I saw Ryan Grim give an interview after the Intercept report where he pooh-poohed the Toshakhana case, saying that Imran Khan was too rich to need to earn by selling state gifts. I was left completely flummoxed by his confidence in making this statement. I also appreciate him as a journalist but, time and again, we see the cluelessness of American media on topics outside their own country's affairs (same with affairs from India, in my experience).
He seems smart and eloquent but he apparently has a deep grudge against PTI and especially their social media, therefore cannot be taken as an independant or honest commentator. I was surprised that he didnt know the difference between American Congress and American Administration !!

The system moves in one direction.... This is very simplistic as the amount of money moving around is huge in comparison. No US ( and also other countries) like to have "options," especially in changing geopolitical environment( China, Russia, BRICS, etc...). So it is useful for the executive branch to say one thing and the legislative branch to vote the opposite, especially if the vote is symbolic in nature. So your analysis is very simplistic and revolves around IK/PTI and forgets the larger picture..

What proof is there that it was PTI who funded those US officials to pass the resolution, as you only showed how PAKPAC was involved but just because Shahbaz Gill appreciated them for it (which he shouldn't have), doesn't mean that PTI itself used its money to fund the people involved in the resolution. Just because it was in their interest doesn't mean they did it as there isn't any proof (which is the same reasoning used to dismiss the "regime change" fiasco)

What proof is there that it was PTI who funded those US officials to pass the resolution, as you only showed how PAKPAC was involved but just because Shahbaz Gill appreciated them for it (which he shouldn't have), doesn't mean that PTI itself used its money to fund the people involved in the resolution. Just because it was in their interest doesn't mean they did it as there isn't any proof (which is the same reasoning used to dismiss the "regime change" fiasco)

But the contract is about public relation services, and mentions nothing regarding influencing US lawmakers. Plus, there isn't any connection between the firm and PAKPAC, I mean if PTI wanted to pay the lawmakers they'd just contact PAKPAC and work with them, but there isn't any proof of that.
