While it doesn’t reach the heights of my fave game in the series, Three Houses, I’m still enjoying the time I’m having with Engage so far. The Emblem rings caused me to experiment with different pairings. And although the story feels formulaic, it’s still an enjoyable one. Plus having the weapon triangle back is not bad either.
Yeah Engage is still really solid! The emblem idea is neat but I do wish I got to bond with the spirits a bit better. Overally not the best FE game but a solid strategy game :)
@@Luisgvn personally I enjoy engage a lot more than 3 houses but I wouldn’t rate it higher than the game. Personally I don’t find 3 houses writing as great as people make it out to be it’s entertaining and perhaps one of the best FE stories. The main problem is the replay value. 3 houses is very tedious with the social sim aspects Also the story has some writing issues inconsistentcies with a few characters, execution and an unfinished route . The game play was also a detriment to its replay value as wsll
@@Luisgvn it’s pretty good so far and emblems are somehow less broken than some of 3 houses gambits (mainly goddess dance) which is weird. Some maps I think could be done better as. Well.
Sounds pretty good! While I enjoyed the multiple routes for 3H, I think it was a detriment to me, as I want to experience all the routes, but the time you have to dedicate for a single story makes it a daunting task. Still, I loved my time with it. But not gonna lie, I think it is one of the ugliest looking games on the Switch. And there are few things I hate more in games than silent protagonists when everyone else is talking. Very few times has it actually worked out, like in Skyward Sword, but the lack of connection I feel from the main character takes me out of the story so often. So the presentation alone gets me excited for Engage. The gripping story and great characters being absent seems a bit disappointing, but if the gameplay is solid I'm willing to give it a shot. Thanks for another brilliantly articulated and thorough review Luis!
Oh for sure, 3H was so long so I can totally see that. Glad this is getting some major presentation updates and AHHH VOICE WORK! I don't want to get too excited but I'm so happy Nintendo is getting more comfortable with voice acting.
This was a great review. I'm going to buy fire emblem engage later on for the nintendo switch. The game really looks great. I wasn't a big fan of fire emblem three houses to be honest. The school stuff/social aspect was just too much. It also took so long just to get into battles too. I think that i'm going to enjoy playing fire emblem engage for the nintendo switch and i also really like the single story of engage way more than the multiple story routes of three houses to be honest.
I don’t want too spend too much time with characters. Most of my favorite FE characters aren’t deep. I also don’t want to walk/run around anywhere in between battles. Ever. But I want new experiences, new battles.

Debating if I should give this a go next month 🤔,Wonder how this game would look on my switch lite
Probably pretty sharp since the display is the smallest Switch one.

@@Luisgvn Thanks, I will. ^_^
Great review as usually bud. I think this is gonna be a summer slump game for me. Just too much to play right now.
Thanks bud and yeah I feel that. Still gotta get back to Persona and Dead Space drops this week. So much to play!
