So glad you saved it! I have watched so many videos of old abandoned homes that are really old and it gives me so much anxiety to see beautiful architecture that truly needs to be saved. I am thankful for people like you!
Robert: your my Hero!! For a young man, you have an older wise man’s head on your shoulders, and I do so admire you for the way you throw yourself into rescuing, restoring and safe guarding your local history. I don’t think I’ve EVER seen you flummoxed at how to do any job, you always work through things with amazing results, and here you go again! Well done, your brilliant, and I’m sure your young son is like a sponge when he’s with you, watching and learning and storing the info away until there comes a time he can help you, or start his own project!! Well done! Looking forward to seeing the rising sun shining again! Love and hugs from the U.K.!!!! 🙋♀️😘😘💕👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🦋🦋xxxxx
Not so much keeping history alive as in everyday knowledge by everyond, it's more like keeping history available for those who want to discover it. But, I understand what you mean.
I agree with keeping our.history alive.. If we don't keep our history. Then how's our younger generation going too know our past. Someone has too do it and keep it alive. I'm a proud southern man. And in the South our history runs deep..❤❤
Congrats on saving that iconic pediment. I hope you don’t stop there. If it were me I’d go back for the doors, wainscot, transoms over front doors and moldings around the doors. Nice work, Robert!!
I was thinking the same thing! Especially the Front door threshold, trim, and transom window. Probably all carved locally or on site when the house was built. 🥰
I tore down a house built in 1840 in union point ga! It had the most beautiful wood ive ever worked with! Old growth long leaf pine grew so straight and tall i hardly ever found any knots! Some of the tongue and groove flooring was 28 feet long! Robert you should see if you can salvage the wood from the house, 99% chance it will rot into the earth otherwise! Its some of the hardest work you will ever do!
Yeah a lot of the Antebellum homes out here in Eastern Virginia were all built with "old growth" trees. And I've been told that the wood is much more solid and rot-resistant than the "tree farm pine" that's used today! 🤷♀️ Go figure that most of these antebellum homes can stand vacant for close to 80 years before the termites eat them up and they fall down. My friends plantation house that theyre restoring has solid oak beams as big around as a telephone pole running through the center of the house above the raised basement, and wide board floor planks made of American chestnut! These homes were built to last generations.... But it's too bad the last few generations seem to have little interest in preserving their family history. 🥺 Many rot into the ground without having ever had a for sale sign placed in front of them. It's a damn shame
@chrissytaylor5690 that's so true and they wouldn't dare let you tear them down to salvage the wood, doors, mantles, etc! They would let them rot down first!
So glad you saved it! I watched that episode last night. Made my husband watch it to because at the 23:04 mark you can hear a woman whisper " I disagree" after Robert says there was nothing to see up there. My husband heard it as well and the subtitles picked it up to. If you didn't watch that episode House of the rising sun go watch it.
Well done Robert! I was going to ask you last night what you were going to do about saving that, but I thought that might have sounded a little sparky! Proud of you my friend!!! K.

Hello Robert congratulations I'm so happy for you U-Save the Rising Sun🌞 that is so awesome thank you so much for taking us along take care and love from upstate New York❤😊
In this age of tear down the old and build something new, I'm so happy you did this. I have seen so many older buildings in the town I live in get demolished to make way for some new gas station or Dollar General Store. The town is getting unrecognizable. Makes me sad. I wasn't born in this town but my late husband was as were both my children and my grandchildren. I have lived here for 50 years now. It's not as old as places in Ga. I live in Oklahoma, but its still our history. p.s. I still can't help thinking of the song "House of the Rising Sun" by The Animals. And we know what kind of house that was!!!
Wearing gloves! In most earlier videos, Robert didn't wear gloves. Great to see he's finally taking care of his hands and his health. Am I the only one who is curious about the property owner's reaction when Robert asked about purchased part of the front entry? The house obviously has been abandoned for decades, no one has done anything with it, and suddenly someone asks about it. Good Luck with your project, and thank you for saving this piece of history.
Robert, I swear you have an old soul in you, and for a man of your young age to want to preserve history and have the passion you do, is a blessing from God. Amazing that you were able to buy this form the property owner. What are your plans for this now?? Interested to find out. WTG Robert!
Just watched Parts 1 and 2 of this and am so happy for you being able to save the Rising Sun. Congratulations!!! Continue to be so impressed with your preservation efforts in documenting AND SAVING the history of this area!!
Just the best ever, Robert! I for one am so glad you got it! Especially since you have memories of how it use to be!! Historic preservation!! And if anyone can deal with wisteria, it is you!!❣️❣️👍👍👏👏 (Transome window would be good to save too. OBF Kitchen?)
One of my pet peeves is people who throw away historical things or tear down historical buildings recently they tore down or oldest high school a beautiful Victorian brick school and a old railway station.😢
when I watched the 1st part I prayed you would get to keep and restore the rising sun, I love history and you being a younger me, even thought I am female, you make me proud...you rock big time Robert...your Canadian counterpart...👍
I am so glad this landmark was saved. So much of these little historic things just disappear because nobody takes the time to save them. I live history and love when the artifacts of history are saved!🎉
You Truely Amaze me. Thank You for saving that Beautiful piece of history. It's a shame that more people don't try and do the things you are doing. Love both your channels TOBH and SSA. Hugs from Texas ❤
Love all yalls southern vouces. So soothing after a hard day, then just like in the south, Buzzzzz goes the chain saw 😂. Thankful for those that seek to preserve♡
I’m so glad Robert, I have fond memories of the house. I rented a house in Talbotton back about 2002 across from the Methodist church, fountain actually lol. I loved the area and the people. I was working as a contractor for Martin Marietta JC. I’d like to talk to you more, I bet we know some of the same people. I’m so glad you were able to save it.
That rising sun, looks just like the Japanese Flag of WW2. Bonzi! Maybe who ever had the house before WW2, visited Japan and or saw it somewhere and liked the colors and built his porch motif with it. Glad you were able to save it and take it back to the Ole Bryd Farm house. Hope you can put it on the porch of your house, maybe where that back door extension is!
Thank you for saving this important part of your history. So nice to see young people such as yourself be interested enough to take the time to rescue it. I hope we get to see how you restore it.
Robert, here in the UK ,the rising sun design was incorporated into a lot of homes in the 1930s, leaded glass in front doors ,also steel garden gates , etc

have to admit, I would as well, salavage as much as you can from this place, better to buy it at a set price, than to let it all go to Rot.
