Great shave and comparison. I like your technique of dialling the lather in to that consistency so it's less to wipe off with my cloth and that is great when I get it right. Have a great weekend when it comes. Very best regards Gordon.👍👌
Very nice, Johan. I love that your lather falls off the blade; My great grandad used to flick the lather from his blade, into his bowl. His lather must have been like yours or visa versa. An interesting discussion about slickness. I think it's entirely subjective. Lovely Filly. 👍
I had a shave this week with some Perreiras soap. I was having a little difficulty but ended up with the runniest lather. I now have hopes of emulating my great grandfather!
Beautiful razor, love the look of the scales. I've not long tried the MDC for the first time, and was impressed. May not be the best soap in the world, but definitely up there. Only tried the Saponificio Varesino as a sample, and was also good, but with a sample its sometimes not as good as a full size tub.
I have both SV 70th and MdC Originalé and I agree with you that Saponifico Varesino is the better soap and it's slightly cheaper as well. That being said both are amazing soaps and I enjoy using either one anytime.
Great comparison. I’m yet to use a SV soap, it’s been on my to get list for far to long... love the scent of MDC too. Personally I think the slickest soap I have used is Swedish witch, it also has one the best post shaves I’ve ever experienced. Seems to leave a slick layer on the face. But that’s just me 🤷♂️
Just watched your video and truly enjoyed it. I just tried a sample of McD original and was really expecting an outstanding lather. It was good but not outstanding. I am getting some samples of SV scents. Do you have any recommendations or preferences?
Thanks! I agree on the Mdc. Fantastic scents but an avergae soap experience. I like Stella Alpina from SV and I think that's the only one I have tried actually.
@@Shave_n_Butcher thank you for the reply. I bowl lather and use a DE razor (I'm a chicken to use the straight razor). Do you have any recommendations on a top level soap or cream?
Really great comparison thanks. I’ve only got a sample of MdC (because I’m cheap, but even that is lasting forever) and find it easy to overload. I’ve found that I can load for less than 5s to get more than enough lather for 3 passes.
@@Shave_n_Butcher There's a site called shavedash .com where I've bought lots of samples from. They're based in Northern Ireland and have a huge selection that changes. Prices vary a bit, but for MdC it's around £3 for a sample, which is 7.5g in waxed paper. I've pressed it into an aluminium tin and load from that. Think I'm 5 shaves into the sample and it doesn't even look like it's made a dent in it. Good way to try out soaps and scents without getting the full size I reckon.
I don’t know US shops really. Pasteur’s carry Laugar so they probably gave loads of brands. No-one carries the Witch. Email me if you want me to check with Sara if she has any soap around.
That's a glorious looking razor. Yes, West By God Virginia as the expression goes. Yes sir, you're gonna have to work on that Jeffrey Smith impression. I don't think anyone can objectively measure slickness in a soap. Until someone develops a slickometer the thoughts on slickness will continue to be in the realm of subjectivity. I hope someone also develops the scentometer while they are at it to measure scent strength.
High-end shave; gorgeous razor. I'm jealous. Stop wearing your missus's knickers. Get your own! Ask for assistance in the fitting room, just to make sure you get the right fit.

Something odd going on here, on a men's shaving channel. Only happens here! Your videos start with an advert for women's waxing products😖 They are missing their target audience... I think😉 👍❄☃️🎅💈
I think the talk about the labels is way over the top bordering in embarassung. Same thing about how beautiful a brush handle is. They're not women! They are Friggin shave brushes. Give me a plain ivory or a wooden handle to make my grandfather proud. Seriously. Cheers Johan

Custom charges are just evil. I had to pay £34.25 from my last order from Zingariman. I'm normally lucky and don't get hit with them.
It’s a lottery.
All right, now I know. So, what's the best soap in the world according to you?
