Killer work man🤘🇨🇦 great content. Can't agree more with losing it. Been out of the game trying to transfer unions and moved to a new province, reallyy do have to stick with the processes and keep training any chance. Go from welding all time in shops, field and at home but easy how quick it can escape your grasp. Weld on 👍

Hey Mr. Hargett can you do like a small video explaining fish eyes in detail and showing how to prevent fish eyes when walking the cup or freehand ? 🙏 Tig welding or stick

I've been a UA pipe welder since 79 and had 8 UA certs when I fell and ended my career in August 24 2023. The day before TNs velvet bow season. It's pretty much ended my bow hunting too. Anyway I can back feed fairly well but not nearly as well as I would have liked to. Being able to see it was part of the problem. I could do it if I had to when putting the root in on a hard spot. I used a form of back feeding just not like this. On 4" and up sch 40 I would have a 5/32" gap and 1/8 wire. And put the wire inside the pipe. But not welding the end of the wire straight on like some people I've seen. Back feeding is the best way if there's a high low of very much. The best way is to fix the high low before it's ever tacked up no matter how you are going to weld it. I can go lots faster my way of putting the root in. And didn't burn off the rod hardly ever. SS is easier too for me because I can see the rod better. If I were starting welding pipe now I would definitely master back feeding. And orbital so I didn't have to hand weld as much anyway.

Something I rarely do these days 😅 if I have too I’ll need a few more coupons before I back to it

I weld the root about like you did the first half but in at least a 1/3 of the time. Carbon isn't so bad about suck back. SS is if you go too slow. Or too cold on the Amps I'm pretty sure you're much faster if not explaining things as you go either. I enjoy your videos. BTW I'm not Paula. I'm her husband. She doesn't have a clue about welding of any kind. Lol.

Very interested in watching the GMAW-P videos that are coming down the pipe. Curious to know how the pulse is induced in a machine like this, ie: electrical manipulation or reduction of wire speed? Is the machine capable of running pulse spray or does it cap the settings? I find there aren't a lot of videos using pulse on thicker material, and everyone says pulse is pretty much only for thin stuff (which may or may not be true).

I have only scratched the surfaces of the pulse mig on this machine. However i can confirm form prior experience using pulse mig on very heavy sections of metal up to 3 inches in thickness. I will defiantly be looking into it more and have multiple videos on my findings

I’ve tried back feeding so many times but it’s just not for me. I’m seemingly incapable of keeping the wire attached to the puddle, or from just falling out badly. I’ve resorted to keyhole/dip and lay wire and that seems to get me by
