And I believe my front cam rolled a counter clockwise. Should I expect any valve damage? I got it done a week ago. Everything is fine had to buy two kits. First kit was poorly made. Had only one timing mark re-ordered aftermarket Toyota kit with all three marks everything went smooth no problems.
Totally makes sense! I really enjoy your videos overall. You do a great job with explaining the process etc in a calm and slower way. My neighbor and I are having a hell of a time getting my water pump out currently. Lol
Im like a timing belt. I try to get off to but the old lady refuses me. In all seriousness we bought a 2005 toyota highlander with the 3.3 and i plan on doing all this work
Thank you for this video sir. I replaced the water pump and then learn the bearing was shot. Checked the markings line it all up and it was late so I came back the next day and rechecked the torque before putting the cam cover and everything else back on. Long story short the car is now slightly knocking not too loud but it's there and it kind of goes away and then comes back. At this point I really don't know what to do at this point. Any good advice I would appreciate it. Thank you
So hey there are two small black grounds near the engine mount that you have to remove. One is connected to the engine and we can't seem to find where the other goes. It has a right angle connector on the one end. Any clue where it is supposed to connect to?
Nicely done. Thank God you used Time Lapse! And did I hear correctly at 19:34 ?? "Lift the engine up to get the bracket in? Did you use OEM belt for replace? Any brand water pump better than others? Lastly, you said got to have patience for this job...where do we order that? 😗
Yes a lot of the time you have to lift that end of the engine to get things in and out, I usually use Gates belts and at the moment we’re using Import Direct water pumps on these, that’s always subject to change as companies get bought and sold and their products change quality.
Usually, most of the time it’s something that you figure out using common sense and process of elimination. I often group bolts by what they hold to help.
How many valleys are in the timing belt in between the two top cam gear marks I was aligning the crank to get my cam marks on spot when the belt broke my belt have no marks
I have a 2006 Toyota Highlander bought new in 2006 (wife’s car) and only has 31,000 miles. What di you think, dies the timing belt need to be changed because of age.
As a preventive yes, but I don’t think I’ve ever seen one break due to dry rot that wasn’t close to mileage. I think you’ll see leakage out the water pump due to age before the belt would be in danger and they would get serviced as a set anyway.
Yes, but often by the time you get to the point that you can see it you’re halfway to replacing it. If it’s a question on age then I would recommend replacement.
Yea, anything deeper than what I did here, I believe you’re supposed to pull them in order to remove that rear cover but I was able to wiggle the pump out without being that invasive.
Thanks for the video. Helps me approach mine in a few days. Good health to you!
Excellent ! Best vid on this. Will give to mechanic to help him.
Great tips you provide.
Thousand blessings !
😊
Muchas gracias señor, me sirvió mucho esta información. Bendiciones y gracias 👍
Thank you for the video. Its really great clear instructions. Thank you ❤
I moved the rear wire harness out n up so i can see the rear cam line up with the notch behind a lot better
You saved my life.

Most V-6 engines are interference, I think this one is but haven’t seen one with damage yet.
Thank you for the video!
Thanks, Bulldog.
Why'd you skip the part about taking the timing belt off?!?
Because I’m not always able to film myself in a way that the camera can see what I’m doing. I’m continually trying new ways to make the videos better.

@RipperStudio I get made fun of a lot because I tend to talk slower in my videos…but I hate how some creators chatter like a rabid chipmunk. Lol
@@bulldogsautomotiveadventur4387 I appreciate the pace at which you speak. Especially since I have an auditory processing disorder.
Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge. How many hours more or less takes if labor?
This job should be 3-4 if you’re fast, 5-6 if you’re careful, a novice should still be able to do it in a day

thanks for the video, doing one of these at work and wanted to get see if there was anything special you had to do but looks straight forward.
Good luck with it, that mount is the only real hang up.
Thanks for ur video l changed timing belt and my car is not running well l think l put all lines correct but APM doesn't go up ?
Are you sure you didn’t dislodge the air tube on the other end of the engine?

Was the belt cover warped at all? If the timing belt is hitting it from the inside it could be from a warped cover.
I use binder clips for my t belt jobs
Yes I use them as well, ironically I was told they were called “bulldog clips”. Lol

I don’t remember, but they usually have ground straps that go from one side of the mount to the other, often bolting to the strut tower

@@bulldogsautomotiveadventur4387 so do you just jack it a little, or do have to loosen a motor mount?
@@dougfresh1341 you’ll have to take the mount loose
@@dougfresh1341 on several applications the mount goes through the belt so it has to come off anyway, just depends on what I’m working on

I’ve never counted teeth, new belts usually come with marks as well as having the marks on the cover

What’s a decent price for this repair on this exact vehicle?
This job with a tune up, all new belts, and water pump cost the customer just under $1200
👍👍
Is there a way to inspect the timing belt? I just recently purchased a 2017 with 66k miles but im worried about the age of the belt
