    The pick ups have o.been the main disappointment when trying out more modern Juniors for sale They were not even close sounding to the original 50s and 60s examples. Bravo! you have opened a door to a great choice with your skills .Thank you.

    Wow, i think i've been subscribed to your channel longer than almost any i follow! I didn't want to miss when you uploaded a new one and here it is. Thank you Mr. Gundry, it's fun to learn about this stuff and hear it too. I hope you are well and still enjoying the specificity of these sounds. You are certainly the only one making replicas of the originals anymore, that i know of.

    Very informative. Quick question: is it important to trim off the excess length of the pickup leads? Thanks

    • @ThroBakChannel
      @ThroBakChannel  Год назад

      Trimming off the excess lead is important to prevent the braided ground shield on the lead from accidentally grounding a connection that would ground out the pickup signal path.

    Your idea of using the Gibson parts , as you say the guitar is use to them, I really agree with.
    In fact, whenever I remove screws/ nuts / tuner screws from a guitar. I get a piece of cardboard and stick each screw in the exact order as they came out. I tape the nuts to cardboard too.
    I’ve worked on many guitars as I’m sure you have and the screws/ nuts don’t alway like to go back in/ on in different holes or threads.
    Sounds crazy, but it can save you a huge headache.....
    Cross threading can easily happen and ruin your day...👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

    Jon; You need to get one of the knob pullers that Stew-Mac sells. Gibson does sell an Historic LP Jr.But I don't think they sell a regular, non-Historic version!

    I know that it’s “vintage spec” but what’s the advantage of using a 250k tone pot instead of a 500k?

    • @ThroBakChannel
      @ThroBakChannel  2 года назад +3

      The 250K tone pot fattens the tone of the bridge pickup just a bit compared to a 500K pot.

    • @geckobaldy
      @geckobaldy 4 месяца назад

      @@ThroBakChannel So on a 2 P90 pickup guitar would you use the 250k tone pot on the bridge and a 500k tone pot on the neck. Also do you use linear or log pots. Thanks

    Can we put copper foil cover behind that pick up?

    • @ThroBakChannel
      @ThroBakChannel  7 месяцев назад

      You can but the Copper may make eddy currents that could change the tone of the pickup. Personally I would not do it.

      @@ThroBakChannel what if i just change the wiring and keep the stock pick up will i feel a change?

      You will get improved treble response with our harness over the standard Gibson harness.

    • @ThroBakChannel
      @ThroBakChannel  7 месяцев назад

      Personally I would do the pickup, harness and bridge. We don’t offer a bridge but Mojoaxe and Music City Bridge are two popular options.

    If you don't have the knob remover tool, a couple of spoons work much better much easier than the towel/cloth trick.

      I replaced the black knobs on my 2023 Gibson LP JR and there was no way to get anything under them. I grab the channel locks.aa thick cloth as to not damage knobs, and pull the suckers up and off.
