Hi George, Nice to hear Atlas has the rights to DCS. It will help keep the model industry pricing comparative. I been a Lionel train fan sines my first train set in 1950. Although I do enjoy watching your channel and many more channels running MTH engines and rolling stick. I agree MTH made a great product and the details to there engines and rolling stock are awesome. Thanks for sharing the information with us. Nick
Nick thank you so much for watching. Like you, I am a huge Lionel fan. I also like MTH as well and have some MTH pieces. That said, I do think that a competitor to Lionel has an important place in the industry. Competition breeds innovation. I appreciate you following my channel and taking the time to comment.
Sounds like you have a pretty good handle on the important aspects of the situation. Need a continued healthy O Scale industry as that is how most of us "Gen X'ers" got started in railroading.
I agree Ken. I think that having only strong manufacturer is bad for the hobby. It creates a situation where that manufacturer is not pushed and can become complacent. I was worried when MTH announced that they were leaving the market this might happen. With a strong manufacturer purchasing some of their molds and getting a contract to utilize DCS, the market will remain vibrant. Manufacturers will continue to push each other in quality and price. Thanks for watching the video.
So glad that Arlas came thru to keep MTH around now hopefully I will finally be able to send the Atlas engines I have and have them fitted with the MTHProto 3 operating systems, and once and for all do away with the Lionel TMCC system that is incorporated in them.
I use TMCC and DCS together. It is not as hard as you might think to set up. You should consider doing that before taking out all of your TMCC electronics. That said, Protosounds 3 is wonderful and way better than TMCC in terms of the robust features. I can see why you might just want to ditch TMCC. Thanks for watching.
good news, even better if railking continues for myself and many others who have part of, or all of a layout that is conventional and 027 oriented. this vid helps get the word out. thanks!
I appreciate the kind words. Hopefully the Railking equipment stays strong and good. Like you, I know that others will be happy. Thanks for watching the video.
Great insights George and an enjoyable format... the one on one “Coffee with George”. Though I’m a dedicated Lionel modeler (so far), the perspective through youthful eyes and mind is what this hobby & business will need into the future. I’m probably not alone here... feeling that 10years from now with a business degree, you becoming a major player in the industry as you hone words for passion here in this public forum. Lionel, Atlas, Scale Trains etc., take note- your future CEO. Good work George keeping us informed in the hybrid- modeler, rail-fan nerdy world we so enjoy.
I believe Atlas wants to be the "king" of toy and model railroading. Acquiring MTH gives them a strong position in this business. They may be looking to be the affordable go to company in the hobby. All scales. Lionel will be forced to drop their prices. Atlas is a very good company. They won't have done this with a major development plan.
I agree. It will be neat to see Atlas make their much bigger push into 3 rail O-Gauge. They will for sure be a major player in the future. The best part is that with competition, hopefully, prices will remain in check. Thanks for watching.
Lionel will never drop their prices. That's the biggest problem. Their prices just continue to rise. That's why I'm glad to see Atlas making a big comeback.
@@jebbstrains2223 No matter what the product is in business, competition always drives down cost in some way. Hopefully not quality. It will be fun to see who buys the steam locomotives.
@@GfwTrains I agree 100%. When I seen the new Lionel Book that came out I couldnt believe those Prices. Even with MTH still making Engines Lionel still jacked up their prices. If it were only Lionel, there may not be a Train Hobby for newcomers or the younger generation. We have some Lionchief stuff but I'm not a fan of it. For the money the Railking stuff is far Superior. I'm just so Thankful Atlas was the one who bought out most of their Premier Deisel Line and all those Cars they bought. Hopefully Menards will buy the Railking Line and keep it affordable like all their other items. But it looks like Lionels Legacy Steam Line may be the only option if no one purchases MTHs Premier Steam Line in the more expensive lines. But I look for MTH to keep making some of the stuff they dont sell off like the Premier Steam Locos in limited quantities.
As of now Atlas only bought items and tooling for MTH Premier Deisels. No one has purchased the Steam Engine side of the Premier Line. This is something MTH may still keep and make. Whoever buys the Railking Line may be interested in some of the TinPlate stuff. We will find out in a month or so.
It is Great. It's the very best thing that could have happened. Atlas Deisels were better made than Lionel and MTH with way better detail back in the the early through mid 2000s. Their prices were right there with them. I'm excited. If you own Atlas Products you know how well they are made and look. Plus now with the best Sound System on the market Atlas will be making a Superior Fantastic Reasonably Priced Deisel Locomotives for all us. So now we just have to wait a month to see what's going on with the Railking Brand. We definitely need someone besides Lionel making Steam Engines. Could it be Menards? Broadway Limited? or Williams?
I agree, I think that in the end, these transactions will ultimately strengthen the market. The loss of MTH is too bad, but this is a good alternative to the complete loss of a manufacturer.
@@GfwTrains yes especially now that we will have 3 Major Players in the Market. Lionel, Atlas and the new Railking Purchaser instead of just 2 like it was before with just Lionel and MTH. Plus if MTH continues with some Models we may have 4 Players in the O Scale Game. This will definitely give us a wider range of Products and Prices. It should be a Win-Win Deal for everyone from the MTH Employees. Hobby Shops, and all of us Train Enthusiasts. Hopefully by this time next year everything will be Full Steam Ahead for everything.
Like these little discussion videos. Should definitely do more! 👍🏻
I appreciate the kind words. It was a fun discussion. Thank you for watching.

I was thinking about selling all my DSC equipment, but NOT NOW!!! I'm looking for BIG things to come from Atlas.
I am so glad that Atlas is going to market DCS. You are right, there are big things to come. Thank you so much for watching the video.
Hey George, good job I think you have a pretty good handle on these things. Good presentation. By the way very good last night
Thank you so much for watching Grandpa. There is some more tooling that we can buy. :-)

Most of this doesn’t have any meaning to me, being in HO, but glad to see George giving his thoughts.

@@GfwTrains that applies mostly to Atlas. MTH models were never truly scale sized imo
