    The painting very obviously is an unfinished study for a larger portrait piece. But worse than that It has very large areas of later overpainting (including half the head) and the whole part from the eyes to the right hoof has been added later and makes the breast area anatomically incorrect. This should have an enormous impact on value and the fact it isnt being mentioned at all is at least misleading........ i cannot believe they hadnt noticed. Even on a smartphone you csn tell by looking ar the xray. Van dyck made horse hesds too small usually but he always got the rest of the bodily proportions right.

    I love how art people say the dumbest things as if they are so brilliant..... "and here we have the color red next to a sort of yellowish green color applied with a brush that he held with his hands that consisted of four fingers and an opposing thumb which of course was radical for the time".. poppycock
