity connecter with the book 📚.
I can totally relate with you worrying about whether or not you can still teach. I actually took 4 years off from teaching and was admin and ended up subbing sometimes as an admin. And when I decided to go back into teaching that was a big anxiety that I had was worrying that I forgot how to teach. But I did learn that teaching is like riding a bike we never lose that skill even if we take time off
So fun! That imposter syndrome is real, isn't it? Do you ever get back-to-school nightmares? Those are awful but also sometimes hilariously unrealistic! Still get those after 25 years of teaching! Also can't sleep the night before so day 1 is soooo exhausting! 😂
When I was younger in the third grade I acted up in my special education class and I did get sent to the principal office and I was paddled in the late 1970s.😊.

Hello! I look forward to seeing every video. Our district adopted the reading program that you use. Looking it over, it is very dry… does it get more engaging as the year goes on? I am worried my first graders will not LOVE reading and not be engaged. HELP!
I'm just an 8th grader but I LOVE these 😂😂😂 I kind of want to be a teacher one day too :)

The green top your wearing in this video is really nice colour it suits you, I was going to be a teacher but I don’t have the confidence yet
I've used talking chips at the high school level. Works great!
Can you show how you organize student data?

Probably a test of the alarm if the office staff are there for the first day
