Do you agree with my Sonic Superstars review? Why or why not? My verdict is the game is good, not perfect. I would recommend waiting for a sale unless you don’t mind spending $60 because that is a high price for a 2D side scroller.

This is how any some game should be reviewed, not complaining about levels designed like the classics and complaining about speed that's not like the classic, I'm not even gonna be surprised anymore if a reviewer hates on the game because the hud isn't 1 to 1 to Sonic Mania and the time is below the ring count, I really enjoyed this video man

I dunno, is rail grinding in a side-scrolling Sonic game really revolutionary? The Advance and DS games had that. Granted maybe those aren't technically 'classic' Sonic games, but they always felt like proper successors to the OG classics.
The way they work seems different though, in most Sonic games landing on these is an instant grind, while in this you can stop and walk on it like a normal platform

This is the first Sonic Game I've played since Heroes! I'm looking forward to jumping back into the series!
That's great! I reccomend you start with generations as its pretty good and a good jumping on point that has some of the best of boost games. Then I reccomend sonic unleashed, sonic mania and I reccomend you end with sonic frontiers. This is just my reccomended games

I feel like this Game is very enjoyable! I honestly enjoy watching the Gameplay and watching The beautiful zones in the game! Plus the bosses come sooner then they should wish I love because I love bosses in games especially when they come soon I honestly think since it allows you to be any classic character in any zone is just remarkable! I’d give it a solid 10/10 in my opinion

I just finished playing Sonic Superstars and this was probably one of my best experience I had with a Classic Sonic game in a while. I definitely think that Sonic Superstars is worth and i definitely think that Sonic Superstars is amazing Classic Sonic Game. Sonic Superstars is definitely rated great and a 8/10 is not a bad Sonic Game and I give Sonic Superstars a 8/10. The controls are very good and Sonic Superstars does great with the controls. Drop dash was kinda a problem when I was beating Sonic Superstars today because I didn’t like when I use the Drop Dash it slow down my movement when I was playing as Classic Sonic. The levels Sonic Superstars I really love and I really like how Sonic Superstars they don’t just reuse levels from other Classic Sonic Games. The playable characters are great but the problem that I have with Classic Knuckles in Sonic Superstars that when he Glides I feel like he loses his momentum when he is Gliding. The hubWorld in Sonic Superstars are very cool. My favorite playable character to play in Sonic Superstars is Classic Sonic. I really love how this game lets you play as Classic Amy. The Chaos Emeralds in Sonic Superstars I really love and I really love how they use the Chaos Emeralds and I really didn’t like when you get hit by a enemy you lose your Chaos Emerald. I really love how they have a Trip story And I don’t hate the Trip Story at all. The Final Boss I was given me some Frustration but I got though it. Sonic Superstars is a amazing Classic Sonic Game.

Mario Wonder will be a far more polished game. its that simple. there is some media bias against the Sonic franchise, but that doesn't apply here... at all. Super Mario Wonder will just be a better game. you're talking about a game made by Arzest who's last game was Balan Underworld vs Mario Wonder, a game made by Nintendo's best. there's no comparison.

@@SonicHubYT based on what i've seen, some really bad bosses, some really bad music with that same Sonic 1 snare that Jun Senoue uses in Sonic 4 & in every track he makes (the small handful of Tee Lopes tracks are great though) them literally reusing boss tracks from Sonic 4 & stage clear music from Sonic Mania instead of making new music, all gives the game a bit of a rushed & unfinished feel. i also can't ignore the graphics of Superstars. comparatively, Balan Wonderworld was a relatively good looking game. Superstars looks like a mobile game from 2010.
now for the positives, the fact that they got the physics (mostly right) is a plus & its generally a decent game, its probably a high 6 maybe a 7. about on par with Frontiers but with the same issues... good ideas but seems rushed. an 8 is a bit generous... Spider-Man 2 is a highly polished but unambitious game that does almost nothing new from the previous 2 Spider-Man games... that game is about an 8/10. (people felt IGN low-balled the score, but I agree... seems about right)
Superstars is nowhere near as good as Spider-Man 2 so it definitely doesn't deserve an 8/10. its a high 6, or a 7 at best imo. just to put things into perspective.

Level design really takes a nosedive after the first couple zones. I feel like people are forgetting Arzest made this.
Some are frustrating but some of the later stages are still pretty dope IMO

@@ShiningStar5022 well sure, but its clearly still an Arzest game. They dont seem to understand slope jumping, air control challenges, or how to properly skill gate alternate routes. It leads to a really shallow experience that doesnt allow for very much variability in subsequent playthroughs, which is the main reason classic series fans still play those games and remember them fondly

Maybe they could have put the red rings in the game to encourage exploration in the level design or something. Maybe a ranking system too (if there isn't one).

