- This is a tribute video to the King of Pop, Michael Jackson. The instrumental version of "Billie jean" was recorded by national recording artist/saxophonist Michael J Thomas in 2008 prior to MJ's passing away. It was released in 2010 on Michael J Thomas' album City Beat.

5 to 6 years ago I started recording my City Beat album and I wanted to record a Prince song, but could not get permission to do it. My 2nd choice was from another favorite artist of mine, Michael Jackson. Even though I recorded "Billie Jean" prior to MJ's passing I chose not to release it as a radio single because I felt it would look opportunistic. I uploaded this to RUclips in June of 2010, approximately a year after his passing. Hope you enjoy!

God, this version is more than perfect. Such a rhythm. Man you should be proud with this achievement. I didn't heard for a long time better composition.
Shpend Deda I'm happy you like this rendition. I recorded it prior to MJ's passing, but didn't release it as a single on smooth jazz radio when the album (City Beat) was released due to his untimely death. I didn't want to look like an opportunist. I respect Michael and his music too much to try to gain from it. In my humble opinion it is really well produced by my friend Shannon Wallace and is one of the better instrumental versions out there.

Thank you so much. We recorded this prior to MJ's passing and planned on releasing it as a radio single until his untimely death and we felt it would have been in bad taste to profit from his death. I loved the man too much to do that.
