I think i understand the all trash fiance situation. Its not about how great of a match he is (he's not) but the meaning to have him. Let me explain The half sister want to keep her fiance because she is insecure of the FL coming back after 10 years, love and admired by everyone. She is capable, the favorite of the grandma... plus, she is the dautgher of the first wife. Losing her fiance can be translate to "you cool but your sister is a better version of you. You were just a remplacement. The original is back, bye!" Same for the cousin. She is form the "low" branch of the family. For her, the enemy are both pf her cousins. Taking the fiance make her feel equal to them. The real problem is family issues and insecure teenagers raise by calculating adults that are not help with the all consort thing.

I was trying to deny the fact that Shijie has a crush on A'Li, even though it's common back then for cousins to marry each other. Still, as far as Shijie know, A'Li is Jiang Li, his cousin, his family, not someone who he should consider marrying. It's just weird to me, even though C-Drama is common for close family/close family friends to marry each other, like (Ruyi and HongLi from Ruyi's Royal Love). As I'm watching the recaps and the shows, there's something that I was hoping that the show will answer soon, which is how does Duke Su seems to know so much about A'Li. The fact that Duke Su know her nickname is surprised because that's suppose to known within family and friends. There is one scene in earlier episode where two of them eat and Duke Su happen to said the things that remind A'li of her family. Could be a coincidence, but I'm not so sure since he seems to be quite calculating person. An interesting scene and kind of funny is when A'Li asked Shen to teach her, other wondered if she's interested in him, when in fact they were spouse. Shen Yun immediately told them to shut off. It's bit fun to see Shen family lose their family and be terrified every time they see A'Li.

Also no comment on the emperors obv mommy issues takings his Daddy’s consort as his own 🤔
I was wondering since Consort Li was Madam Ji's sister and assumed she might be a little old based on her looks? I kinda just brushed it off, your comment made me go ohhhh, didn't expect the emperor to take his own father's consort hhh
@ yea apparently everyone raised crap at the time but is too scared to comment on the obv ick factor now and like during the banquets one of the random kids there says she looks younger than his mom so the emperors action make sense.. I mean what can u do 🤷♀️

Just started watching this drama myself so I could get all the juicy details before watching your reviews lol. Yu’e probably is just desperate to prove that she’s just as good as Ruoyao and can’t fully comprehend that YanBang is terrible and isn’t worth going after :(