Don't know if it was explicitly stated but a few updates can chip away some of the negative issues. If the game performs well enough new multiplayer modes can be added. Hopefully this is a game that Sega will support for a while.
I think its a great game, only really annoying this is some of the bosses taking a bit too long
2023 has been a BANGER year for video game releases and Sonic Superstars, despite its jank and more soul-crushing moments, is absolutely among my favorites of this year and will be continually played for years to come. I really hope Sega mandate Arzest and especially Sonic Team refine the foundation they’ve created to produce a sequel that can truly rival the classic tetralogy and Mania.

It's not as great as mania but hey least it has it's own identity in terms of zones which we rarely get in almost every sonic game
So it's amazing that they were able to do this
Also for the bugs they will probably have a patch for this but safe to say this game should have atleast waited a few more months
But honestly I'd give it a 8/10 as well

It def ain’t mania but it’s still strong and stands above some classic games like CD and Sonic 1. 7.5-8/10 is solid! Just wish the bosses were better lol
the bosses are definitely annoying. you have to wait just to strike the boss the bosses take more than 3 hits to take down so it’s time consuming and annoying, and we don’t talk about the 2nd phase bosses
Honestly, the chaos control ability is pretty good especially in boss battles!
First time seeing your videos and really liked your breakdown of the game. I personally love Superstars with all and its flaws - struggling with the final boss at the moment, and got the Bridge Island theme stuck in my head since yesterday, haha.

So I didn't beat the game yet, but I know I'm halfway done. I saw playthoughs of this game run up to 3 hours. Which brings me to my point. A game this short should not cost 50 to 60 dollars. Sonic frontiers made up with the price because it's a fairly meaty game. It took me almost 30 hours to 100% it. But superstars considering I have only been playing for 2 hours and I'm almost done. I think the game should have cost $40 at the most. It's about the same length as maina and maina wasn't that expensive

I totally agree with you on the boss making difficulty with bunch of waiting and some cheap death, which were really a shame since classic Sonic games let you hit the enemy multiple times with way less waiting if you are skillful!
Other sad criticism was with music, they aren't bad and I understand that they were trying to create the "genesis" feel but... most of the music gave me Sonic 4 vibe and Sonic Mania already proved that classic Sonic can have super jamming tunes!
With that said - those are the only criticism I had with the game as well, 8/10 is a good score decision, I fully agree c:

I just finished the game and came to look at the reviews. The game is not as good as Sonic Mania, but I liked it. I definitely don't think it deserves the $60 price tag. I wish I had bought it on sale. Other than that, it's a solid game

Also I finally found an actually good reviewer. I watched the IGN review and it was trash, they said, something like, sometimes the game is “too slow” and a sonic game shouldn’t have platforming.
Also, idk why people hating on the soundtrack, I think it’s really good.
I don’t see the problem of replaying a Great Game with a new character. Unlike Sonic Heroes, the characters and noticeably different.
This game is amazing, and honestly the best Classic Sonic Game in my opinion. Game finally beat Sonic 3K
If they wanna make a new Classic Sonic game. Improve the bosses, improve the battle mode, multiplayer, and dropdash. KEEP TRIP! Other than that there are no real complaints. Can not wait until Speedruns come out.
Also I think people should give a pass to the multiplayer because how else are you supposed to incorporate multiplayer/co op in a fast game like Sonic.
Just saying SEGA, don’t continue the trend of doing the “Plus” add ons.

Idk but for some reason I feel ashamed of the 8/10 knowing SMBW is going to have better scores because of bias.
Also this isn’t the modern era this is the renaissance era.
And, so what if Mario is gonna get 9/10, it's inevitable. But this is the best Sonic has had since Mania and that's an accomplishment on its own.
I argue differently on the multiplayer since I firmly believe its THE reason the bosses are so long and tedious.
Take for example Sonic 2's Death Egg Robot. How long do you think that fight would last when he has four players to deal with? It would take barely longer than beating a mantis robot from Metropolis. I believe they made the bosses the way they are so that four people don't utterly demolish the boss in mere seconds before even learning how to fight them.
Because of this, I feel four-player co-op shouldn't even really exist in this game. The battle mode is enough and maybe a two-player mode so we can have the Sonic+Tails player 2 dynamic without involving two more people to be the Tails.
I think that SEGA should start to focus on something else than classic Sonic, it was cute the first time in Generations, it was perfect in Sonic Mania, but it’s time to, I even dare say, kind of soft reboot the franchise or something like that. Because this game is evidence of classic Sonic being worn out, the team behind clearly didn’t understood what made the classic games so cool, it feels uninspired and quite generic, if only the music was good, but it’s on pair with Sonic 4 music.
I Love this game!!! But I grew up with Classic Sonic. On the Genesis.

