    MAJOR kudos to you for what you did at the end of the video i.e. making a distinction between your preference / bias for the Pegasus and what you would generally recommend to the broader audience (Puma Velocity). It would be so easy to project a preference as a recommendation to listeners and you successfully bifurcated the two and lending you a TON of credibility (in my opinion). Much respect to you man.

      I appreciate that, thank you.. The VN3 really is the better shoe here. It definitely suits more people. It’s really that good.
      It’s going to be VERY interesting when I do my “best of” content at the end of the year. 🤙🏻

    As always, your comparisons are fair, impartial, and unbiased. Given this discussion and previous discussions featuring these shoes, I would lean towards the Puma. Thanks, Chris

    The outsole compound of Puma grip is more durable than the compound used by Nike. At 450Km my DN2 has barely worn the outsole lugs in the forefoot while my Peg40 only got to 300km lugs are already ground down.

      Agree, that is part of what makes it "better".

    Got the Volt colourway in both of these in a UK 13. Peg 41 is 375g for me and VN3 344g and both are within 1g left and right which is not always the case these days. Been pleasantly surprised by the VN3 and done about 150 miles in them. Perhaps the key point is that it felt like a Pegasus! So a fairly simple shoe, some ground feel through the toes but a shoe that works best for me for easy/steady runs but I can also do a few strides in within feeling they are bricks. As you say, the fit suits my long narrow feet very well as that is what I have. I never once have ever thought about "stability" in a Pegasus so interesting you mention that. Got a few niggles at the moment so have only done some walking miles in the Peg 41 but feels very familiar. So firmish by modern day standards and some ground feel through the toes. Not that different to the VN3 for me TBH. Fit is OK for me in the Peg 41s but it is a bit wider than the VN3 but can't say it is a "wide" shoe like say the Rebel v4. I do think it is hard to say which is "better" yet. Daily trainers are ones I want to just put do some miles and swop them out for faster shoes on faster days. Of course I will need to actually do some decent running in the Peg 41s to have a better opinion for myself but I think either would do fine for the basic use case of running "daily" miles in a "traditional" shoe where there is some ground feel but cushioned well enough and does not cost a fortune.

      I'd be really curious how Nike and Puma scaling to larger sizes differs. Also the build quality on the Puma is very solid.
      The stability I'm mentioning in the Peg41 is more how the Peg36 once felt, before the narrow footprint Pegs of the 37-40 (which got slighter wider over the 2 major models). The 41 just feels "right", or what I remember before the Peg went down the aggressive route.
      Another shoe the Peg41 reminds me of, that I ran quite a bit in, but never talked about on the channel...was the Nike Rival Fly 3, literally a Peg 36.5 and currently made (Cushlon foam and a full length airbag)...

    Great review and comparison. I have 2 pairs of Velocity 3s and love them. They are firm and stable, but I don't like pillow soft foam, so they are great for me. If you like soft midsoles, the velocity 3s are not for you. I have never run in the Pegs. The Velocity 3s are a Euro fit, so they won't work for peeps who like a wide fit without needing a wide-version shoe. The Velocity 3s will likely fly under the radar, but in my 45 years of competitive running, I can say it's in my top 5 shoes of all time. No exaggeration. Thanks!

      I would call the Puma fit, narrow...but not Euro. Definitely not as narrow as a classic Adidas fit or say a current Salomon fit.

      As soon as I can get a pair I’ll be on it. They aren’t released in Taiwan yet and no one seems to have a clue when they will be. 🤷🏼‍♂️

    How do you think the peg would go as a gym shoe that i can? A firmer stable base is bonus, i like how you say it feels lower to the ground. Looking to replace my 860v13 for a gym shoe that i can then do 5-8km on the treadmill.

    • @SagasuRunning
      @SagasuRunning  25 дней назад +1

      The Peg has always been a good option for this. The 41 is a hair bit softer but it’s a wide flat platform that allows for decent toe splay so lifting will be good in it. General gym work with some treadmill is perfect for it.

    Hey Chris have you tried Puma running gear yet? Curious to know how ultraweave/ultraspun fares against the Aeroswift line.

    • @user-xx5oo7mj4u

      Puma Ultraspun fabric is softer and more comfortable on skin especially when soaked in sweat compared to Aeroswift tops

      I have no, nor have I even looked into it. I've been wearing some different stuff his summer, finding some work arounds for heat and humidity. I may make a video about it later this summer.

    Which is best for speed runs and intervals?

    • @SagasuRunning

      Both work well...If; i had to pick I'd go with the Peg41 as i prefer the toe off feel...but on paper the VN3 has the more responsive midsole and foam sandwich.

    Which of these two products would you choose for walking?

    • @SagasuRunning

      Either one work well. The Peg41 is wider and more stable. The Velocity Nitro 3 is firmer but more cushioned. You can't go wrong with either.

      thanks! I like the Pegasus 40 cushioning. I don't like shoes that are too soft. Which shoe is a little bit firmer? Which shoe is higher? Which shoe is similar to the Pegasus 40?I'm looking for a shoe like the Pegasus 40.I'm looking for a shoe like the Pegasus 40.

      @@lovemj-lt3pz The Peg41 is the closest to the Peg40...but the VN3 is taller and firmer.

    Nike really needs to just slap a full rubber outsole on the streakfly give a little more stack and call it the Pegasus Turbo. This is ridiculous, teasing us with the vomero 17 but making it over 10oz is number one BS! I just want more Zoom X that's not a cloggy invincible or a brittle Vaporfly 🤬!

    • @SagasuRunning
      @SagasuRunning  25 дней назад +2

      The Vomero 17 was never meant to be a Turbo replacement or any type of faster running shoe. It's a plush "volume" runner, it's weight makes total sense.
      I loved the Streakfly but it was too delicate for daily use. Still...I hope some of it's DNA is in the Pegasus Plus.

    • @CELane-zv6uj
      @CELane-zv6uj 25 дней назад +1

      @@SagasuRunning I hear you on the Vomero 17... Except the Novablast, Superblast, and 1080 entered the conversation showing you can have a max stack volume trainer below 10z. By the time it gets to my size 11 it's HUGE!
      I love the streakfly, not as a racer, but a lightweight daily trainer with that sweet sweet ZoomX. It's a shame Nike acts like they don't know what people want. They don't need to restructure their lineup they just need to put their star player in the game. Like they say I got a itch and the only thing that can scratch it is more ZoomX (cowbell)!

    • @SagasuRunning
      @SagasuRunning  25 дней назад +1

      Agree on the weight… but that’s Cushlon… that foam has always been heavy and dense. React foam would have made much more sense in the V17, if it wasn’t for the whole switch to ReactX.
      If curious if Nike will keep the Streakfly 1 in the line when the Streakfly 2 releases. If they don’t it will be the fist time in…. Forever they don’t have a spineless flat…. The Streak series is dead…. But maybe they will release more Streak LTs again?
