I've been saying it, week after week, I need Siki to show dynamics. Everyone knows how powerful her voice can be, but she needs to work on using colour in her voice, especially gentleness. Additionally, she tends to have poor control when she sings high...
Overall, I don't think the song choice was bad, but her approach to the song, her delivery was totally off for me. I'd also like for her to stop choosing these songs that sound like anthems. I'm losing interest.
Hlengiwe Nkosi completely agree that she has a problem in the upper register. Not sure what it is. Doesn’t help that it almost sound and looks like she is ‘gargling’ the note at the back of her throat rather than it coming from deep within her diaphragm. Also, no attempt to introduce much light and shade. It’s always being belted out at force. However, I do think the song choices haven’t help.
Agree. These anthem songs are so theatrical, larger-than-life and in no way resonate with the voting public.

This was always going to be a difficult call for Siki Jo- An. Very tender song and one that requires vocal restraint. Previously sung by two hall of fame greats, George Benson and Whitney Houston, amongst others. Not really her cup a tea. Also, probably unfair to compare this to those versions.The problem here may be the coach who should have gone through the phrasing with her in detail. But maybe it’s just poor song choice.
I love Siki, but technically, you're right. Her phrasing needs some work, I picked it up on the African Dream performance as well. Her pitch control on the delicate moments of the song needs some work. It's a gentle song, and needed that soft notes and not much of belting.
OriginalCyprian I agree. I do think she is great when she is singing in her own genre. But it’s still all about song choice with her. The coaches should be there to help her with choices that suit her voice and that just hasn’t been happening.

Lilli L'amour Luckily for her no one was particularly outstanding this week so this performance may not have much effect. In the early stages I had her as the front runner but I would probably say that Tasche may be the one to beat now.

@@bogarte7587 I repeat again, its not an error made by the presenters, they said that on purpose, they are sarcastically referring to the broken English commonly used by others with a hint of sarcasm, the presenter by the way is also a radio DJ, and has/ had her own TV daytime show, sop I know shes very competent in her English. A word of advice, when someone is trying to teach you about other cultures and the jokes they make, listen...
