Cé gur mhó aithne a bhí ar Percy French mar gheall ar na hamhráin ghrinn a scríobh sé, ba shiamsóir mór le rá, údar cumasach, file, seinnteoir bainseó agus péintéir tírdhreacha den scoth a bhí ann freisin a thaistil an domhain. Fear géimiúil agus barrúil ab ea é ar thaitin gnáthrudaí an tsaoil leis. Oirfide a bhí ann agus bhí a shaol lán le ceol. Scríobh sé go leor amhrán ina measc You Right There, Michael, Phil the Fluter, Come Back Paddy Reilly agus Gort na Móna. Bítear ag casadh amhráin Percy French go fóill ar fud na tíre seo i gciorcail amhrán agus i bpobail áitiúla.
He is best known as a writer of humorous songs, but Percy French was also a legendary entertainer, a talented author, poet, banjo player and an accomplished landscape painter who travelled the world performing. He was a playful and witty man who had a distrust of the overblown and a love of the ordinary. His life was full of music and performance and his songs include Are You Right There, Michael, Phil the Fluter, Come back Paddy Reilly and Gortnamona. Up and down the country, the songs of Percy French are still sung.

Can’t get enough of Lisa O’Neill. She’s a treasure.
THE BEST VERSION I HAVE EVER HEARD.....LISA ONE OF OUR GREATEST TREASURES.
The lady stops me in my tracks and makes me pay attention.
She means every word and that's just what I like.
Herself found herself in the nexus of grassroots native poesy. A champion.
Percy French wrote so many songs that moved and enterainined people for more than a hundred years. Thank you Lisa for a singular rendition of Come Back Paddy Reilly.. Love it
Absolutely fantastic Lisa, folk music at it's very best.....If you closed your eye's anyone would think it was Nancy Griffiths singing.
Brilliant Brilliant and brilliant again.ya gotta love Lisa.and i wonder how paddy reilly got on far away.
Beautifully sung. Lisa O'Neill! Marvelous!
Lisa is one gem of a folk singer
I grew up listening to ma da singing it. I wish he was still here belting out. Great stuff
Ah, so glad I stayed with this. Probably was influenced by the male singers who I had heard previously. This lassie can express the sentiments and bring out the feelings for sure…..maybe better. She takes me places with this rendition.
Love the song and the story no doubt Percy French was or is the greatest songwriter Ireland ever produced I love his lyrics and melodies
A great ballad. Lovely performance.
You sing this song as if Percy French had taught it to you yesterday. Of course it's fine for it to be sang in many ways, but I love Irish music in its 'natural form' if that makes sense. Thank you.
Love the works of Percy French, with Lisa thrown in for good measure, loved her performance at Shane Mac Gowens Funeral as well, did a good job on Fairytale, l was born in Cootehill, Co Cavan,
Now stateside for 50-yrs. Always. ☘️ wondered why Paddy Reilly never came back,
Many jokes were told when l was growing up.
Irish music just continues to get better.
Thanks Folks. 🇮🇪☘️🇱🇷
Love from Canada
Beautiful version - def my favorite!
What a pleasure. French's lyrics were witty and sly and his tunes gorgeous.
Beautufully sung, thanks!

Lovely ❤
Bloody marvel you, thanks Lisa.
Sorry to be slightly pedantic, but there was no train station in Ballyjamesduff.
I would say the nearest train station was Oldcastle in county Meath.
I have been hearing "cool" all of my days, but I have never understood what it means save for a mild form of cold.
i am so proud of our transexual sister, wee salute you !
Is she for real? Is this a kid? It's like a paddy shop in Dublin , a pop up shop!! She doesn't even know it!!
