With no navigational tools or weather reports, Kirsten Neuschäfer battled the elements and intense loneliness for 235 days to cross the finish line a day ahead of her competitors. Now, after winning the world’s toughest sailing competition the old-fashioned way, she’s back on home soil and getting her feet stuck into her next solo adventure.

I think when Kirsten hears the criticism that you can’t do it or it’s too hard…she takes energy from those naysayers and actually does it! Bravo, Kirsten. I feel like Gqeberha is the kind of place that people like Kirsten flourish in. I came here in 2019 and I can confidently say this place is a “hippie haven”, I love it.
Became like a drug for me everyday following Kirsten's GPS progress. An amazing young lady that gave so much to fellow South Africans and followers around the world.

Hanging on to the back of the boat like that at speed is incredibly dangerous with no one else on board. If she lost her grip she'd be dead.

I got scared just watching it. Doesn't bear thinking about. There's bravery and then there's recklessness.... I think she trod a very fine line between the two here
