Summer of 98, the middle of the country St Louis and Chitown, were the center of the sports world. Glorious times for baseball ⚾️

I remember playing down at the park in our little neighborhood and every time Sosa would hit a homer my mom would run out of our front door and scream to me, “Sammy just hit another one!” Or “Sammy just got a home run!” Always keeping me up-to-date whenever he caught up to McGwire and stuff. I’ll never forget those times.

growing up a pirates fan, i always loved to go to pnc and watch my bucs go up against sosa and alou. it's one of those things you don't realize at the time, but you're witnessing history in the making. also had guys like pujols, edmonds, mcgwire, bagwell, biggio, sexson, giles, bay, dunn, and griffey in the division around that time. i don't think we'll ever see anything like that again for a while.
