Thank you for your help, I ordered the lights from where you said and got it ready to go during SUPER BOWL 50! I painted it the whole Xbox chrome and the inside has white LEDs. I am going to put a window on the top and metal on the right. Thanks again, your video is/was the best out there.

Those are all pretty awesome but too bad the case buries them. Do they look better in person or on camera?
The case definitely does buffer them out pretty heavily which is wild because the LEDs are stupid bright. It's about the same in person. When I get a chance in the next week or so I'll cut out a window then it will be able to shine through 👍

Yeah, I dont get what the problem is. I used your method to power up LED's and everytime anything is connected to the wires that are jumped from the motherboard the power supply cuts off as if there is a power surge. If nothing is connected to the wires, The Xbox turns on just fine. I dont expect an answer but I just wanted to comment just in case others are having this issue.
+Drumblanket I solved this, You cant use a lot of LED's. The safe zone is around 16 lights total if youre using SMD LED strips.

Do the LED's shut off when you turn off the console or do they keep running?
I did the same thing to my Xbox one and you have to unplug the power cord to shut them off completely.
+Austin Zaker take it out of standby mode and youll be good :)
Austin Zaker or you could run a power switch in the positive wire so that you can break the circuit when the console is off

Do you recommend only installing 6? I just bought the blue led's from your link and am following your tutorial, would having too many cause problems for your Xbox? And where do you recommend bringing up the wires from underneath the board?

Are these switched 12v....or are they always on...I would like to use it for my water cooling....in case someone knows any other 12v solder points please let me know!!!!

My leds wont turn off with my xbox
I'm painting my Xbox one and I need some advice on the front panel. I don't want to paint over it because I want to still see the power button. I can't seem to cut an exact circle to cover it with painters tape. Any suggestions? Also, if I was to install rgb lights with 4 wires, would I still be able to use this process?
some xbox one skins have the exact cutout you need

I just put tape over the power button then cut around it. Fold any extra in around it
Ok I did mine but the leds turned on and worked but generated a lot of heat and started to burn it's casing, what would be the cause
4 years late but it sounds defective. Usually if too much power is supplied the leds will just burn out not start burning!
what gauge wire did you remember using and could i use two sets?
and also do they not shut off when you turn of your xbox?

I probably messed this easy tutorial up more than anything. Just my stupidity.
Where did u get the LED kit?
+Timothy Robinson You can buy them on amazon for super cheap. Just search "5050 led". You get a whole roll of them. You just cut them at the copper section and wire one end of them power. If you want more than one section, just wire the end to the beginning of another section. piece of cake and they are nice and bright.
