    Nice frame and clean build. But I am sceptical to your power connections. It's my understanding that you should use EITHER the connectors on the long side OR the ones on the short side to power the pci slots. Then connecting the auxiliary power connectors on the gpu directly to the psu. You are running all the power needed through the traces on the board and it might not be built for that. Imagine the undervolt settings going back to default and all the cards going full throttle, you'll be drawing up to 1600W through the traces.

    • @DesignerVIsuals
      @DesignerVIsuals Год назад

      That's Exactly what I was thinking. I do not believe the motherboard was designed to handle running all the power for the gpus via the board. The gpus need to have direct connections to the psu. Such as using pcie splitter cables.

    • @ruvrandomusefulvideos
      @ruvrandomusefulvideos  3 года назад +8

      For the sake of video for this mobo I always use Windows 10 with Nicehash because I already have in on my SSD. And with Windows I can show that the mobo is working fully just like regular PC. Now when it comes to benefit of nicehash is I love seeing the payout every 4 hours and if you are new to mining nicehash quickminer is good to start with. My self I start with regular nicehash miner to learn about mining then switch to Nicehash quickminer when they launch it. Very easy to use just like installing a regular software and let it run. Hive OS is for advance user, it gives you more control over your rig and you can make more profit if you know what you're doing and give you freedom to mine different coins etc. I have 1 rig with 6 cards running with Hive for almost a year now and lately I am mining Raven coin with it. That said I love both Hive and Nicehash, thanks.

    Guess I’m confused I use the btc-s37 the biggest board. (And smallest 8 board) And I only have to plug in the cards and the one connector below each card on board to power the riser. Do you really need to have a 2nd power supply to connect the wires on the side? I don’t think you need to. I think that’s just two different locations to power the riserless boards. BUT I could be wrong.. test it and let me know! BUT I do want that rack you have there! Where to find them or house to build them!

    • @ruvrandomusefulvideos
      @ruvrandomusefulvideos  2 года назад

      You don't have to, the side connectors are option when you use the server case. You can power the motherboard using back connectors as well but then you have to split it to power all GPU's or you can power them direct from PSU. • @ruvrandomusefulvideos
      @ruvrandomusefulvideos  3 года назад +1

      Assuming that you have 8 GPU's, you have to power all 6 pins connector on the motherboard, that will power each PCIe slot then you also have to power all GPU as well.

  • @davidtay3373
    @davidtay3373 3 года назад

    • @ruvrandomusefulvideos
      @ruvrandomusefulvideos  3 года назад

      With BTC-S37, the 6 pins connector is to power the board and each PCIE, do not use them to power the GPU's. You need to power each 6 pins and each GPU directly from power supply. Let me know if you have more questions, you can also post it in the discussion on my channel, thanks

Note that with Ravecoin you'll get half of the hashrate compare to mining ETH. I have 2x1060 6gb and 4x1070 8gb and I am getting 11 Ravencoin every 2 hrs ish. Don't use a single 6 pin for multiple pcie slots. Each graphics card could draw up to 75W from the pcie slot so you should connect a 6 pin to the motherboard for each graphics card installed.

  • @TheRoemer1
    @TheRoemer1 3 года назад +7

    Those back plugs are not meant to be used as a passthrough for the GPUs. It's just meant to have 2 different options to plug the mobo in and supply the slot with power.
    Please advice your followers to plug in the GPUs directly from the PSU, one single 6-Pin Cable will not be able to handle all the power for the slot, mobo and Graphic card. 6pins usually can just provide 216W, not yet calculating in the 80% rule. Even if it might have worked in your case because you use not very power hungry GPUs, this could be a burned mobo, or even in the worst case a real fire hazard.

    • @ruvrandomusefulvideos

      Theromer1 Some seller on AliExpress, has video of the wiring connection of this motherboard and that is exactly how they connect all the wires when using the enclosed rack mount server type case, motherboard is design for this wire configuration. But you are right, you have option to get the power directly from the PSU if you are using open frame like mine. Its been running for almost a month before I made the frame, now its about 2 months and I always check the wiring and mobo for any sign of overheating that can cause fire hazard but the wire and mobo are cold so meaning it handling the current that it should. It was fun...Never figured out why mine failed, was it component-level or did I inadvertently do something to damage it? The USB stick that had been running HiveOS failed permanently a few days before the mobo started kicking all the GPUs off the bus after a minute or two of mining. Also there was a sticky residue on top of and underneath the surface of the board as if a capacitor or maybe some silicone grease from a heatsink or thermal pad leaked. Some of my cards show a little bit of sticky, shiny material underneath and around the heatsink(not on the gold connectors).
