Erik Cason, thank you for unapologetically evangelizing the Bitcoin message. I've been very conservative with my words when I talk about this thing to others but you ignite the bullish fire within me. I loved this conversation especially because it goes far beyond basic understandings and dives directly into the beautiful implications of a world full of Bitcoin. Thank you Robert and thank you Eric, I'm excited for the next one!
The idea that is both funny and scary is: The only reason BTC has any value is, it can't lie. The reason the state hates it is, it can't lie. What dose this say about where we are at in the world.
Awesome, you guys are opening doors in my brain that I didn’t know existed. Super insightful, thanks for the content. I feel obligated now to spread this knowledge knowing that most people are going to think I’m just fucked up in the head… can’t wait…lol
54:00 Google did this when they created 'Don't Be Evil'. However they didn't build it into they technology in a way that couldn't just be removed and/or ignored by the next CEO. That was a shortcoming on their part.
51:26. It's only logical for Satoshi to abstain from touching his hoard and to remain silent. Because if he were to touch it, he'd be signally to the world he's still alive, he'd be calling down state level attention, and he'd be undermining the very value he was reaching out to claim in his act of revealing himself. So he's highly incentivized not to reveal himself, to protect himself, his freedom, and the network. (rest of my thoughts in the comments)
Additionally, if you want to make the claim that the fame might lure him into compromising his absence, consider the fact he must know how he's regarded, and that the world is profoundly impressed by his walking away. So by returning he'd cease being the saint who walked away, but rather become the man who came back to cash in. Thereby undermining the stature of his fame. If you read Satoshi's writings, it's pretty clear between what he wrote, and how he behaved, and the way he dodged personal inquiries, exiting was always something he was planning for, so he was careful not to leave a bread crumb trail behind. Why would he undermine all that effort? Also, just because he walked away from Bitcoin, insofar as his Satoshi persona goes, does not mean he didn't mine, claim, and/or buy Bitcoin under another completely unconnected identity. So he may be exercising some small modicum of self-restraint abstaining from the "Satoshi stash" but that doesn't mean he's poor. He may be insanely wealthy, even having set aside the Satoshi stash. Remember, you have no idea how many other personas he had, or what coins those personas may have stashed for themselves. It's not like he didn't realize how valuable Bitcoin may become, or that he lacked the means to set some aside for the exit he clearly always wanted to make. It's also worth considering that Satoshi (if he's still alive) is probably keeping an eye on the stash anyway just as a barometer on how the network's security is doing, as the stash is the earliest address, with the weakest security, and the biggest bull's eye on it, if there is a flaw, it'll probably show up there first.
< I totally agree with what you are saying....The fact is, BTC is the future of crypto and the questions traders ask themselves now if this is right time to invest? before jumping into conclusion i think you should take a look at things first. for the past few days the price of BTC has been fluctuating which means the market is currently unstable and you cant tell if it is going bearish or bullish. while others still continue to trade without the fear of making lose, others are being patient. it all depends on the pattern with which you trade and also the source of your signals. i would say trading has been going smoothly for me, i started with 2.5 BTC and i have accumulated over 11.6 BTC in just three weeks, with the trading strategy given to me by expert trader Hudson Owen.
Yessss!! Bitcoin going up is good for the entire market. My largest holding is also xrp, and I actually root for bitcoin to do well, because history shows xrp lags behind it.
I was waiting for so long for you guys to finally say it: we are at the verge of breaking through to becoming a civilisation. In 2008 I was listening to Michio Kaku talking about 3 types of civilisations, where he defined each type by which type of energy is being used. And he concluded as us not being a civilisation yet. I always thought that we need fusion energy to do so, but what we need to do first is figure out how to do proper information transactions and now Bitcoin actually connects both together. This is it! But what scares me is what he says at the end, we really need to get as many people on board as possible: ruclips.net/video/6GooNhOIMY0/видео.html
Your comment inspired me, found this on Wiki...is this relevant? Politically, Foucault was a leftist throughout much of his life, though his particular stance within the left often changed. In the early 1950s, while never adopting an orthodox Marxist viewpoint, Foucault had been a member of the French Communist Party, leaving the party after three years as he expressed disgust in the prejudice within its ranks against Jews and homosexuals. After spending some time working in Poland, governed at the time as a socialist state by the Polish United Workers' Party, he became further disillusioned with communist ideology. As a result, in the early 1960s, Foucault was considered to be "violently anticommunist" by some of his detractors,[183] even though he was involved in leftist campaigns along with most of his students and colleagues.[184]
this episode was insane. my brain exploded in many ways. pretty insane to think that this system is truly metaphysical and you can choose to be one with truth/nature or not. opt in opt out. your choice.
I will forever be indebted to you you've changed my whole life continue to preach about your name for the world to hear you've saved me from a huge financial debt with just little investment, thanks so much Mrs. Katie Stein
This was the interview that turned me bearish on btc if you can believe it. All the smartest minds in btc have left to other L1's. wake up and smell the coffee, just as quickly as you leave legacy systems behind, Gen 3 blockchains leave you behind.

Amazing productivity, Robert! You are totally killin' it on the decentralized education front 🙏
Erik Cason is awesome man! Just saw him on John Vallis's podcast last week. He always has great insights and is funny as hell!
Couldn't agree more!
Remarkable, animated, passionate conversation. Thoroughly enjoyed this. Thank you Robert and Erik!
Glad you enjoyed it!

Thank you too!
Erik is one of my favorite thinkers
Love all your work and enjoy listening to all your guest. Thanks
Did anyone catch the name of the book Breedloved mentioned @ ~34:25? Sounded like 'Nelia' by Robert Percy (?) but can't seem to find anything.
“Lila, An Enquiry Into Morals” by Robert Pirsig (author of “Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance).
1:32:50 When was this sha256 collision found?
Man, you two were jamming and I loved it.

Phenomenal discussion

(The things I have to do to avoid being censored.)
robert, love u dude
Robert, 'Foucault' is pronounced as if it rhymes with 'you owe', with the accent on the second syllable.
Thx

Ask Peter Schiff to debate this dude
Serious question. How can you on the one hand talk about fighting the globalist, communist agenda while basing your work on Foucault?

My son is named Cayson
maybe satoshi lost his keys on purpose?
Why is this guy SO concerned and worried about the 'state' coming for him?
Of all people, why HIM?
Bitcoin should have been named bytecoin
This guy is really emotionally driven, and a bit paranoid.
I am going to create a document NFT titled "Soylent Green Bitcoin - A zero-knowledge proof" and then I am going to own the world.

You can do better than this faux intellectual Robert.
