the last stage before you accept/understand your own decay and death on a fundermetal level, one last rearing up. Your late 30s early 40s fuck you up... a good catalyst for art. just my opnion on what the drive behind lateralus was ;D

+Nick Mokrzewski but that probably means they have to tune lower . which means the bass would be lower, guitars lower, drums lower. totally different sound. lower doesn't mean heavier. I mean lamb of god plays in drop D as well

    • @peepeepoo3432
      @peepeepoo3432 8 лет назад +4

+Jonathan dedman Nope it doesn't, tuning can stay the same, singing an octave lower doesn't mean retuning every instrument, the scale the singer is singing on is exactly the same. Point is it would be impossible, if you think just about the first verse an octave lower it would be extremely difficult to sing for maynard

I have come curiously close to the end, though
    Beneath my self-indulgent pitiful hole,
    Defeated, I concede and
    Move closer
    I may find comfort here
I may find peace within the emptiness
    How pitiful
    It's calling me (calling me)
    It's calling me (calling me)
    It's calling me (calling me)
    It's calling me...
And in my darkest moment, feeble and weeping
The moon tells me a secret - a confidant
As full and bright as I am
This light is not my own and
A million light reflections pass over me
Its source is bright and endless
    She resuscitates the hopeless
Without her, we are lifeless satellites drifting
And as I pull my head out I am without one doubt
Don't wanna be down here soothing my narcissism away.
I must crucify the ego before it's far too late
I pray the light lifts me out
    Before I pine away
    Before I pine away
Before I pine away (pine away)
    Before I pine away...
So crucify the ego, before it's far too late
And leave behind this place so negative and blind and cynical,
And you will come to find that we are all one mind
Capable of all that's imagined and all conceivable.
And let the light touch you
So that the words spill through
And let them pass right through
Bringing out our hope and reason...
Before we pine away (pine away)
Before we pine away (pine away)
Before we pine away (pine away)
    Before we pine away.

everything about this song is fantastic, maynards vocals, dannys fills, justins bass riff, adams outro riff n his riff in general, all of thoses specific details for this song is why tool and this song off of lateralus is so great, everyone overshadows reflection, don’t get me wrong the other songs off of lateralus are fantastic all though the lateralus (the song) time signature is the fibonacci sequence, the rest of the songs just overshadow this song for know reason to, cuz reflection and disposition mixes together so well, but everything one talks about how useful idiot and forty six & 2 mixes together well, there still great but i would pick reflection and disposition and day

Man, great video! I think most people did not notice that you were properly focusing on the persons who are doing the most "important" part. I hate it when there's a beautiful guitar solo but the camera man focus on the bassist because he looks more active somehow. Here, you showed that you knew the song and what part was contributed by each of the members. 10/10
