Only two events remain in the battle for Championship Tour qualification. With three surfers already locking up their place on the 2023 tour, seven men's and five women’s spots are still up for grabs when the best up-and-coming surfers head to Brazil. Saquarema will give the top Challenger Series surfers a true test. As they near Championship Tour qualification, they’ll have to prove their skills against their future competitors in a heat draw featuring Gabriel Medina, Samuel Pupo, Jadson Andre, and more.

Nah, respectfully disagree. It was clutch. Pure emotion after Medina shadowed him for a lot of the heat to maintain his lead. Buzzer beater without priority had to have felt good. Pretty immature gestures? Yeah, but he’s still a kid haha.
Well , if you're going to do airs like a Brazilian you gotta claim like one too.😊
Agree it was too much, but I understand why he would claim that move. I think most of these contest surfers have the incorrect assumption that claiming will impress the judges, but these claims likely don’t do much for their score. I would be far more impressed with Jett or any surfer that pulls that air and rides out with zero claim or tries to grovel to the inside afterwards.
