Mr. Door said that there are many worlds. Some on top of one another, some side by side, and some inside one another. Dylan Faden had knowledge of the nature of his world. A game. That there was a world outside where we the player were playing his story. The barrier between fiction and reality are thinner than we realize.
It is well known that the Mail Tubes inside the Oldest House send mail to other realities. What if they ended up here in our world? The following files were discovered inside a familiar orange Tube at my local Credit Union. I'll be documenting the contents in this Archivist series.
After several weeks of no new Mail Tubes showing up, I finally got lucky. I'll continue to work on the other tapes since they were knocked around in transit. But for now here is the one with the least amount of damage.
Alongside this tape is one more document. It increasingly seems as though the speaker here is documenting his thoughts on the Altered Item itself, trying to understand the mindset of the people ad items involved.

Spontaneous alteration sounds even scarier than spontaneous combustion. The pram is somehow doing both.
Nothing would be worse than catching some ZZZs and your pillow underwent Spontaneous Alteration. Causing you to never wake up. So many of these items started acting up out of nowhere. It I'd unlikely they were already altered and just didn't do anything until this specific day
Alternate theory. The Smoking Pram could part of a set of two altered items, the pram itself and some item that normally would be associated with babies, a rattle for example. It is possible the shop filled with smoke when the item inside the pram was removed if it sold separately. Recommend searching incident reports for items or incidents fitting this category. If my theory is correct, then this unknown second item may still be at large.
The only times we see a two part item, VHS tape, the jukebox, slide projector, etc, usually only one item is altered and the other is a carrier. That being said I can totally believe a baby rattle would House paranatural forces. Those things have been around for millennia and definitely iconic in the collective consciousness.
I like how when he mentions the possibility of a conspiracy, he wraps up the story at lightning speed. Man doesn’t get paid enough for this ;-)

Man I'd love for this thing to be a gateway to some place like Centralia, Pennsylvania... which is a very real place with coal mines where the mines are on fire, thus requiring the town to be evacuated. It's the inspiration for the game Silent Hill.
Oh god if this is a gate to the silent hill universe I'm done lmao. I still stand by my ton foil theory that Silent Hill is a stable Place of Power.

Another splendid episode. And quite intriguing. It really makes you to ponder a question, what really happened in that shop.
It must have been enough to destroy the incident report. Other than that who knows. Fun little bit of world building though.
I got chills listening to this, the implication that someone WAS within that store is now deep within the FBC, inside the oldest house with intentions to hide its true origins & secrets surrounding the smoking pram is so creepy. Because like you said the accident only affected one report but caused the deaths of many containment staff...
So what I'm taking away from this is that there is an urban legend in France about spontaneously combusting babies. Given the Memetic nature of Altered Items and all.
Wait is that a thing? That didn't come up when I researched this. It would make sense though.

@@alucardv5312 That is part of a larger question. How much control do these groups have about the outcome of the altering process? Can they influence the properties of the items? Perhaps it's more like: "we know how to alter items, but the outcome is anybody's guess."
That's kind of how I look at it. Thet can control some things but what it ends up doing is kind of a crap shoot.

I'm at a lost as to what the Smoking Pram is supposed to symbolize. Perhaps that's a sign of being an artificial Altered Item.
This is definitely a tough one. I'd argue not all of them need to be physically match their effect like the Fan does.
