It was the previous government that had this great fortune vision and set the foundation for the semiconductor industry in Malaysia. Putting the politics aside, the government instruments back then, such as MITI and MAEDA, really had done fantastics and professional jobs to lure and sustain the semiconductor FDIs in Malaysia despite strong competition from neighboring ASEAN countries. Let's not forget about this. Without this foundation, you can not go this far ahead today. While we should embrace the new era, we should be grateful and not defame / mar the good contribution of the old era with comments of political nuances.

I remember over 20 years ago training as a computer and electronics engineer but only be able find a job in systems integration and software development.
Any investment is good but i think balancing between all sectors is the most good! Securing a food supply and invest in own food production should be the most primary since when economic down(hope never happen but who know) no one can survive without food! I can't eat computer chips and i'm pretty sure i won't survive without food even if i have 100 billion in my account but no food to buy!

Also if the local population cannot satisfied the manpower required currently, there is always the option of importing foreign man power and gradually increasing the local worker counts by means of knowledge transfer and education. Invest in Malaysia or any other countries connected to the South China Sea is very risky. Only Indonesia which is relatively safe because one can avoid the potentially big conflict region in the near future. One can ship from S Korea and Japan through east Philipphine downward between Borneo and Sulawesi, then move passing west part of Sumatra to the Indian ocean. Malaysia, Taiwan, Vietnam, Thailand, Singspore are very risky countries considering the future conflict in the South China Sea.
