    Hi lovely vent lady💗it seems From the comments that people think your someone famous! To me your a wonderful young lady who has helped me remember what life was like with a trach etc & how if it happened again I would have someone like yourself to go to for advice! I don't remember ever having one of those feeding tubes! It can't be very nice having one of the tubes pushed through your nose to your intestine! But the main thing it delivers food & keeps you alive when you need it! You make some very interesting videos,it makes my week when you post one! I still pray to God every night that your cyst does not burst & your father gets his sight back! God showed me your video's for a reason! I think it was to help & support you & for me to remember the almost 4 yrs with a trach & vent,and with god's help I got through it! Watching your videos I could see what I went through when I was 20,now I am having to come to terms with being deaf! People think hearing aids restore normal hearing but unfortunately they don't they do help to stop me being 24/7 in a silent world! Like your ventilator breathes life in to your body & takes the strain off trying to breathe! God bless you & your family 💗💗💗

    I was put on an NG tube in the hospital last month and absolutely HATED it as it made me gag and throw up uncontrollably.Fortunately I was able to come off of it after a few days and a successful swallowing test.

    Thanks a lot for providing useful info. My son who is 14 years old has been put on this feeding tube which goes into small intestine on 20/10/2022 due to his medical condition. Since yesterday he is feeling very depressed. How should I encourage him! Please do reply. I will wait for your answer.

      Hello. Thank you for sharing some of your story with me. I am so sorry your son is feeling depressed. One way to encourage him is to do activities which are not centered around food. Perhaps play a board game, do arts and crafts or work together on a puzzle. Invite family and friends over for these activities. But please do not include food/eating as part of the activity. This will only cause your son to feel isolated.
      Also, remind him the feeding tube is keeping him alive. Explain to him why having a feeding tube is so important for him. You may also find changing the story line to explain his condition to be beneficial. For example you could tell him the following: if you had a dog who could no longer eat by mouth, but needed a feeding tube, would you want the dog to get a feeding tube? Would you still love the dog if the dog had a feeding tube? Would it matter if the dog had a feeding tube? Would you love the dog any less because he had a feeding tube?
      There is an organization called the Oley Foundation which is for people who use feeding tubes and IV nutrition. They have a Kidz Klub which meets virtually online. He may be able to connect to others with feeding tubes who are around his age through this program. This would be very helpful. The website to the main page is oley.org
      I wish you and your son all the very best!

      Same. I've never known for an nj tube advance itself from the stomach.... I was always told they had to be advanced. So u learn something new everyday lol and I don't think nj tubes are placed at the bed side here in England maybe thats why I never knew it could be done that way lol and ive had both nj and ng tubes.... obviously can be different in other countries... but I personally never knew ur stomach could successfully advance the nj tube itself

    Hello! What if you unintentionally close the feeding set tube to NJT port too tight? What is the troubleshoot for that? Thanks.

      That is a great question. Please ask a medical professional for guide on this issue.

    Hi - I wonder if you could answer this for me please? My partner has just had an NJ tube fitted. The tube is coming straight forwards out of his nose and is stuck with tape on his nose. Other tubes I have seen have gone to the side and are taped down onto the face - this way looks much more comfortable and less obtrusive. Is there a reason his tube is like this? Do NG tubes look different to NJ tubes when you look at the patient face-on? I am struggling to find this information... Thank you

      @LifewithaVent  Год назад

      Hello. Thank you for your question. NG tubes and NJ tubes will look the same. There are several ways to anchor the NG/NJ tube. One is using tape and attaching it to the nose. Another way is to attach the tube to the face. It all comes down to preference by the hospital, clinic or person who inserted the tube.
      From my experience, having the tube attached to the nose is better. The tube is much less likely to be pulled out. Also, the tape on the face can be very irritating. It can cause the face to become itchy and/or red.
      If you would like the tube affixed a different way, ask the medical professional who inserted it (or the medical professional who ordered the tube) if the tube can be attached to the face.
      Another option is to keep it the way it is. If the tube is long enough, loop it behind the ear and tape the tube down to the face.