10:36 I agree with you. That's my biggest knock against this game. I'm used to playing 2D Sonic games where if I'm good enough, I can beat the boss in as little as 10 seconds. But in this game, the s are so long, and the attack patterns are even longer, before I even get a sliver of an opening to attack! And if I miss my chance, I have to wait another half an hour before I can hit him again.

Even on the first major boss, when it looks like I should have been able to land a hit, Robotnik just shrugs it off like it's nothing. I don't like that.
Like I feel like speed running and replaying this would be almost as fun as a Sonic 2 run (my favorite sonic 2D game) but the boss battles pad it out with frustrating and annoying mechanics
@@SonicHubYT Even in Sonic 3, there are bosses I can beat really quickly, and the bosses that I can't beat that quickly are still fun to fight regardless, compared to the majority of the boss fights in this game

It’s a very fun game and I really enjoyed the new gimmicks and level designs. I was surprised it was getting all the hate.
People sh!t on Sonic games for the wrong reasons it seems like. Nintendo fanboys are biased against Sonic games because of how good the games are and they know they are better games than Mario overall. I've always thought Mario games were cool, but they are way overrated for the most part.

honestly , i agree about the boss battles stuff , i had to repeat fang's boss fight like 4 times? eggman's final boss took me like 20 times? but that was mostly cuz i was playing with knuckles , and trip's final boss is when you know this game is unfair, the fang boss is filled with instakill moments which you're either strong enough to actually avoid getting hit or you do like i did and use the emerald powers, after those bosses , well let's just say i sure am glad i have a save data, but other than that this game is awesome, also i wouldn't call those random portals "special stages" they're just there to give u some extra rings and teleport u to different part of the level , they last like 10 seconds

@@iceman92211 Without Classic Sonic, there literally couldn't be a Modern Sonic. Classic Sonic is what put the series on the map at all, due to it existing. And for all the achievements Sonic has had in the Modern era, none will ever compare to the one that literally changed an aspect in how games are released as a whole, which happened with Sonic 2, causing the overall idea of actual scheduled release dates.
And without that, Modern Sonic likely would not even exist.
@@GameAW1 you do realize that before 2011 there was nothing called classic Sonic and modern Sonic and instead it was just one fictional character called Sonic the Hedgehog
So technically if you removed the recent classic games nothing would be effected in the timeline

It has a few bangers, like one example is Cyber Station Boss theme, but other than that it is pretty inconsistent.
It’s probably because they put a lot of different music artists with lots of different music styles, and it just didn’t work out well. Especially with the OST sometimes going from an absolute banger to a song with the genesis soundfont.
It doesn’t fit and it doesn’t feel right. It’s all over the place.
They use the genesis soundfont WAY too much in the soundtrack. (Mainly because of Jun) And it feels messy just swapping song styles. It over-saturates the genesis soundfont A LOT.
They’re holding on to it for too long which doesn’t make sense, because they don’t need every song to have a genesis soundfont to be a good song.
Like I feel like Fang’s theme could’ve been good if it was a longer loop and if it didn’t have the genesis soundfont.
Kinda similar to Sonic Forces’ music problem and those insufferable synths in most of the OST.
So they showed proof that the whole OST COULDVE been good, but that potential only truly sparkled in a few themes.
Now if the whole OST had the same quality as songs like Sand Sanctuary or Cyber Station Boss or that Carnival stage, then it would’ve been better.
*So I would personally give the ost a generous 6.7/10, the Cyber Station Boss theme alone gave it another point.*
(I know I keep saying this but that song is a fricking banger, AMEN BREAK IN A SONIC GAME)
Just my opinion of course. Some people actually like the genesis soundfont songs, and that fine.
While I don’t think the OST is totally horrible, it definitely had wasted potential and it could’ve been way better as a whole.
Haven’t played the game yet, the only thing I wanted to spoil myself on was the OST, so idk how good the game actually is. But I have high hopes because the ratings seem to be pretty decent. They definitely should knock that price tag down though.

Honestly don't care, I'm a huge Mario fan, but I know this game is gonna be a fun time, will wait for a price drop since Mario is gonna stay full price and I'm short on money. Again just cause these two games will release at the same time doesn't mean one will be worse than the other, Super Mario Bros. Wonder will be an innovative wonderland, while Sonic is a experimental speedy platformer, totally different and I'll enjoy what both have to offer

@@derple8524 some people can only afford one and like in my case Superstars would've been an instant buy but now I gotta go with Wonder, it really is bad timing on Segas part
@@SonicHubYT its not just that but its probably gonna eat a lot of Superstars sales, Sega really should've timed the release of this game better.
